Sega Joins Nintendo And Skips Gamescom 2012

Sega has announced that it won’t be attending this years Gamescom event which takes place in Cologone from August 15th to the 19th. The publisher claims that the timing of the event didn’t work with its planned release schedule, and that it had made a “commercial decision” to skip it. Nintendo announced last month that they won’t be attending this years event.

“Sega has made the decision not to attend Gamescom this year.”

“Unfortunately the release timing of our 2012 triple-A titles and new projects don’t work with the mid-August scheduling of the show. The decision will not mean that Sega will never attend Gamescom in the future, this was simply a commercial decision made for 2012.”

    1. What I want to say is that
I’m almost convinced that the wii u is launching in August cause of something I read in game informer

    1. I don’t know. I’m curious to how many events there are yearly! I know about E3, and then there was one in Vegas that I forgot the name of… I think it was CES. You guys, I wish I could attend these things, because they seem so informative and yet the restrictions of admissions to the public seem totally unfair!

      1. In Mexico we have EGS (Electronic Game Show), Nintendo stopped attending thes event some years ago >.<

    2. Yes, but not as much as Sony and Microsoft. I think that’s good because then they can drop the bomb when they do appear on stage :)

      1. mmlol family guy online

gamescom is timewatse anyway so small and cheap really a gay conference for gay hentai nerdies

        1. Gamescom is good though, what are you talking about? Do you even know anything about any of these events outside of E3?

Also, sucks for you if Nintendo is the *only* company you care about, you only know about a fraction of the good games on the market.

  1. I have to admit, the “first” comments are less annoying, Kudos. I have nothing to say about this news, however.

      1. Xbox+Nintendo+Ps3 are all WIN so shut up people who r biast

yeah that was kinda bad wording. I could have just said “Sega is not going to gamescom this year.”

    1. i read it as Sega joins Nintendo and that’s it but no.
(curios question)would that be a good idea for Sega become Nintendo second party?

  2. for a sec, i thought it said SEGA actually joined Nintendo, but i read the full title. I guess that’s what i get for reading stuff at 7am

        1. eh, they have decidedly different ways of thinking about game development (Nintendo would never release stuff like Yakuza, Virtua Fighter, or House of the Dead for example)

I like them working together but I don’t want them to ever join. Nintendo has plenty of franchises they need to revive as it is, they don’t need even more franchises added to that.

        2. Sega game on Nintendo platform… in 10 year will be playing PlayStation games on Nintendo.
