Nintendo Says New Super Mario Bros. U’s Release Date Hasn’t Changed

Nintendo of America’s Kit Ellis recently stated that New Super Mario Bros. U will be released after the Wii U’s launch but, according to a Nintendo representative, “there is no change from the launch timing on New Super Mario Bros. U than what we [Nintendo] communicated during E3.” New Super Mario Bros. U will come out this year and, if it will be a Wii U launch title, expect Nintendo to reveal its exact release date this fall.

          1. Im not saying mii, but im getting AC3, not this though. Might pick it up if theres a dead week later in 2013

            1. Why is everyone expecting AC3 to be a launch title? Not doubting that it could be, just wondering where this expectation comes from.

    1. Don’t you think they will layer out the games some? Like I blockbuster movies you don’t have the best all release the same week because people only have cash to see one maybe two movies a week. I know there are like 4-5 games I would love on day one but i can only justify 2-3 games that week. Plus the whole list of games we don’t even know about yet for launch.

    1. The 3DS didn’t even do too bad, it had a better launch window than what we’ve seen of Wii U so far. I’d rather have a Pilotwings reboot and Street Fighter over another rehash of the Mario formula. I don’t doubt it won’t be fun, I just don’t see the innovation and I’ve come to expect that from Nintendo.

      1. “Oh, man, it’s another Mario rehash! Why? Because it’s 2D!”

Another retarded comment, I’m not surprised.

Oh, by the way, Pikmin 3, Nintendo Land, ZombiU, Game & Wario, Project-100, and the improved 360/PS3 ports.

        You fail, kid.

    1. lol.. soo thenn, the nintendo’s wii u release date is nov/dec.. very vague at this point of time, if U ask Mii ;)

      1. The main confusion about what that guy from nintendo said was it wasn’t title a day 1 title anymore (it had become a launch window title), but it looks like NSMBU is still on track for day 1 release.

        1. I don’t think they ever specified launch, just launch period. I think this is a sly way of saying it hasn’t changed, but won’t be available at launch anyway, though if they’ve learned anything, it will be.

  1. .. so i mite jst get pikmin & nintendoland at launch of wii-u.. ima wait for another mario title till then.. and i like skittles, “taste the rainbow” ;)

Seems a bit pointless to release two New Super Mario Bros. game in the same year, even when they release so close to each other.

      1. Drastically different? lol, One has a gimmick, and the other is NSMBWii with an HD texture pack and the tanooki leaf. The core gameplay is exactly the same, the graphics are very similar, and you can bet they’ll have loads of the same music.

  3. HEY SICKR!!! Nintendo UK has a new marketing director.
    Name: Shelly Pearce
And Starship Defense has been added to Club Nintendo US for 150 coins.
And the 3DS now sold 5 Millions in the US.
And I found this new trailer on IGN today http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlwowgJm_QA
And Aeolus see Nintendo did not break their promise.

  4. I’m not sure if this is much news. They didn’t state that it is or isn’t a launch title, just that its release date hasn’t changed (which they haven’t given us). It could still very well be a launch window title

      1. Huh, didn’t see that. Still, if it is definitely a launch title, why were Ninty so vague about it on this post? Why wouldn’t they just come out and say “Its a launch title”? Still, I will go ahead and believe this for now.

  5. The big N has not set a release date yet due to the final specs for mass production they are still reviewing ongoing feedback on there product I am not going to bullshit you guys I know sombody that works at the manufacture that will put out the wii u that person told me thay have about 85% of the parts needed to make a unit but have no planes on production for a least 2 mounts

  6. huh? … was this ever an issue? … why would people think it’s not a launch game? … Nintendo said everything at e3 was in the launch window. . .

  7. here is different perspective; Some fans were in a bit of a tizzy a few days ago when Nitendo of America’s Manager of Public Relations Kit Ellisclaimed that the game would come out sometime after launch, rather than being a launch title as Reggie announced at E3. However, it looks like there’s still a good chance we’ll have Mario at launch.
Kit was contacted about the incident, and said the comment he made was a mistake. NSMBU’s release date is the same as it was before, and has received “no change.” This means that unless there are any changes before the Wii U comes out, the system still has arguably the best launch lineup ever.
