The latest Iwata Asks states that the long-awaited Pikmin 3 will be coming to Wii U sometime during spring 2013. Pikmin 3 was originally a labelled as a Wii U launch window game, but it appears as though the game has slipped slightly to a spring release.
Pikmin 3 is scheduled for release for the Wii U console in the spring of 2013.
Man waited long enough for this one!
It’s not a delay, the launch window is November-March. Spring starts in March, so it looks like we might have a good idea when Pikmin 3 is releasing (in March).
Somewhen between March 22nd and 31st. I kinda doubt that’s actually it, but I hope so. :)

Chalgyr: Understood. I’m not overly eixcted about the Wii U as a whole yet, but that’s partially because Nintendo’s still keeping things close to its chest. I am quite curious about the whole Miiverse aspect of the system, though, and whatever online functionality that brings to the system.I, for one, could care less about the Wii U’s power — or the power of the PS3 or 360 successors. I was happy with the 8-bit and 16-bit machines, the Saturn/PS1/N64, the Dreamcast, the PS2, the GC, etc., so I’m sure I’ll be happy with the Wii U and its competitors too.I actually think it’s interesting to hear which current systems people play the most and why. For instance, you say you’ve played your PS3 and 360 the most this gen. I, on the other hand, have played my Wii about 100 times more than my 360. That doesn’t mean I don’t like my 360, mind you, just that I’ve been more interested in the experiences the Wii has to offer at this point.Anyway, it’ll be interesting to see if that continues next gen, or if I turn my focus to another system, like the PS3 successor…

Tbf Reggie said awhile ago that he personally considers the “launch window” to be from “launch date to the end of March”, so this article isn’t a surprise, and it still counts as launch window from their point of view. Just not necessarily ours ^^;

They have to spread out their titles. I think Wonderful 101, which I’m really interested in, will be later in the launch window.

Hopefully the reason for such delays (not a launch-title) is because they are actually replacing the textures to better quality ones. The demos we saw from E3 were the textures they were working with for the Wii (as Pikimin 3 was originally planned to be a Wii title, and then the devs changed their mind and thought they should port as a exclusive Wii U title, reworking some of its mechanics and usage of Gamepad).
Hopefully that is the reason. :p

It better be worth the wait. I was planning on buying this game along with my wii u. I guess I’ll have to go to my back up zombie you as I am not waiting for winter to come around again. (I’m not American)

I sure as hell know the new iPhone was not only made with child labor, but also in horrible, health-hazardous conditions.
Nintendo would hardly be the first company to exploit cheap labor, but filthy rich companies like Apple one-up the stakes by using harsh labor environments, and don’t get me started on how much waste they produce, especially making all accessories OBSOLETE with the new port on the iPhone. Every. Fucking. Year. Apple generates a shitload of waste, dispite their claims to have recylable parts.
That said, I hold Nintendo to a higher standard than Apple, and would be disappointed if they made kids work in shitty environments to build their products.
.___. Fair enough, any more time spent on it means it’ll be better as far as I’m concerned.
Im curious though, is it possible that this along with Rayman are being delayed in response to the lack of online?
One thing Nintendo should be doing is showing how good the online network is. The console comes out in just over a month and nobody knows how good the online will be. If I buy a game like Black Ops 2 on the Wii U the online has to be good.
Its funny how people are relating this delay to the Rayman delay as well. It also just so happens to be the two ONLY games I wanted to actually get for the Wii U at this time… sigh I preordered them and everything. Now I’ll have to settle for a game I was origionally going to get later on like Tekken Tag Tourney or somthing…

As much as I love Pikmin this was a great move by Nintendo, you cannot release all your great titles at once, Mario is a launch title and we all know what that means. No breathing room for back up :).
i was hoping for earlier in 2013 but spring works well enough! and it’ll give them more time to make it as good as possible. i’ve waited years for this. i can give it a couple extra months
As far as I’m concerned they can take as much time as they need on this. I want them to do their best because Pikmin is a phenomenal series

its only 8 years and it was originally planned for wii but the wii couldnt hadle to graphics so they had to restart on a new system

Okay.. I am really pissed about this game!! I wanted Pikmin 3 like many years ago! They should be doing a Pikmin 4 for gods sake! They have had a million years to develop the game. I dont understand what is taking it soo long. Finish the God Damn game already!!! I freaking want it!!!

Will can’t we at least get the plot of Pikmin 3!!! I want to know the story line. I also would like to see some spy shots besides just the demo version. I want to see photos of the actual adventure game. What does the spaceship look like? What does the new enemies look like? Do we go underground? Are their new features besides the ones we already know? What are we collecting this time? I wanna know all that!!! Can’t they at least tell us what this adventure is about!!!
Also I think now is the time to spill the beans on the pink flying Pikmin.
