Awesome.
the best Wii U update. loved the Wii Remote support.
i hope the Netflix app would add the Wii Remote support.
the ability to use Pro Controller and/or WIimote in Miiverse is a big plus too me. I prefer turning on my console with a Wiimote or Pro Controller, especially if I’m hopping right into a game. But sometimes, I like to just check Miiverse real quick. This will work out just fine!
cross-game chat for next update, i beg you nintendo
yyyeeeessss!!!
This!
great update, i’m enjoying it
still waiting for downloadable games to be attached to profile and not to system wont buy until this is available
Nintendo said they’re not doing it with the 3DS, so they probably won’t with the Wii U.
Talk about an update.
Oh, and I guess the Wii U got an update too.
This is great. Now update the SD Drive so we can save eShop games on our SD cartridge like I did my Wii.
this was a great update is it only me or has loading videos seem faster as well?
Took the Big N awhile but alas thier starting to fix thier mistakes.
Nintendo have done an excellent job improving the Wii U system for all of us… and the loading time from game (or app) to Wii U menu in less than 10 seconds.
In other words… super fast!
Definately a good update BUT:
The system is still slow. Everything is slow. Even though faster than before the update. Even my iPhone loads games faster, how is that possible? Takes 5 times longer to open an old Punch Out game on Wii U than opening Final Fantasy 3 on iPhone 3GS. I mean, wtf? A phone beats a gaming console on loading times. I think that’s not really acceptable in 2013. Or is it?
valid point… but remember it all depends on the system ram power
No, there are other factors, otherwise the system update wouldn’t have improved the loading times. The question is how the operating system utilizes the available RAM, for example how it implements paging and manages virtual memory.
Focus on home consoles… not iPhones, hater.
I hate to tell you that most of the softwares including Ninja Gaiden 3, Zen Pinball 2, and etc that available for all three systems (except Zen Pinball 2) tend to load slower on Wii U compared to PS3 and Xbox 360. PS3 and Xbox 360 can load a lot faster in term of digital download. As the disc goes, I am not really sure. The strange part is that the flash drive supposed to run faster than hard drive. I am assuming Nintendo put a limited on the RAM.
But the good news is there are one more update to fix the slow loading time in the summer.
Just be happy with what you’re getting on the Wii U instead of comparing consoles.
Wow this update is awesome, x3-x4 faster than before.
Dude cmon its super fat… way faster than any cd based concole. Your iphone loads faster because its a friggin phone with mcro apps. Evrything is compressed n scaled down.
Phone games are small…put angry birds on a console it will load fast. People are so impatient these days. 5 seconds of loading oh no my attention span is so short I got bored in 5 seconds and turned off my system.
Play games on your phone then. I’ll stick to the Wii U.
my gba loads faster than your iphone. your arguement is invalid
*chuckle*
Epic win.
Smartphones and tablets have about <1000 MB for apps. While the Wii U boots 1GB+ games/apps in less than 8.7 seconds.
yeah i guess… but iphones cost like over double the price,,…
Fast*
I’ve noticed a few other things, like the icon to switch videos from gamepad to TV has changed on the browser and videos are run a lot smoother on YouTube. The undo and redo buttons on the Miiverse is a lifesaver and the new look on My Nintendo News (on the Wii U browser) looks really nice!
Still gotta wait to get my Wii U back. 2 days or so.
Downloading now. Can’t wait :D
By the way. Anyone wanna be my friend? MjRA_MsK let me know if you add me and put your username in
Im digging the extra controller support for miiverse
These are some significant updates. Aside from greater OS speed, I like the ability to control Miiverse with a pro controller or Wiimote. A week ago I was curious as to whether I could write on Miiverse using my pro controller, in the event that something happened to my gamepad. When I realized I couldn’t, I was annoyed. Glad they fixed that.
yes, if only in the nest update they allow the system settings to be adjusted with a wiimote or pro controller, same goes for the eshop, imagine if one of your kids breaks the gamepad, your screwed, you cant change important settings or eshop, its ridiculous! i hope this gets sorted, an please for the love of god nintendo include a feature, where if the system power button is held for a few seconds, no matter what the system will auto shut down, like on my ps3, i hate on wii u when the damn system freezes an makes a loud irritating buzzing sound, an there is no way to turn the damn console off, unless you rip the ac adapter out of the system or switch off the plug, its stupid, an i should be able to turn off the system by holding down the power button, for a few seconds, an it auto shuts down!
I can second that! I got used to holding power down for computers (Mac and PC), Wii, PS3, (not sure about Xbox 360), and even Nintendo 3DS. I don’t understand why I can’t hold the Wii U power button down to turn off.
You can do that now! Today my brother unplugged the USB HD and the WiiU crashed. I would usually have to unplug but I could just hold down the power for 7 seconds.
So glad I can finally use the pro controller for miiverse and the internet
yeah thats nice i try not to use the wii u controller as much as possible
You try not to use the wii u Pro controller or the wii u gamepad?
“Improvements to system stability and usability” This is the most important part for me. Hopefully this means they fixed miiverse, tvii, and the youtube app from freezing.
Im happy that they fixed the load times cus i was really getting irritated with it..
I tried it after the download. This is much faster. I’m going to try other new features later today.
Reblogged this on M2wa2 DigiTech..
OH MY GOSH, To download the new update its going to take 12 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on my Wii U!
LMAO, i found the new update went live last night, when it was 1:30am in uk,. an it downloaded in 15minutes for me, hehe luckily i doubt most were hammering the nintendo network servers for it, an so it was fast, that ad my broadband is awesome!

I was excited to hear of Wii Remote support for the Wii U browser, until I found all it’s good for is clicking links or zooming in or out. No on-screen keyboard like the Wii browser had. :( I was surprisingly a fast typer on that browser with the Wii Remote, but I guess Nintendo won’t be carrying over that function on this one. Stinks…
they all seem like they should have been there in the first place.
Wow, the only post without a major arguement. Keep it up Nintendo news!
THE BEST THING IS THAT I CAN NOW FINALLY ADJUST THE SCREEN SIZE!!!
I know right? NO MORE OVERSCAN!!!! now you don’t miss anything! :D Sony never actualy fixed this on the PS3, I was already giving up the idea of Nintendo fixing it.
They already had that option, just not in System Settings.
For miiverse and the internet channel.
When I was playing moster hunter I couldn’t see my air when I was diving.
I hope to buy a Wii U soon.
They also added a clock while you are waiting to jump into Nintendo TV.
Nes and Snes games are nothing special to me. I want GC and DC Titles.
