Nintendo Force writer Emily Rogers has tweeted that the Nintendo 3DS firmware update which was scheduled to be released in October has apparently been delayed. Rogers also says that the Wii U system update which was supposed to come out a few months ago will be coming soon. Details regarding both updates are fairly scarce, so let’s hope we hear something official from Nintendo in the not too distant future.

They are if the ports to Wii U are crap, Splinter Cell on Wii U is ruined with all it’s bugged and terrible online connectivity, their treatment of Wii U is nothing but an after thought. I refuse to support a company that won’t properly support my console of choice, so to hell with them.
Buggy inline games are everywhere even on paid ones like Xbox live. Left for dead is horrible on Xbox live.
Splinter cell is good, no screen tearing and the gamepad use is great. Rayman Legends is the definitive version. Ac4 and Watchdogs will also be great.

The Wii U version of Splinter Cell indeed has bigger loading times, but they were reduced significantly after the latest patches and the game still looks better than the Xbox and (specially) the blurry PS3 version. Of course, the PC one is still better, but that’s to be expected of any game if the developers put even the smallest effort into the PC version.
Rayman Legends is the definitive version for sure, from the fact that it was designed from scratch to the GamePad to the little extras/nods, such as ‘Plumber Rayman’. And we even got the Challenges App months before the other consoles got the game’s demo.
So Ubisoft is taking steps in good faith. Hope they’ll still find reasons to keep up (that is, we keep buying their games on Wii U when available).

Such ‘terrible’ online connectivity is due to a low number of people playing which is then sourced by the mentality of Nintendo fans. The game is barely buggy. There are a ton of games that are way glitchier than that.

They have been really good about porting things over, even releasing a AAA exclusive title. I can tell even from the name that it was a low-budget title that got overblown PR. Nothing but an experiment to test the sales they could get on the Wii U with camouflaged shovelware.
It was a poor game, but it still sold. At least obviously enough to make them a profit, this game didn’t get a fourth of the budget AC titles get annually.

I’m not getting it because there’s so many other games coming out this year still and they missed their chance when I WAS going to buy it, back in spring. I’m not gonna choose Rayman over the other fall/winter blockbusters (though I’m probably not going to get Watch_Dogs anymore, Splinter Cell Blacklist is one of the most pathetic releases I’ve seen in years).

Meh, that game is sooo bugged and has crap online that freezes and Ubisoft has yet to do anything about it nor do they care so if I don’t support Ubisoft it’s because they don’t properly support the Wii U.
I have played through the campaign and side missions twice (Normal and realistic), and regularly play co-op with a coworker. I am now playing the game again, this time perfectionist. No freezes, graphical issues, or online co-op issues. It not only is one of the best 3rd party games on Wii U, it is the best Splinter Cell since the original. Oh, and I’m playing from a disc, with LAN adapter straight to Uverse Hub. Always connects to UPlay, already redeemed UPlay bonuses, and have both DLC packs (plus my pre-order bonus). Sorry you are having issues, but can’t say it is the game (from my experience).
Good I avoided that crap once I heard the offline was pointlessly gimped out while other versions enjoy their full package just like every other 3rd party game that wanted to intentionally ruin Wii U because its not a PS4.

I have a problem that’s somehow related to the system (software).
I own a Wii U since Wednesda, everything’s fine Nintendo convinced me to like it and all. I use the webbrowser to watch Youtube which worked fine until recently. Every single video makes the console freeze before playback. None of the “fixes” works, no deleting of cookies, no data reset, no _popup Nothing.
I don’t want to try it out anymore because I don’t wwant to break the console.
I hope this gets fixed with that update everyone’s talking about!

Yeah, it’s really annoying me, but if a video doesn’t have ads it doesn’t freeze. I emailed Nintendo about it, but they haven’t gotten back to me yet.
You mean to tell me your Wii U has been freezing on YouTube too? It frozed that I had to pull the plug and plug it back in. But Nintendo was too stupid to think about upgrades in 2008 when building Wii U. They just focused on 360/PS3. In fact sometimes My Wii U can’t load Netflix. Its just showing a spyro that never loads. At least on a cell phone or tablet, it let’s you know about App upgrades.

i have the same issue. started to use youtube app while Ninty fix the problem. as a programmer its clearly a youtube error because Ninty software havent changed (they havent release nothing and stop working fine). Sure Ninty will talk to youtube to fix the issue soon. (that issue its really annoying).

Can 1gig and 3 cores handle communication for Infinity? Remember its supposed to be weak. If Nintendo over clocks this some more after that big upgrade, I hope its limited 1 gig can handle it. Glad to see another person with common sense. Ubisoft is one of the few companies showing the Wii U some love. Emily Rogers tweets are probably my favorite tweets to read.
1) There’s a 3DS update? Heard nothing of it. Delayed anyway, so meh.
2) How soon is sooner than we think? If we get it at the end of the week. Fair enough.
*Addendum: I hope the two updates remove region lock too, but that’s optimism.*
3) There’s only two Ubi games worth purchasing, Rayman Legends (because Wii U version is definitive and superior), and Watch_Dogs (because Game Pad support). Assassins Creed 4 maybe, but it’s not on my list.

This is pretty confusing. I’m not sure if the 3ds version is going to be like the Wii U version except on the 3ds or if it will be completely made for the 3ds with the ability to post screenshots from games like Animal Crossing New Leaf, Pokemon X,Y etc. But of they were going to do the latter why would release a whole app on the Wii U to share your Animal Crossing pictures if you would be able to do on Miiverse via the 3ds in a few months anyway? Whatever though, I hope there are 3ds game communities but if there isn’t I’m okay with that. But what I’m really curious about is what the new WIi U update is!

I hope that the 3DS update fixes the connection problems on Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I’m getting mighty sick of my game going to an error screen every time I try playing an island tour with other players. Then going back to my home town, with all island progress erased. That REALLY sucks!
