Nintendo of America has yet to say when US consumers will be getting their hands on the New Nintendo 3DS. However, a source at GameStop has apparently revealed that the console will launch in the United States on February 13th. The company has apparently already received marketing material for the console in a few of its stores. This is just a rumour but it is expected in either February or March.

Surprisingly I’m not even excited for these new handhelds. The only feature I like is the improved 3D Graphics via head-tracking. And I play my 3DS mostly in the dark so I doubt it will even work properly.
I’ll just stick to my Midnight Purple 3DS.
The face-tracking works in the dark. It’s infrared-based, I believe.
I’m gonna have to do more research. I hope that’s true. Still doubt it’s worth it to me to buy a brand new system. I don’t have much time to play video games anymore and when I do I play my Wii U.
My 3DS rarely ever leaves the bathroom. lol. I keep it in sleep mode with Super Smash Bros idling so I can pick up and play when dooty calls.

Australian new 3ds XL owner here, and I can verify it works perfectly in the dark. The only issue with the face tracking is because it’s tracking your face, if you turn away or your face gets obscured by your hand, arm or something large, the 3d effect will snap back into place once it re-establishes your face structure again. The system is really, really good. Should be a no brainer for anyone upgrading from an original 3ds.
Same. I have no interest in the new 3DS. They just don’t have enough improvements and features to make me wanna spend even MORE money.

Lighting will not effect the head tracking on the 3ds. I’m super hyped for the new 3ds. Better graphics, faster processor, and better 3d. What’s not to like?

If this is true then that pretty much guarantees that the alleged upcoming Direct will be about the New 3DS. Regardless, once the release date becomes official I will be preordering my copy and selling my 3DS XL

Of course! You should’ve played mk8 with my friend and I tonight, we played at least like 2 hours. School is really heavy for me, but I’m trying to make more time to play. I’ve also been playing a lot of single player games like Bayonetta, Captain Toad, Hyrule Warriors and Persona Q. But I have all of those so I’ll definitely try to put aside some time. I don’t get home until about 5pm (CT) so anytime after that is good. 😄

Actually, you don’t have to keep it on all the time. Unfortunately, I don’t have regular access to the internet for gaming at home. Connecting online usually requires me to go somewhere else that has wi-fi. (Like taking my Wii U over my cousins house) I don’t usually get to go over there much but if I do, I’ll probably let you know. As for my 3DS though, I can get online Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I usually get on around 6-7PM. There’s a chance I may appear on other days, but not likely. Mainly those two days. Just thought I had to let you know this now so you won’t think I disappeared or something and stopped playing my Wii U. Also, you’re already on my friends list. This is a mobile device. And even if it was HD your eyes probably wouldn’t even notice much of a difference because of the screen size. And the Wii U runs in HD already

It’s cuz since the ps4 came out, the vitas sales have sky rocketed. Sony is doing everything right with the ps4 and the wii u sucks. I mean within a couple months the ps4 outsold the wii u which was out for over a year Nintendo needs to get up to fate with technology

Just because PS4 is selling more it doesn’t mean they are doing everything right. For starters they aren’t attempting on putting many exclusives on their system. Mostly they are made by a 3rd party. Wii U not having 3re parties is their problem not Nintendo. 3rd parties haven’t been releasing a lot of good games lately anyway

If what you’re saying is true, then it’s about time the Vita started selling. And although there are many on the site who don’t use the 3D, I love it and would choose 3D over HD any day.
That said, some lower res of HD would be nice, but that puts a strain on the handheld developers and indie devs.

Well… this will probably be the third year in a row where my birthday consists of me getting a new gaming device. Two years ago, I got my Wii U for my birthday, last year’s birthday money was used toward me getting a Playstation 4, and this year looks like I’ll finally be able to replace my 3DS. About time… for the last six-ish months, the touch screen has been getting increasingly screwy, the top screen is getting scratched from where the bottom screen’s border hits it when the system is closed, and my R-button only registers that I hit it one in every eight-to-ten times.
When I’m suffering from insomnia I’ll come back and read this comment

I was wondering… I still play with my 2011 3Ds, never got a 3Ds XL, and I’m really used to it. Would it be much of a difference to get the New 3Ds XL (mostly graphics-wise).

If you like to use the 3D alot but hate how you have to hold the 3DS a specific way to get the best out of it, this New 3DS eliminates that problem as the cameras are used to help with the 3D so wherever you move your face, within view of the camera, of course, the 3D will not fall out of focus.
