The Nintendo Wii looks set to face even tougher competition than previously expected in Europe as the Redmond based company Microsoft has announced that it’s set to unleash an action-packed Gears Of War Xbox 360 Christmas bundle.
The hefty package is set to comprise of an Xbox 360 premium unit, one wireless controller, and a copy of the exceptionally , well received third person shoot-em-up Gears Of War for the rather enticing sum of £299.99.
In a move which is sure to induce anger amongst rival high street gaming chains, aspiring online-store Play.com has already lowered the already reasonable price point to a undoubtedly tempting £269.99 price point.
This rather bold, and provocative move is bound to entice those consumers who’ve been waiting to delve into some Xbox 360 gaming, but have held off due to its reasonably extravagant price point, and lack of triple ‘A titles.
The all-important question is: Will this inevitable move from Microsoft severely damage Nintendo Wii sales?
It’ll be tough enough to buy a Wii this holiday season. I think the people who wanted to buy an XBOX 360, would’ve done so already. Most people I know who have an XBOX 360, didn’t even know about Gears of War until I told them, let alone holiday buyers.
Anyway, it seems as though Microsoft is feeling the pressure of its competition. Someone’s about to crack!
I don’t think even that would get me to buy a 360. I’d sure go for one of the 1000 Xbox360’s Amazon will be selling tonight for $100 though.
Eventually I might get one, but not before the Wii obviously!
At work I’ve noticed an influx of customers enquiring about what packages we currently have on offer regarding the Xbox 360. Occasionally the name Gear Of War is muttered in regards to what additional game they’d be after. I think this package will sell the console to quite a few consumers…
