The Nintendo Ds continued its dominance throughout the Christmas period trouncing any console standing within its wake, as recent figures from Chart Track confirm just how well the hand-held stood up against its rival format the PSP.
In the three hectic and benevolent weeks leading up to Christmas, an impressive 250,000 Ds Lites were sold to eager consumers. Fortunes were not quite as good for Sony, which only managed to shift a pitiful 166,00 units of its PSP console.
Weak sales for the PSP lead leading industry pundits to believe that Sony will make a long-needed price cut to its flailing system. This isn’t at all what Sony need, as its recently released PlayStation 3 console also comes under criticism by respected journalists.
isnt that meant to be floors not flaws….?
english was never my strongest either
Whoops, thanks for pointing that out.
DS’s were sold out everywhere here in Brighton (as well as the Wii, but that goes without saying right?), no sight of PSP/PS2 shortages though.
We had an impressive influx of customers over Christmas buying up all our Ds Lites. Once they’d all been snapped up, our hardware sales dropped dramatically. We had shelve upon shelves of black and white PSP’s, but sprawling empty white spaces where the Ds’es usually reside. It was totally insane.
hey people. i was checking out the sales of Ds’s in the USA and apparently they sold an amazing 900,000 in the chrsitmas period… plus in a week the Ds sold about 500.000 in Europe.
Sony has lots of catching up to do…lots of critics think that there will not be any other PS following the PS3 due to the enormous loss of money Sony has on Sales of the PS3. they might stop making PS’s cause its not profitable anymore… suckers….
ok guys, look, i found some neat info that maybe everyone here might like to have a look at… this is the site: http://www.pro-g.co.uk/news/11-12-2006-4264.html ok, this baby is simply saying that Nintendo is developing a New Zelda and its already been in development for a year… apparently its a very trustful source cause i heard of this game magazine and many say its one of the most complete magazines of games (its mentioned in the site)
see ya later
It could be that people are buying the DS because it’s seen as being “cooler” by their peers.
I love how DS owns PSP. *Bwa-ha-ha-ha-haaaa!*
