Unbeknown to most gamers, the predominant first person shooter Halo which derived from the Xbox was set to make a welcomed appearance on the Nintendo Ds, but has subsequently been cancelled.
This surprising, and ultimately bewildering news comes courtesy of Matt Casamassina, Editor-in-chief at IGN, who states on his official blog that “a currently unknown publisher had contacted Microsoft and got the ball rolling on a very unlikely project: Halo for Nintendo DS.”
Although details on the game are rather scarce, Matt claims to have laid eyes upon the hallowed game and raises complimentary comparisons with Nintendo’s premier first person shooter; Metroid Prime Hunters, which is currently available for the hand-held device.
Apparently this genuinely exciting prospect of a title was nearing completion, when due to undisclosed reasons the project was unfortunately canned, leaving what could have been a premier system seller eating the proverbial dust. Let’s hope the title resurfaces in some shape or form in the near future, eh?
I had no idea Halo was even due to appear on the DS! That woulda been pretty cool. Even though I don’t really like Halo. Donthateme! *ducks and cowers*
Wha?! It must be April the 1st. Must be. Although, if what Matt claims is true (that there was little GRAPHICAL (ZOMG? The Wii can’t do somethings that the XBOX can…) difference between that DS Alpha and the XBOX Halo… What they could do is just lift everything, change everything with a Halo connection and release it. So it becomes a unique IP and a big seller. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Wow, that would have been pretty awesome if it had happened. Anyway, hope TMS’s idea comes true. I haven’t played much Halo but I remember liking what i have played.
It shouldn’t be Microsoft’s decision to cancel it. Microsoft has no hand-held department, so it’s possible for Bungie to create the game for the DS.
If anything, it would most likely to be Bungie’s decision to cancel the project. Sad news none the less.
