Nintendo: Smash Brothers Creator Wants To Make HD Games

Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has recently been playing Crysis 2 and was so enamoured with the HD visuals he has told fans on Twitter that he wishes to make a game in High Definition.

“I’d like to try HD at some point. I wonder if I’ll get the opportunity?”

“For today’s HD games, is it no good if you can’t make graphics of this level?”

  1. I love Nintendo, but I’ll be very disappointed if they doesn’t announce a Wii HD on E3 in June. I know they tend to (say that they) focus more on the quality of the entertainment than on their hardware, but it’s 2011; HD TVs have been common for more than a decade. Come on, Nintendo!

    1. Nintendo Has stated over and over again that the next console in their lineup will have more than just “HD”, HD is cool and all but Nintendo Always needs something new in there consoles, since HD has been done already we can expect an a HD console, with a twist, now whether or not it appears in E3, that no1 knows, especially since Wii is still selling strong even without HD.

    2. Nintendo have said they don’t want to take the focus away from the 3DS for now so I doubt we’ll be seeing any drastic new hardware at E3.

Plus Nintendo said they wouldn’t announce their next console until the Wii hit the 45 million mark (or something close to that).

Plus Nintendo haven’t made an updated version of a homeconsole since the NES Toploader.

  2. Nice, I think Mario Galaxy would look amazing in HD, assuming the next console would be backwards compatible.

  3. Every-time I hear Masahiro Sakurai, I just want to spam his wall and ask for Smash Bros 3D. One Day, maybe on virtual console.

  4. Actually the Wii has hit the 45 million mark. It has hit the 80 million mark. It wouldnt make much sense just to re-release it in hd…
