Nintendo Wii U: Tekken For Wii U Is Still In Pre-Production

Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada has told an audience in France that Tekken for Wii U is still in pre-production. Apparently the project is being managed by a separate team devoted to checking out new technology, who’re currently evaluating Nintendo’s forthcoming console. Sounds as though we’ve got quite a wait ahead of us.

“Once this assessment and the various research projects completed, they send us these results and we can look more specifically above. But we are not at this stage today.”

“The project is still in its infancy.”

  1. I can wait… Super Smash Bros. 4 can hold me off…

    …But SSB4 isn’t going to be a launch title…

It would be cool if they made Nintendo Vs. Capcom for Wii U! With Smash gameplay and Versus gameplay… That would be so cool!

But I doubt they would be able to finish it by launch…

    1. Yeah, have you seen what they did with Tekken in that Streetfighter vs Tekken game? They practically ruined what made Tekken an awesome game. They also screwed up on Marvel vs Capcom and are rereleasing the game AGAIN! Sorry, we already have too many of those fighting games. Leave Smash Bros to Nintendo with many some cool additions that don’t involve Stree Fighter characters (other than Blanca).

      1. Its not supposed to look or play like tekken. its supposed to play like street fighter(4) with tekken elements and characters along with capcoms own additions to make it better,,and also UMVC3 is not a re release btw any good characters are welcome regardless where they’re from

    2. What characters will be on SSB4? I am so excited for it, but I dont wanna get it if it’s going to be a ripoff… please tell me, I WANNA KNOW!!! X(

  2. How could this be? Isn’t Tekken the game they showed off at the Wii U’s unveiling, with the ability to draw on character’s faces? Or is that a different fighting game I’m thinking of?

    1. They added that feature, but the overall “demo” used assets from Tekken 6. They will need to work on a story, if any, and other features. They mean that this other team will hand them the things they they could do with Wii U like connection and stuff and if you can use the 3DS version of the game or something.

  3. Ok, can people stop saying “Smash Bros is not a launch title,” or “Smash bros 4 will keep me busy.” Seriously, the game may not come out in 3 years at the earliest.

I still have the other games at launch, so being a little late is no big deal. I haven’t played Tekken for a long time since it was in the arcades. Keep in mind that Dead or Alive 5 has been announced and considering the relationship between Team Ninja and Nintendo, that game is but confirmed for Wii U. Plus, why wouldn’t they do that if it’s a multiplat? It means more for them. Plus, I really like the circle pad on the 3DS for fighters. It’s far more more confortable for those games than a console analog stick.
