Rumours emerged a month or so ago that Sony were working on their own Super Smash Bros clone and it now appears as though the title is coming into fruition. According to the Paul Gale Network the game is named Title Fight and is a joint venture from Sony and Superbot Entertainment.
The project is said to feature a host of characters from Sony’s first-party studios including Uncharted’s Nathan Drake, Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth, Killzone’s Colonel Radec, Fat Princess, Kratos, Sly Cooper and PaRappa the Rapper. Super Bot and Sony are currently on the verge of announcing the game.
Lame name really and it gonna be boring since none of those characters they own are interesting. Just a bunch of humanoid.

Drake and Kratos are hugely famous, Fat Princess was a small success (and actually a very good game) and Parappa is actually very famous for people of my generation, and surely even more for the next one as i was already in my teenage years when it came out. it was incredibly big at the time, i think maybe the first console rhythm game to have success in the west, but i can only talk about Europe and Japan.
but i agree, it will surely fail as, despite what sony thinks, they don’t really have any character famous or dear enough to attract all kinds of audience. Nintendo has been creating a huge amount of famous franchises and characters for the last 30 years, so they could do “Smash Bros”, Square-Enix had 20+ years of success with “Final Fantasy” so they could do “Dissidia”, Namco had 15 years of success with the “Tales of” games so they couid come up with “Tales of VS”. Sony simply can’t.

Personally I believe you’re wrong, people want to see how their favoured characters stack up against others, story has a huge role to play in many video games nowadays, NOT just bloodshed and violence. If there was no story there would be no point, you wouldn’t feel as though you’re achieving anything, except in Multiplayer online when you prove you’re faster than the other guy sighting down his barrel at you. But this is one style of game that will flop, especially in direct comparison to SSB, it doesn’t have the character line-up, and dare I say it win’t have as many little things or attention to very minor details and character traits, to make this an arcade style fighting game people will want to play like they have for SSB, and others of the genre, it’s very hard to make it in that particular genre of games, I think it will flop as Christian stated.

because it’s about a fighting game by sony that involves 1st party characters, which is a concept that nintendo made a game out of 12 years ago. sure, the gameplay style may be diifferent, but it’s still a game about a bunch of first party characters fighting each other.

I won’t call it a clone just yet. We have no details other that it’s name and it’s characters. Gameplay may be very different. Could be less of a party game, may be 3D, may be more “mature” (like mortal combat). We don’t know enough to call it a SSB clone yet.
Surely if taking a group of charcters from different franchises and putting them in a fighting game classifies it as a SSB clone then Marvel vs. Capcom is, or Tatsunoku vs. Capcom? I didn’t see much “PLAGIARISM DERP” when these were announced though.

TMNT smash up was a SSB clone. stupidly on PS2 along with Wii. it was fine it was on Wii, but PS2? c’mon… how can you even enjoy SSB with 2 players, MAX? fail.

That was done by one of the teams that worked in SSBB. They were able to slip that out due to their work with the game. Otherwise, I think Nintendo has the fighting system trademarked so that others won’t imitate that. That event may lead Nintendo to be more strict with the developers they hire to work on their franchises. All of that for a small success.

Nope. Not even a screenshot. Every single detail about this game that is out in the public is nothing more than a rumor at this point. Heck, even “Title Fight” is rumored to be its CODENAME, not the actual name of the game. But we’ll see. Sometime next year, more info will reveal itself.

Other than Fat Princess, I’ve heard of all the names here. The only sad thing is that characters that would probably work for Sony, like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro, aren’t Sony’s anymore. Sony also tried to make a Mario kart clone and we all know how that was. It had awesome features but nothing beats the original. Sony’s characters don’t have enough magic for me to be interested in them.

It would be awesome to play smash bros with characters from all over the world of gaming but as that will never happen we’ll have to go with the closest thing we can get even if it is as rumoured a clone.

Super Smash Bros/Title Fight – this is the worst comparison so far, 1) because the rumor says its going to play like MK, and 2) because we have yet to see any actual gameplay, or anything.
Kid Icarus/God of War – kid icarus was a 2d sidescroller that was released in 1986 and it played like the metroid series, GoW was released in 2005 and its a HackNslash game. how do you even compare them??

It’s a RIPOFF because taken a Successful Fighting Game Idea of Gameplay and characters roster selection, and the music and stages that from each of the franchises games and developers of those game work together was Nintendo Idea.
And according to rumors the game WILL PLAY LIKE Mortal Kombat. Not like SSB, because we can have violence in our games.

A Smash’Clone was Battle Stadium D.O.N.. Was a good game, many characters like Naruto, Goku, Luffy and more.

They’ve been mentioned already but there are a couple of reasons why this won’t be anything special… Of that list of characters I only know two or three off the bat, whereas a lot of the Smash Bros staples are very well known, and in general very well liked. The actual system of fighting (where you accumulate damage as opposed to losing health) works great in Smash Bros because of the nature of the characters. Pikachu can quick attack back to the stage, Ness can blast himself back and so on. If they implement that it’ll be interesting to see how it works, but on the flip side if they don’t implement it then there’s nothing to separate it from any other fighting game…

If its real then I wish sony luck and welcome the game! Theres finally a competitor for smash bros. This will drive both companies to be better than the other. I felt like it was too slow, Brawl IMHO had to be the weakest of all 3 smash.. i hope they the new smash is more like melee.

the characters felt to sluggish, and the ones that we’rent (pit & metaknight) were too over powered, and god, link and fox were completely stripped down… i did enjoy the trophies and the smash balls, they should keep that

I don’t know what’s wrong with you guys, I found Brawl better than Melee (don’t know about the first though). The characters had better moves, more levels, and better balancing (this is generally why people like Melee more; their characters were more powerful in Melee). But then again, I like the slower, more strategic gameplay of Brawl where more skill and timing is involved, versus Melee’s quick-reaction style of gameplay.
Ditto. The fact that you could win most of the characters through Subspace Emissary was kind of wack though.

Many other companies had made their own smash bros clone and no one is complaining. Why is everyone complaining now????
People complained back then, and even that Ninja Turtles Smash Up or whatever was critized because it was done by one of the teams that helped develop SSBB even using the same engine and was released on the PS2 as well. It’s just that every clone to this day has flopped. Sony is a direct competitor, so people get more wind of this.
There were more smash bros clones even before Ninja Turtles Smash Up. Digimon Rumble Arena was released on the first Playstation. Digimon Rumble Arena 2 was released on all three consoles(GCN,PS2,Xbox). And Japan had a bunch of fighters similar to smash bros clones like Jump Ultimate Stars, D.O.N. and DreamMix TV World Fighters which featured Solid Snake.
But I guess you are right about people getting pissed about Sony making the game. I for one can’t wait to see how it turns out. It’s better to have more games like Smash Bros since we only one Smash Bros. per generation.

I would like to see microsoft, sony and nintendo favourites, duking it out on one game, that would be kind of like gamer heaven.
Speculation here : But who’s to say the game won’t be in a cartoon-esque style? That in itself would make it pretty interesting. Cartoon Drake and Radec? Fun time to me.
What does this have to do with Nintendo?
If you look in a thesaurus, you’ll see that that another word for brawl is fight so maybe this really is a clone. And yes, this is Nintendo related because 1st party characters in one screen attacking each other to death(basically) sound familiar? I just think Nintendo is quicker in making games that are good.

I personally think the company is oblivious to Nintendo’s existence, except the R&D department who have a Wii that they play. Then When their boss comes, they show their “prototypes” such as their Wii MotionPlus Controller.

I’m confused how Sweet Tooth would play in a SSB-like fighting game… unless it’s some sort of kart racer? I could see Crash Bandicoot, or hell, even Sack Boy being fun to play this game with, but that’s about it. A guy from Killzone? REALLY? Wow. Nice try once again to copy Nintendo, Sony.
