Dead Space 3 Isn’t Coming To Wii U

Steve Papoutsis, Vice President and General Manager of Visceral Games and Executive Producer for the Dead Space franchise, has told a fan on Twitter that a Wii U version of Dead Space 3 isn’t on the cards.

“Hello Steve. May I ask if DS3 is planned for Wii U ? It could be fun with asymetrical gameplay, nope?”

“Not currently in the plan.”

    1. I play them all on my PC… so this does not bother me. I can see those that not into PC gaming and only own the Wii U having a problem with this.

  1. Let me define… Not currently in the plan and Isnt coming at all are two different terms… May not be coming is more appropriate

  2. Sounds like the Wii U version might not be out for a while but it could happen, we have a long way to wait for Dead Space 3 since its out next year, but who knows.

Maybe it will be developed for the Wii U at a later date much like Mass Effect 3 and Batman did or it could be that it won’t come out for the system, I’m hoping it will

  3. i don’t GET these freaking developers, i mean, WHY NOT?, why won’t you put it on the Wii U? is it cause you don’t wanna do something creative with the controller??? you can’t make excuses like you did with the fucking wii, it pisses me off.

  4. zombiu will satisfy our survival horror itch until re6 comes out for wiiu. which it must or else capcom will suffer.

  5. I’m a huge Dead Space fan, and this might have been a bigger issue for me if it wasn’t for EA and their “innovative” ways to f**k up games these days. I want multiplayer on DS, yet DS 2 got it. Co-op is the last thing I needed in DS, yet DS 3 will have it. Not to mention, DS3 seems to play like Gears of War. That demo they showed at E3 did not look like DS at all. I can accept the cover system, but what’s up with all other mechanics? More action? WTF? A dodge system? We already had melee attacks and stasis system.

Seriously, if I get this game at all, I’ll get it for PC; I’m not very enthusiastic about it though. Another franchise that goes down the hole. This gen, we have seen the birth of several awesome franchises that are either dead/disappointing or overused by now. I did not want DS to go that route, and this is a single gen!

  6. i really don’t care about Dead space 3. Dead space 3 is not a survival horror game no more. looks more like Resident evil 5 co-op.

  7. I’m so tired of this fucking bullshit. Nintendo develops a console that can do the fancy graphics that the PS3 and the 360 exhibit, and what happens, pretty much 70% of the game development studios hang the fuck back and don’t do anything about it. Assholes.

    1. Because they’re developing games now that won’t be out for a year or two, or more… an they’re looking to the other new consoles and seeing they’re more powerful and can do more, not just better graphics. Better physics, bigger worlds, more NPCs, better everything.

Wii I does slightly better graphics than we have now, and has a touchscreen… cool for some games, but not enough for most developers; they want to push the boundaries of gaming, not just add some controller-centric features. Again, some games it’s a no brainer to use the extra screen. Other games? It’d just feel bolted on or forced in. Why do that when you can have a much more powerful console that will allow for more options, AND much better graphics?

      1. Isn’t that what the normal controller is for? From what we’ve heard about ports, they could probably easily port it to Wii U and use its better tech for an altogether better game.
And when there are few games on a console where your game isn’t too much like others, that’s when you want to put it on. You can make the most money by filling the gap. So unless they’re worried that a better game that has the same gamplay style will come out exclusively for Wii U, it doesn’t make much sense to hold it back.

        1. It does make sense when the Wii U is significantly less capable of physics, evironments, game engines (Unreal4, etc.). If those other consoles have all that and Wii U doesn’t, then having a game controller doesn’t mean anything. Especially when considering that when you take away the touchscreen, what the Wii U basically is, is a slightly upgraded XBOX360. Certainly not 7 years worth of upgrade. To be 7 years after XBOX360 and be only slightly more capable? That’s a bit of a red flag to developers. And I agree completely.

Graphics aren’t everything, but I’d you aren’t pushing the limits of more than just 1 area (how to play games, in Nintendos case), developers won’t want to invest in your console. XBOX720 and PS4 will allow for more advanced engines, which means more than just more pretty pictures.

          1. They never officially announced that it cant do that stuff, so unless your an inside developer, or part of Nintendo stop pulling speculation out of your ass. Its highly annoying.

  8. I would only get this for Wii U. All those little hologram things that appear on the character’s arm- those should be the information on the controller. Because you’re (technically) not looking at what Isaac’s looking at

  9. I’ll just get it for PS3 then…even though I think what was shown at E3 was shit and in the complete opposite direction of the first game. Oh well.

  10. This doesn’t make any sense. There’s no excuse for multiplatform games to not come to Wii U. I was really ticked off that the Wii didn’t have these awesome multiplatform titles and so far it seems as though not much has changed. I’m really excited for Wii U, but so many games that I want this year are only coming out on PS3 and Xbox and PC. I guess I’ll just have to wait for later games to see if the term ‘multiplatform’ will be legit.

  11. It probably is actually they don’t say it isn’t coming, they’re just saying that they are not currently working on it. Also, its completely possible that they are working on it, because I’m fairly certain that the NDA agreement is still in effect, so they could just be covering their ass.
