The Oddest cross-over tend to happen these days. Since both series use Magic I’m expecting some kind of Magic plothole device that is causing all the trouble. But I’m really looking forward to.

This title sounds amazing! The Wii U is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with in Japan because of Dragon Quest X, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and now Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. The only series it needs now is Final Fantasy and it’s sales will skyrocket through the roof. I’m also excited for what looks to be Xenoblade 2.

Might I just ask, for anyone who’s dabbled in Shin Megami Tensei; what are the games like? As in, what is the gameplay generally like.

Traditionally, they’re turn-based RPGs with a focus on the supernatural. The main themes differ depending on the sub-franchise. Digital Devil Saga focuses on a world called the Junkyard, where the factions are constantly warring to rule the Junkyard and reach Nirvana, but become cannabalistic demons at the beginning. Persona focuses on everyday people getting the power to summon a facet of their psyche in the form of a demon, and have to solve some mystery. The flagship series (including things like Nocturne) are about end of the world and such.
Then you have a couple offshoots like Devil Survivor, which is a turn-based strategy in the vain of Fire Emblem; and Devil Summoner, an action-RPG about a detective dealing with demons.

Interesting idea for a crossover. Seeing that Atlus and IS are two of my favorite developers, I may end up being entitled to buy a Wii U at some point. Though I’ve never played a Shin Megami Tensei game (unless you count Persona 3) so I may have to try to play another game of the series before considering purchasing a Wii U for this game.
