Although it’s possible for Dead Island: Riptide to run on Wii U, the action role-playing game is skipping Nintendo’s latest console. Earlier today, the publisher of the upcoming game, Deep Silver, was asked, via Twitter, to give a reason for as to why it’s not coming to Wii U. The publisher said it looked at whether it would be worth releasing Dead Island Riptide on Wii U but ultimately decided against it. Dead Island: Riptide launches in April on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
What exactly is the reason behind not putting RipTide on the Wii U? Is Nintendo forcing you to incorporate touch controls?
Deep Silver: We looked at whether it would be worth releasing it on Wii U, but decided against it.
Apparently a wise decision if sales numbers for Zombi U are anything to go by.
ZombiU sold well though..
Yeah ZombiU is actually doing pretty well.
Is this mean good http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70793/zombiu/
Guess they dont like money.
The cost would have likely outweighed the gain – At least I’m sure that’s what they figured.
I remember the time the ps360 where in the same predicament. Kids this day have no love for history.
Yup. New systems never get every game. It takes time.
Let them be just cause they say no today dosnt mean is not a Yes tomorrow.
oh yes it will!
isn’t this the third time you guys have posted this story?
Yeah, but it was diferent comments from the creaters of Dead Island. We still haven’t really learned anything new however.
They might change their minds if Wii U sales reach atleast 8 million…
Other than that it’s not a huge loss for our Empire…
Once our own weapons are released, these tribes will see that they really should leave luck to heaven…
7 months after Riptide launch: We would like to announce Dead Island: Riptide is coming to the Wii U, 9 months from now, for a MSRP of $60
Thats less time than when it was happening on ps3.
Wii U needs to move more consoles so it attracts more skeptical 3rd parties.
Problem with that is, the best way to do that will be with first party games.
And then those will compete with the 3rd party games.
So ultimately we will have developers like this, always finding excuses to back off.
I always find it fascinating that these big 3rd-Party Publishers Don’t want to put Their games on the Wii U because it doesn’t have a Large Install Base.
Yet, in order for a console to GET a Stong Install base, it needs GAMES to be on it. . . .
They are Contridicting themselves, HOW do Publishers expect a console to have a large install base if they don’t put their GAMES on it???!!
They are Actually FORCING Nintendo to Increase their Install base by themselves.
(Heh, Not that it’ll be a problem) Once that 3D Mario & Mario Kart get announced, Wii Us will fly off the shelves. Though its taking much longer than I would’ve liked we’ll get the games.
Mario Always sells systems/
And I highly Doubt the PS4/720s Launches will be any better, especially with their high priced consoles.

@ Sergio111293, You have taken the words right out of my mouth. I was just about to come on and post a similar thought. These companies can sit and hind behind their corporate lingo, but yes there are no games out on the WiiU, (well now except for Lego City and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate), Nintendo has already addressed the issue in prior Nintendo Directs saying “We apologize for the lack of games, they are coming, bear with us”. Bottom line is 3rd parties dont wanna release on the WiiU cuz of units sold, well PUT GAMES OUT ON THE WIIU.
YES! I’m always saying these exact words. How the FUCK do these developers expect a new console to sell units if they don’t fucking put games on it in the first place? If they put their games on the console, it’d sell more units. But they refuse to put games on it because it’s not selling as many units as they want it to… it’s just an endless cycle. I wish these developers would actually grow a brain.
square and capcom are on board but only just. i say all 3rd parties should release their games to wii u as they have nothing to lose
I miss THQ. =(
The THQ Armada destroyed itself…
The incompetent ones must not be missed…
The Sega Kingdom might be an exception…
I only miss them for Darksiders.
Considering the first game, i decided against even paying attention to this game
Same here, bought the first game, grew bored of it the first few hours in..
Should’ve saved time and said this from the start. Oh well, who else is excited for the Wii U version of Watch Dogs? Ubisoft is sure fighting for our money more than Deep Silver is.
I sure am…
After the Great Ubisoft Controversy, the Ubisoftians redeemed themselves by announcing this game for Wii U…
I just hope the obvious Gamepad/Hackerphone is done similarnto what we expect and not just some dull map…
stfu…. please just shut. the. fuck. up. I find you more annoying than the trolls
Agreed.
+1
Maybe you should just piss off and stop complaining?…
Nobody is forcing you to read everything…
And the only annoying thing here is you, how about you let people express themselves as they want to?…
Or you can go read on the Xbot forums if you like trolls better…
No loss. Judging by the first game, zombiu will be better than riptide anyway.
Basically, they don’t think it will sell well.
you cant really blame them based on the wii u sales and the difference between the 1st party and the third party. other than dance games and party/family/minigames, virtually nothing sold well on the wii
It’s a simple formula. Nintendo games sell Nintendo consoles. And when Nintendo consoles start selling, third parties start publishing.
The Wii U is a great machine, but it NEEDS those first party titles! Pikmin 3, Super Smash Bros. 4, 3D Super Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda, whatever Retro Studios is working on, etc.
What’s the reason for not putting the game on Wii U?
“We decided against it.”
WHAT’S THE REASON FOR DECIDING AGAINST IT *facepalm*
Deep Silver: “Because we said we’re against it and um, next question”
lol bad
“Well you see first we thought about putting our game into the available hands of every gamer, then we thought fuck the WiiU because their fan base doesn’t exist. That and we are pricks.” First you lie saying you can’t do it then you get called out and suddenly act like professionals making a good business decision? Seems like your business isn’t appreciated here. We would much rather have publishers we can trust thank you.
The Wii U has it’s work cut out for it, but that doesn’t mean its going to be GameCube 2. Check out this video I made.

Not a big deal. Nintendo consoles are mostly great for 1st party games, anyways.
they should just release the game as a demo first on the wii u to see what kind of reaction they will get then from wii u owners and give them feedback then decide to do a full release or not based on those feedbacks. they have nothing to lose as i said earlier
Re-run
I didn’t like the first dead island. But I am upset Wii U did not get Far Cry 3, DMC, Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Tomb Raider, and it looks like no Bioshock Infinite and maybe no GTA V, and no word on Lost Planet 3 or Dragons Dogma sequel expasion thingy. All games I wanted to play on Wii U.
This crap, again? Why do you constantly post up news about games that are NOT coming to the Wii U rather than about games that actually are? Yes, we know that Deep Silver’s too fucking lazy to put a god damn map or inventory on the gamepad so that it can actually be put on the Wii U. We’ve heard it enough times… we know that game developers are becoming lazy morons. How about telling us something that we WANT to hear?
What’s this crap about Nintendo forcing touch controls? That’s not what the Wii U is about! Touch is just a natural consequence of adding a second screen!
Not only that, but there are several games out for the Wii U already that do not actually require you to touch the screen. It could simply be used just to display useful things like the map or HUD without any touch compatibility incorporated, whatsoever.
Yes, its a very small one time fee. Just follow link under video in description area. Thanks for your? interest in my music!
