Reggie Explains E3 Move, Says It Will Be ‘Different And Better’

e3_nintendoNintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has told fans via video why the company has decided not to host an E3 press conference and instead hold a Nintendo Direct presentation. Reggie says that they have decided to use social media as a way to share information and that he believes this will both surprise and delight Nintendo fans.

“We’re always looking for new ways to surprise and delight. We’ll still be at E3 revealing new information about upcoming games and those of you at home will still be receiving the same stream of content and updates from the show as you always have, but it will be different and it will be better.”

    1. Yeah LOL! I knew it Nintendo aint stupid man! I knew they were just taking back their respect. “Ok so yall want to act sheitsy huh? Ok check this out, we dont need to stand on youre stage, WE’ll Make Our Own Biiaaatch!” or somethin like that lol.

  1. While I respect this decision and I expect a glorious Nintendo Direct…if they do this every year it will mean the last we’ve seen of Nintendo’s E3 press conferences is…Nintendoland with unimpressive fireworks.

      1. That´s true. E3 is so media-centered that it has been losing relevance to consumers for some time.

  2. This Tuesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation will be better than last year’s press conference. No need to worry about not adding Retro Studios at the very last minute because they’ll be there with a brand new Wii U game.

      1. I totally agree. The sunday vid of Non Specific Action Figure and the wednesday presentation of 3ds games were much better then the main conference

    1. He’d better drop the 150-megaton hydrogen bomb. This is it. I’m sure that the Wii U will do decent over it’s lifespan, but I think if Nintendo blows E3 again that will kill any chances of it winning this gen.

Like I said, the Wii U will still probably sell decent. Maybe 40-50 mil over it’s console history, but unless this E3 is a monster for Nintendo I don’t see fortune changing all that much for the Wii U.

When you think about it, even after we have seen all these game, they still won’t be available to buy ‘right now.’ At least most of them won’t be. Their ND will have to be so amazing that people will buy the Wii U on principle in anticipation for these games.

      1. Exactly! Some Nintendo fanboys don’t get it, Nintendo is great and all but they are by no means perfect. The only reason I bought a Wii U a couple months ago is because i have been loyal to Nintendo ever since the snes (even though i’ve own every console since except ps3/360. Even thinking of going out and getting a Ps4 if it has good games.) For all we know (Even though I doubt it would happen.) Nintendo could royally screw up the next Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros., and Retro’s new game. I agree, this E3 Is make it or break it. Not just for Nintendo, but Sony and Microsoft as well.

        1. Sony just has to hold-serve. They are in a good situation right now. Nintendo and Microsoft care catching all the bad press while Sony is kinda hanging back in the cut. If Sony start talking about that DRM crap and what not they will blow it.

From what I hear Sony is planning on doing the same things Microsoft is, they are just being quiet about it.

Microsoft in their conference came out with a big vat of arsenic poisoning and said, :” Here, drink this.” Sony came out in their conference with a nice, big fat juicy t-bone steak fresh off the grill ‘laced’ with arsenic poisoning and said, “Here, eat this.”

The fact that Sony has been more slick about their DRM plans may give them the edge over Microsoft because by the time people realize they have been poisoned it may be too late.

          1. That’s what i’m worried about, they’re trying to take away rights from gamers. It’s not right, they’re taking advantage of uninformed masses and buy the time they buy them, it’s already too late and the companies already get their money.

            1. And Nintendo knows this and that is why they refuse to get involved in it and conversely why 3rd parties studios (western) are dropping the Wii U like a bad habit. It’s up to us to expose this and let consumers know they are being had.

              1. And i thought i was the ony one who thought the reason why 3rd parties are skipping the Wii U is because Nintendo refused to give in to that drm bs. Finally someone else who understands this! There is hope for gamers after all!

                1. It’s become too transparent to conceal now. These developers have become arrogant and are getting sloppy covering their tracks. I don’t think reality will set in to the consumer until after the PS4 and XBOX One have been on the market for a few months, but we already know what is coming.

Sony and Microsoft could very well self-destruct. People make fun of the Ouya, but it might wind up being number two behind Nintendo after this is all said and done in the 8th gen. $99 bucks is hard to argue with.

                  1. Honestly the way things look, i truly think we are heading for anothe videogame crash. Also i haven’t heard much about the ouya i’ll have to look into it.

                    1. I’m actually an independent contractor working for Digital Iris which is a company that will be debuting it’s new 3rd person shooter for the Ouya at E3. From what I’ve been told the Ouya is a pretty nifty little piece of hardware. Power-wise comparing it to the other next-gen systems I think it would be like comparing a slightly-more powerful Wii to the PS3, but as long as the Ouya has a working niche ($99 dollar price-point, open source for developers, cheap and easy to develop for, very indi-friendly) I think it will fin a nice little niche for itself even if their is a gaming crash.

I honestly think Microsoft is trying to sabotage the gaming industry. The people making decision on the XBOX One are the same people the fought tooth and nail to PREVENT the original XBOX from coming to fruition. All they care about is using the XBOX brand to peddle Windows and other non-gaming elements of Microsoft.

              2. amen to that person. this is a conspiricy to destroy consoles as we know them… the gaming apocalypse has started.

    2. Im tempted to link a video of mine. A Hype video I made on youtube for Nintendos E3…Where I say 1 bomb? I think its a few more then just 1…Ah fuck it I will post it lol.

  3. I actually prefer getting a huge Nintendo Direct with playable demos at stores across NA over the traditional conference. The Nintendo Direct is set up way better, plus the vast majority of people are watching from home anyways. Plus anybody AT E3 will still be playing all of their stuff on the floor, and Miyamoto, Reggie, and Sakurai will be making appearances as well. I would much rather watch a Direct rather than a live stream of the conference. Bring it on alreaddyyy! MY BODY IS REGGIE! :D

    1. ….to be filed in 2077 when Nintendo has exhausted all of their 10 billion dollar reserve money as well as sold all their franchises.

      1. you’re right about selling their franchises part, Activision or EA would make way better use out of the Mario, Zelda, Star Fox etc. franchises then nintendo’s milking ways

            1. AHAHAHAHA, no.
Proper online gaming is already being done on MH3U, so as long as Nintendo uses that kind of stable network, we’re fine.
Last damned thing that Nintendo games need are the kind of scum that inhabit the dark recesses of Live and PSN.X_X

              1. LOL Monster hunter proper online. Thats why they shut down all servers forcing customers to buy the game again for an inferior console

                1. Nintendo Commander

No one forces anyone to buy anything, atleast we do not steal money from gamers like your precious Xbots…

            2. Can’t argue with you on that. At least Im not like some other Nintendo fanboys and are blind to flaws. but really, every console has it’s pros and cons.

        1. $79.99 per game and pay an additional $5.00 for playing a used game? LemonHIV… get lost. You ain’t nothin’ but a hater. Drink some HaterAIDS and have that seat.

            1. Nintendo Commander

And all those 18362 games are still better than your Electron garbage and Xbot delusional crap…

        2. With EA, Mario will turn into a first-person shooter who shoots Goombas in the face, Each of Zelda’s temples will be $10 DLC, and Star Fox will just be dropped and featured as characters in an EA Sports game. That’s how their minds work and if you really think that, you’re dumb.

        3. No Activision would just turn into some bland shooter or shovel ware crap. I could picture Nintendo’s franchises going down with them if they ever dissolved….but unlikely. Sony’s dying before Nintendo ever will.

      2. Nintendo Commander

Maybe even further into the future…

However, Nintendo will still exist in a way or the other…

        I’ll make sure of that…

  4. Nintendo Commander

I totally agree with you Supreme Commander Reggie!

After the Nintendo Direct on tuesday, the Xbox will be several steps into extinction!

  5. Do it! Xbox One’s heaviest points of critics are confirmed and my last hope is the Wii U. I think PS4 will go the same or a similar way the Xbox One does to fit the Publishers ways of pissing us off. I love the “naive” way and philosophy Nintendo has with things like online, DLCs and so on. Because Nintendo is afterwards Microsoft and Sony in ways of technical features, they also do not have the negative points that everyone pisses off at the moment.

    1. Well, they’re getting into that. They have DLC for Mario games now, like New Super Luigi. U and Coin Rush packs.

    2. I was having doubs of getting a wiiu because of the third party things but right now is not a question of if third party will support the wiiu but when. Microsoft is doomed even if the sell the xbox 1 at 10$ and if sony do the same then Nintendo will rule supreme.

  6. if they give us at least one playable demo (mario kart for exmpl) on our wii u i think many people will move on the new nintendo console asap! for sure!

  7. There’s still something enjoyable about having Reggie or Iwata come on stage, and they’ll start talking, saying stuff like “we want to make a game that did…”, or “we talked to *random developer* about what they could bring”, and it builds up and they show the game, and the crowd goes crazy as they always do, i like that. I hope that they show trailers for unannounced games without introducing them first, they just say “here’s a trailer”.

  8. It amazes me how many lifeless trolls are on this site, seriously, grow a pair and let us enjoy whatever we want to. XD

    1. Oh look, another hater video.
      How cute.
Going to quote BlackB0nd next, perchance? We could always use a second laugh.

  9. “We’re always looking for new ways to surprise and delight.”

Yeah that why they will show the billionth iteration of Mario and Zelda and whatnot. I’m bored of the Mario and Zelda games. I’m supposed to be excited for Wind Waker HD? That game was so easy when I first beat it 10 years ago I didn’t die once, how pathetic is that. Make some new IP’s for a change.

    1. Oh, like you’ve got room to talk after how your kind gets excited over Bioshock: Infinite-ly Bland and other games like it.
Hypocrites like you should sew their lips shut.

      1. Have you even play Bioshock infinite? Oh ofcourse you haven’t you we’re stuck on your shitty Wii/WiiU. If you actually have played it you would know that the game is far from bland. Stupid WiiTards.

        1. Actually, I HAVE played it.
In the end, you let a dozen copies of your daughter kill you because you’re too much of a pussy to find another way out.
It takes everything that the first and second Bioshock did right, and shits on it.
It’s fucking bland. A de-evolution of the series that should have been neutered before it could be bred.
Go fuck yourself, Ness. You don’t know what quality is.

          1. Chill people, okay, just because you game on x system doesn’t mean you can’t play y type of games. If you think that you are not a gamer, you are just a pathetic excuse of a man who has to prove he is a mand by playing a certain genre of games. C’mon people can’t we all get along? It’s quite sad really! XD

      2. yeah i heard that the only people mind blown by this game is the under 25 crowd, any adult playing the game however has been there done that before, but i dont know, i was playing skyward sword on heros mode.

      3. Hey now, I’m a Nintendo fan above all else, but Bioshock Infinite was great. Hands off the Bioshock.

    2. What about Dillion’s Rolling Westward, Pushmo/Crashmo, and Harmo Knight, as well as retail games such as X and The Wonderful 101? Your argument is invalid.
While I’m at it, you have no right to criticize Wind Waker HD befause:
      A) MS and SONY have a lot more ports/remakes than Nintendo
      B) Nintendo doesn’t even have to make this. They just are so that the wait for Zelda U won’t be as bad as the wait for games like Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.

    3. u didnt die once, u shoulf be a professinsl player, can u send me a video of ur play through on a live stream please, i would give u so much money.

        1. Nintendo Commander

They are immune to any sort of weaponry whether they are bombs, cyber attacks, dimesional attacks, multiversian attacks and so on…
