Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem To Feature Modern Setting On Wii U

Shin-Megami-Tensei-X-Fire-EmblemThe Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem crossover title for the Wii U has been off the news radar for the past six months. In fact, back in January a trailer was released as part of a Nintendo Direct and then, nothing, not even a rumour had surfaced about the RPG crossover from Nintendo and Atlus. But now, a small detail has been revealed by Nintendo games producer Hitoshi Yamagami – most notably involved in Xenoblade and Fire Emblem: Awakening. In an interview conducted by Hobby Consolas Magazine, Yamagami let it slip that the game will feature a modern setting within the real world. Here’s what he said about the upcoming crossover title:

“For a long time, I’ve wanted to create a Fire Emblem in our times, in the real world. Imagine a Pegasus that comes from the sky and lands on Building 109 of Shibuya, Tokyo. I always thought that would be incredible. At the same time, I know it’s hard because of how Fire Emblem is. I visited many companies to express these ideas. When I went to Atlus, I was told that Shin Megami Tensei together with Fire Emblem is what I wanted. So, I soon said that to Intelligent Systems and started this very special collaboration. Oops! I shouldn’t say that the game takes place in the real world. We haven’t announced it, right?”

  1. X and this are the titles that im most excited. Atlus probably said “welcome to our barbeque” when this guy visited there.HEE-HEE-HEE.

    1. Yeah suck it why u mad? i was first you are nothing anymore. HEE-HEE-HEE. I will create a monument to non existence.

    1. The mother series would like to have a word with you. So would the Persona series actually….and the whole Shin Megami Tensei franchise come to think of it.

    2. Actually, Shin megami is an RPG and Fire Emblem is a Strategy RPG. There is a slight difference between JRPGs and RPGs and NO it has nothing to do with whether they were made in Japan or the West… 💋

  2. I heard some people complaining about it going ”noooooo I can never imagine a Fire Emblem in a modern setting, the games are made for the medieval era”
But that’s exactly what makes me intrigued about them. That doesn’t mean they’ll fight with guns or anything. I’m curious how all of this is gonna turn out.

    1. I really don’t like people who hate “change.” How else is a franchise or a video game company going to evolve!? Change is good. Even one where you take Medievel characters and plop them into modern day. Also, it doesn’t matter if “they” can’t imagine Fire Emblem in modern times, because the game will be made with that already implemented. They just have to play the game. They don’t have to “imagine” a thing :P 💋

      1. totally agree games need to change to be good. although some things do need to stay the same. Like fire emblems character development should never change because it’s so good or how the game play, tweak this and that but keep the feel the same. Really interested to see dragons, mages, and other fire emblem goodness in the modern day. Maybe if they make a sequeal it can be set in space, and the main objective is to fight off an alien invasion!

    2. You know, I’m kind of interested in seeing how Fire Emblem would work in modern settings. Just as long as guns are out of the questions

  3. I am looking forward to this game. Never played Shin Megami, but I heard it will be in 3D and I REALLY want to play with Fire Emblem characters in 3D for a change. 💋

  4. I got two theories how the worlds collide, so first is that inn the smt games there’s a multiverse called the amala network. In each smt game you use a terminal to save and this also acts as teleportation device so maybe the smt protags are sucked into the outrealm by the terminals. Second theory is that all fe characters are actually Einherjars and the cards somehow fall into the SMT universe.

    1. or maybe it will be like the time rift thing in awakening, except it puts them in another universe rather than the past

  5. I’ve been wondering about this game, they just up and stooped talking about it and I was wondering if something went wrong. Good to know it’s appears to being going well

  7. So it’s gonna be a RPG after all. I was wondering if it was going to be that or a fighting game (which I wouldn’t mind either). Release more details soon Nintendo/Atlus. I want this game badly.
