New Sonic Lost World Stage Confirmed For Super Smash Bros

smash_bros_windy_hill_stageNot long after we heard confirmation that Sonic was set to enter the fight once again, Super Smash Bros. director Masohiro Sakurai has posted a new screenshot on the official website showcasing a brand new Sonic stage for the Wii U. For those who are already familiar with the newly released Nintendo exclusive Sonic Lost World, you’ll spot Windy Hill’s idyllic background – the first area from the title. A snippet in the Sonic reveal trailer briefly showed the new stage, but now we can cast our eyes over an official screenshot. The Windy Hill stage joins previously revealed stages such as Pilot Wings and Metroid: Other M. Sakurai’s keeping quiet on the details, however, but you can check out his message on Miiverse below.

“Sonic: Lost World is out in Japan today! The Windy Hill area can also be seen in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U…but I can’t tell you all the details yet!”

  1. this stage was shown in the trailer that revealed that sonic was in the game. you’re a tad late wouldn’t you say…

  2. that blue failhog shouldnt even be in the game, why?? hes a fail and his games suck, he single handedly made brawl slow as fuck. well apparently thats nintendo’s goal now days, to fail.

      1. oh what that latest great wii u exclusive that would help the wii u….. thats right sonics failed world. he should just live in the failed world. he can live there with epic micky, superman 64 and et.

        1. @ iceazeama,
You talk about Nintendo like they’re your ex lover that you caught cheating on you. Nobody cares about your jilted love affair, man.

  3. Well while we already kind of “knew” about the stage, I think the new thing to point out is Sonic’s punch has a new added affect! It gets the electric shield power-up that Sonic gets in his games!!… or at least, that’s what it looks like to me. 💋

    1. I never even knew that Sonic WAS revealed to be in the new Smash Bros. games until reading this post. I must have missed a news post or something. I’ve been wondering about his inclusion.

I love seeing Sonic in Smash Bros. games (even though I hated choosing him in Brawl, because I didn’t care for his moves). There’s just SO much history between Sonic and Mario. I mean, back when SEGA and Nintendo were rival companies. I love how far things have come.

      1. You didn’t know!? It was on every videogame news site (including this one) plus he was revealed in one of the Nintendo directs that showcased the “Good” Mario World trailer as well as the reveal of the new Kirby 3DS game.

I wasn’t a fan of Sonic’s moveset in Smash Bros Brawl either, but he is such an iconic character who fits right in with the rest of the characters. It wouldn’t feel like Smash Bros without Sonic. 💋

I would love to see a SSB stage use physics like in SLW or the Galaxy games. Imagine two planetoids that you can use the gravity to switch between the two. Being punched and the gravity of one planet pulls you down to it. Would be really cool IMHO.

  5. I’m disappointed in the visuals for the Wii U version. The 3ds version looks great and seems like the hardware is being pushed but the Wii U version looks like brawl for Wii just more colorful, seems like they aren’t pushing the Wii U’s hardware at all.
