Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai has shared his impressions of the PlayStation 4 with Famitsu. Sakurai initially stated that he hates console wars and went on to say that he’s very impressed with the hardware that Sony have delivered with the PlayStation 4. Here’s Sakurai’s impressions of the system.
“Let me begin by saying that I don’t care for faction wars like Nintendo versus SCEJA.”
“PlayStation 4 is good-looking, the DualShock 4 is light and using it feels good, Remote Play can reliably handle even action games, and the network functionality is well done. The machine power is another attractive factor, there is no loss of detail in the image, and it looks so natural and spontaneous that you often forget that you’re playing a game.”
“It’s a good thing if creators can make stylish games without putting in a ton of time on that. I hope that a masterpiece will come with bells tolling. This is definitely not a period that will leave us without the possibility of playing rich games.”

It’s probably because they showed KH3 and the Ps4 is the cheaper option compared to the Xbone. That game is still not coming for a good while though so people are probably desperately trying to find reasons to play it
The same thing happened with the PS2. It had no gaames at launch but it sold so much the dreamcast was cast aside. The dreamcast on the other habd had the best console launch in history in terms of available quality games
Of course, as a nintendo fan you should know that already (Nintendo Wii)
I am amazed that every console generation people act like this has never happened before.
Did the Xbox 360 release with a ton of games? Nope. Did the PS3 release with ton of games? Nope. Did the Wii U release with a ton of games? Nope. Did handhelds release with a ton of games? Nope.. You see the trend here? I could go on..
So is it really that surprising seeing both the Xbox One and PS4 in the same situation?
People buy these systems for the future of games that it will bring, it has been a long time since a console or handheld has launched with a ton of software behind it. Do you people also think about how costs of development keeps increasing and the work load keeps getting larger? So shouldn’t that play a big role in why we simply don’t see a huge amount of games during the release of most these systems now.
On top of all the good studios that have had to shut down or sell off just because of those factors.
Anyone with sense knows The PS4, Wii U and Xbox One will have a lot to offer in another year or two. Then again most people don’t even have that… Something called common sense.

Yeah. I mean, I could actually see myself liking a Playstation 4 someday in the future. I’ll be sure to keep Sakurai’s comments in mind when the Playstation 4 actually comes out with a game I actually want to play.

Backwards compatibility is a big thing for me. I bought my Ps4 without knowing it wasn’t going to have it. Sold it because it’s pointless to have something without a game that interested me
I think they decided to go ahead with PS Now in order to eliminate the need for backwards compatibility. But I see your point, I love backwards compatibility. Also, being able to play wii games on the gameplay is pretty friggin awesome
Why would u buy a console at launch expecting loads of great games to play? and then sell it when no games interested u? i dont believe u! i say your a liar!! any adult who has bought consoles at launch knows with ALL HARDWARE the 1st year is pretty dry for games and it takes time for the system to become stable and get good games!
And backwards compatibility is not needed by me or most i would bet.
I bought a launch PS3 and it had backwards compatibility but to this day i have never played any of my disk PS2 OR PS1 games on it!
So all it ends up doing is adding to to cost of the new console!
Wii u is different because essentially it uses the same cpu from the wii and game cube and so back wards compatibility is easy to achieve.
With the PS3 using the cell processor it would of cost so much more to add PS3 native hardware into the PS4 to give us bc.
So i say good riddance, only people who trade their PS3 in towards the cost of the PS4 are the ones who need bc.
I for one still own 2 PS3 consoles, a launch fatty and slim, and would never get rid of either as its such a great machine.
PS4 is a great console, hence why i and over 6 million people have bought one at launch, and why it has shattered the total wii u console sales within 4 months! LMAO and it does have good games to play on it, BF4,Knack, resogun, outlast, with infamous coming this month and more.
All wii u had were ports of old games which most core gamers had already played and at better frame rates and performance on PS360!
And yet i still bought a wii u at launch to support Nintendo!
I always buy every console at launch, this is the first gen i didn’t, with the xbox 1.
I refuse to support a greedy company like Microsoft, drm and monetising the industry and making it worse of for core gamers!
I just play most of its games on pc.
Nintendrones forget the first year of the wii u was a baron wasteland for games, LOL PS4 in 4 months has a decent amount of games and i would bet within the 1 year mark will have more games then the wii u had at the same point.
I love my wii-u, and PS4, i own and game on all platforms, but again and again people who only game on one platform and lie about gaming on all of them spread their biased hate! and its obvious to see!
PS4 is selling well because Sony listens to its fan base, however you cut it, this is fact! Nintendo hasn’t cared about the core gaming nintendo fans for a long time, hence the casual gamer focus, the weak hard ware compared to the competition, and the bare minimum systems, no Ethernet port, no substantial hard drive, no blue ray or dvd playback, no Dolby codec, hardly any heavy hitter games within the first year, no game pad proof of concept? the list goes on and on!
Fan-boys can cry all they want, but one reason why i love and will always support Sony is they have always put the core gamers first!

4 months after the console launch is well within launch window time frame, so again wii u total system sales have been obliterated by PS4 total system sales in 4 months! it took wii u over a year to get to where its at now! PS4 did it in 4 months! and i blame nintendo 100%!
Wii u is a great system even with its flaws and the fact that it just launched not lng ago and still cant even compare to a 7 yr old PS3 with regards to tech and features! LAZY DAMN LAZY, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!!!!!!!
