Here’s The New Trailer For Super Smash Bros. Wii U And 3DS

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. The video stars new challenger Greninja, the final evolution of Froakie from Pokemon X and Y. Although it was playable via the Pokemon Trainer in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Charizard will also be a selectable character with its own set of unique moves. Super Smash Bros for 3DS launches this summer, whereas the Wii U version will arrive in the winter.

    1. Smash cannot save the Wii U.

3DS version releases 6 months earlier so anyone interested will have played the game already.
Hype will be over and new games will be out for the holidays.
Due to the earlier release date and bigger install base of the 3DS, the Wii U will only have a handful of people online.
Both games are running at 60 FPS so there is no need to get the Wii U version.
HD resolution is irrelevant due to the screen size of the 3DS.
Stereoscopic 3D is exclusive to the 3DS.
Unique game mode is exclusive to the 3DS.
3DS is cheaper than the Wii U.
New 3DS games are cheaper than new Wii U games.
3DS can be played anywhere without a need for a TV or a power outlet.
Majority of 3DS owners will now buy the 3DS version only.
Nintendo wasted time and money on developing the Wii U version and no one will buy it.

      R.I.P. Nintendo.

Smash should have been exclusive to PS4 where people actually buy games.

      1. You just spent 90% of your comment complementing the 3DS and somehow “R.I.P Nintendo”

      2. It’s funny how all these fanboys were saying that Smash would save the Wii U. Nothing can save the Wii U.

When the Wii U version comes out, everyone will just call it an up-res’ed 3DS game.

Nintendo should learn a thing or two from Microsoft. Releasing Titanfall on XBONE before the 360 was the right move.

      3. ”Remember, all the footage and information in this video is preliminary so it may change any time”

      4. I’m buying both! The wii u version has better control due to the controller. Besides, Nintendo may release an updated wii u this winter which could look sexier and have better wifi capabilities.

      1. its more of a prediction but it makes sense? The two most hyped returning characters would be revealed on the biggest Nintendo stage

      1. Mewtwo fine, in fact im fine with mewtwo being gone. Captain Falcon though is coming back so idk why I am wishing when its true

  1. Greninja seems like a random choice, but Lucario seemed random last time– this should be very exciting to see pan out

      1. Why do you care? Why is everyone on this website a 10 year old troll who can’t even make legitimate points about things? I don’t understand.

  2. how come pokemon dont appear in other nintendo games other than smash? the only game i know of is the pokemon pikachu item in the first animal crossing. im sure there might be more but smash reps pokemon like crazy

  3. Sometimes I wish that the new/secret/hidden/unlockable characters would remain “secret” for people to discover as they play. It just seems like nothing remains a mystery in gaming these days. I remember being surprised several times when playing Smash Bros. Melee, because back then I didn’t have internet access (or a computer), and the game felt SO much more exciting because of not knowing who would be unlocked. I never have that excitement anymore.

    1. Blame the haters and inpatient fans…

If they don’t get some food they’ll bash nonstop and abandon Nintendo…

      It’s pathetic…

      1. Can you post it again, I forgot…

        Stupid archives won’t open…

      2. You need to get your own…

Or just let him give it to you…

      3. Then let him give you his…

Or something and you will do something “nice” to him…

    2. A lot of people wish there weren’t any unlockable characters and you could just be everyone from the start. These people only like to play multiplayer brawls online or with friends. They find unlocking characters as tedious and unnecessary.

Also, I think Luigi is the only character that they actually said was unlockable and Sakurai mentioned him, because of the Year of Luigi. We still have not heard of the unlockable characters.

  4. Nintendo, could you STOP focusing on the 3DS and start focusing on the Wii U… Mario Kart 8 seems to be your last chance now.

    1. Just stop, the WiiU is fine, plus there are other games that Mario Kart 8 is going to help with extra WiiU’s sold. It is a win win strategy my friend. Between Mario kart 8 and smash brothers nintendo has exclusives and possibly Destiny releasing same time as the PC version.

      1. Humans are really retarded, they can’t even for one tiny second realise that there will be more Smash Brothers information later on for both the 3DS and Wii U, specially the Wii U version…

      2. … You do know when they announce a rough release date means the game is in final production… If you knew anything about the gaming industry like me, it means at E3, don’t expect anything new apart from the official release date.

      3. Just because it is in the final stage of production doesn’t mean that they have features left to show or for us to discover…

It could have been done at the same time as all these news we just got so yes they are retarded…

Only a complete fool would announce 100% content of a game now or ever…

    2. If 3DS wasn’t coming out in the Summer it would either come out alongside SSB4 Wii U in the Winter or in 2015. The reason being is that they are definitely going to have Smash Bros out for Christmas no matter what.

Moving the 3DS date up to Summer is a gift to the fans. If they didn’t do that then we wouldn’t get Smash Bros until Christmas or even later.

SSB4 Wii U in the Summer has always been out of the question. It takes longer to produce a Wii U game than a 3DS game.

  5. 3DS 60fps, even in 3D as our good friend jtz would always say, how can an underpowered 3DS manage 60fps when the xbone can’t even lock 30fps in most games with stratus and cumulonimbus clouds helping it?

  6. I’m kinda sad to see the pokémon trainer go, but i expected as much. Especially after they announced zero suit samus and shiek to be standalone characters. But it makes sense, because the 3ds and wii u share rosters. And I remember reading that there were some problems on how the 3ds handled double characters like the ice climbers and that character switching may have slowed down the game. (Need to verify it again though)

    1. I verified the statement I made earlier, and I found these two sources:
“Sakurai did tell me that “multiple character” combatants like the Ice Climbers were proving a technical challenge on the 3DS.”
      – interview by IGN: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/07/03/creating-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u-and-3ds?page=2
“The reality of the situation unfortunately is that there are certain limitations on the 3DS. So we’re forced into the situation where we may need to reduce some characters to a certain degree, but we’re really working hard in order to include as many characters as possible.”
      – Sakurai, E3 2013: http://tay.kotaku.com/challenger-approaching-special-how-limiting-is-the-3-1161037380/1185403655
Found nothing about the lag inducing switching though…

    2. Charzard is better as a standalone character. Squirtle and Ivysaur won’t be missed much to be honest. Also, I would rather have Greninja than those two anyway. He is a fine replacement.

So far the Pokemon in SSB4 look incredibly formidable from Charzard to Greninja to Lucario. Perhaps they will still add Mewtwo? :O

  7. I sure hope Nintendo has some big surprises for this year’s E3, and not just more talk about these games that I’m already getting tired of hearing about. I’ll never forget my disappointment when watching the E3 where Nintendo first revealed NintendoLand. That’s all they talked about. I was expecting HUGE news, and all I got was NintendoLand? One of the worst E3’s I ever watched.

      1. I own NintendoLand. But only played for a few minutes. I never had any interest in going back to it. Nearly everything seemed to be 2-player games. I don’t have a second player to play with.

      2. Half of the game is single-player only, a quarter is multi-player only, and the remaining can be played either alone or with friends.

  8. Greninja’s announcement sort of threw me off guard.
But hey, if it looks like a fighter then I see no reason why it wouldn’t be in.
Sorta strange though how Chesnaught is dual Grass/”Fighting”, but hasn’t even been confirmed to be in the game.
Even Delphox looks like it would be fine added in as either a playable character or Assist Trophy.
IMO, it feels a bit strange to have only one starter in in a Smash game alone period, but that may just be me.

  9. I love the announcements.

Even though I will most likely not use the “For the Glory” online mode, it is nice of Sakurai to acknowledge the existence of two types of Smash Bros players and giving both camps a online mode on which they can have fun.
