Online gaming publication IGN has listed eight reason why they’re eagerly awaiting the release of Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U. One of the main reasons they are excited for the game, amongst others, is the sumptuous visuals. To be fair it looks as though they’re excited for everything about the latest entry in the Mario Kart franchise.

Which only furthers the case for the sad plight that a massive amount of the gaming community finds itself in. They are more concerned about fighting over their loyalties to bigwigs than recognizing real world – important – issues that actually have significance on a much larger scale than enjoying electronic entertainment.
Unless it uses the gamepad microphone I don’t care because I rather use my tablet and Google hangouts to talk to my friends. I guess that will also have less lag than the console also having to steam studio because knowing Nintendo there will still be some lag. And my internet isn’t that good either so that’s not going for me either.

Let’s not get it twisted people.. I own both PS4 and a Wii U and the PS4’s graphics are by know means shitty and very impressive with tons of potential. With that being said Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U visually looks amazing and could be classified/compared as a mid-class Ps4 title(graphically) when taking its art direction into consideration and that is great for the Wii U. And that is not factoring most importantly the gameplay and the magic that comes with Mario Kart. I wish Nintendo would apply such effort to other first party titles as Super Mario 3d world (graphically may of been nice but could of been way better for a flagship title) and of course I’m looking at you SSB which I’m still disappointed with.
Th graphics are amazing… I would put that as my number 1 too. I have not seen a current gen game with such spectacular visuals. It’s why I’m glad I own a Wii U and not a PS4. I can practically see the individual pixels in the PS4 graphics their so shitty.

Well, considering that this is the first High Definition Mario Kart 8, yes. The graphics are definitely a big reason as to why the game is even better. To be honest, I look seeing good graphics no matter what game it is. Like Beyond Two Souls (A PS3 game) looked freaking REAL when I played it. Lol awesome.

What are you talking about? The PS4 has plenty of great games that also have AMAZING graphics. Just look at the Witcher 3 and Watch Dogs for example. Both look amazing and are likely to hold up just as good in the gameplay department too. The Wii U may be good enough for most of you folks, but there is no way that I can survive this gen without also a PS4 or Xbox One.

The only gameplay we have seen thus far has been on high-end PC’s and PS4. There has been no Wii U footage. And why does it matter? The Wii U version is going to look “slightly better” than PS3 and 360. Which, in the real world means, barely any different. When I first saw Watch Dogs, the graphics are what blew me away. And the X1 and PS4 versions, aside from PC of course, look the most ‘next gen’. And in this case, “gameplay›graphics” isn’t a valid argument because it’s coming on all current and last consoles. (Except Wii lol) So why not just get the visually better versions? Because they all have the same gameplay. ‘Nuff said.

The PS4’s Dualshock is very innovative, it’s just no one is using its features yet. All PS4 games support PS Vita remote play, it’s pretty cool and i like it but it’s just not as good as the GamePad, the PS4 is a great and would be a good side console for any Wii U owner.
To be honest, I am actually considering selling my Wii U for a PS4. I admit, I’ve been extremely disappointed with it thus far. Got the thing basically for third party and now that’s just gone. I don’t know how much longer I can put up with this. I also bought a 3DS XL with Pokemon X and Zelda ALBW, and now I feel as if I should’ve just kept that money and got a PS4 instead. Might give em one last try with Mario Kart 8 and Kirby Triple Deluxe, but after that, I’m gonna have to trade. Nintendo is just not for me… :/

Just speaking for myself, I’m perfectly fine with my Wii U. May not be the most powerful console, but I don’t play video games for console power; I play for fun, and in my mind, Nintendo will always have that fun factor that I just don’t get with other consoles. Wii U may not have many games so far, but I am eagerly looking forward to X, SMTxFE, and Super Smash Bros.
I honestly couldn’t care less about that online stuff with party chat and all that. I mostly play games alone anyway. I pretty much only care about games, nothing more.
I’m not talking about the wii u struggles, I well aware of systems issues. Nintendo does need improve in areas of system. I never cared for achievements,they never really did anything for me or the content in games. Most videogame achievements, are just little stuff like walk 3 miles within the game blah, blah, get this combo, blah blah. I know the wiiu’s graphics aren’t the best, and I knew they wouldn’t be the best any way, because after the gamegube days they just started not to care as much for graphics. Some games are ment to look better then others Mario isn’t ment to look like FInal fantasy, but something like zelda can, and some times zelda can look goofy but can still tell a good story. I’m not into party chat that much I could care less, but nintendo does need to work on messaging system better. The blue light isn’t that great of way to tell me which friend is online. I can understand the need for online chat, I’ll support people who want it, but if they act like a bunch of a holes all day about then i won’t. I find the 360 to be a good console (just not at the beginning). The xbone has one of my favorite fighting games on it KI mircosoft treated the game better then most rare ips, but they fuckin rush double helix into making it, making the game incomplete and Ftp in a fighting game case is terrible idea. None of big three are perfect, i know that. Microsoft forced the DRM(orginally until fans were pissed and if people didn’t stand up the xbox one would be dead now) on people and forced the kinect on people as well. Sony follows realistic (game design wise) too much they try to rely power to much at times, they don’t fully support some of their ips(sly 4 wasn’t given any spotlight treatment from them and game was sent to die and I hope we get sly 5). Nintendo doesn’t fully under online(mario 3d world should have had online, pikmin 3’s multiplayer as well). and game pad is a kinda forcefully like the kinect at this point(until they show me something). but in the end all three loo to have good games on the way, and thats only what matters tome I want to play them all. In end as well there always going to bigger better in some areas u aren’t great in, but that doesn’t mean u don’t have potential.
Not everything u post is not needed as well like that whole graphics thing like knack, ryse, and witcher. Those games have their own style different from mario, megaman, and zelda. They have their own personality, which can be show in some graphic forms.
At the end of the day, It’s just a bunch of people fighting with each other because they can’t afford three consoles. Want to see how bad you guys look? Take a look at the Apple-Android mobile War.

Am I the only one here who thinks it would be a good idea if Nintendo put there games on other platforms? Ok, now before you go all fanboyish rage mode on me, hear me out. Recently, Nintendo hasn’t been doing all that great with the Wii U. It’s selling poorly and third parties are leaving the thing. Nintendo seems to be losing a ton of there hardcore fans and everyone is moving to PlayStation and Xbox systems. I like the Wii U, I really do. But there’s one thing that it lacks mainly that the other two guys have. The graphics… Wait! Wait. Now just listen! I am not saying Nintendo games are BAD. I’m just saying that they could benefit SO MUCH MORE on the PS4 or X1. It’s gotten really bad with the Wii U situation as of lately. So bad that even the monstrous sales of the 3DS are starting to take an impact. Wouldn’t you like to play your favorite Nintendo franchises in Full HD with INCREDIBLE graphics? How would a Metroid game look on Cryengine 4? EXACTLY! You guys, this would be a wonderful idea and you know it would be, too. People don’t hate Nintendo. It’s just that they’ve been so freaking stubborn and arrogant recently that people just jumped ship. The Wii U is still lacking SIMPLE FEATURES like Achievement System, and heck, even a DVD player. It’s also region locked too. Not that it really matters though. My point is, if Nintendo doesn’t get with the times, everyone is going to ignore them. Sega did the right thing to go third party, and so should Nintendo. The best of both worlds (Nintendo and third party) Just imagine it.

And here come 2012, I see Wii U. I thought, Oh maybe Nintendo learned their lesson and now will get a bunch of awesome games because Wii U was HD and stuff. But no. It’s the same thing now. Walk into the store, new game is out for PS3 and 360, not on Wii U. This is infuriating. If I knew this would have happened, I wouldn’t have even bought it. during the gamecube era and beginning of ds era there were many innovative games before for gamecube,gameboy and the early of ds life cycle. at 2007-2011 there just been shovelware like crazy as heck for wii and ds. nintendo image is dying and becoming a joke. 85% of third party devs and publishers dont even want to make games for wii u. before alot of devs were making shovelware on wii before.

Yeah. I’m trying to support Nintendo as much as I can, but at this rate, I’m gonna end up selling my stuff. They used to be on top of the world with their exclusives and it was just amazing. Back in the day, you go up and see stuff like Killer Instinct Gold, Goldeneye, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, and tons of variety of games. Now you walk in Gamestop look on Wii shelves and see ENTIRE ROWS worth of shovelware. I bought my 3DS XL and then quickly realized that I should’ve waited before choosing so quickly. I could have used that $200 to get a PS3 or 360 since I missed out on entire 7th gen cuz I only had a Wii,but too late now. I’m stuck with a Wii U and 3DS XL begging for games and hoping Nintendo gives them. I wish I could just go back in time and prevent myself from spending my money…
Sony will always lose more money then nintendo highly due to other departments whichnis what been bring them down. nintendo can lose 250 a year and still be okay till 2052 because nintendo is just a smaller focus company then sony. I’ll admit nintendo needs to work on a image better, but nintendo makes games for everyone. Metroid, Zelda, Star Fox, F-Zero, sin and punishment, ect. Mario is fun for everyone. In some cases sony has been proven envies of mario the kinda always said it some way. Pokemon is game more in depth then people give it credit for there is more math in pokemon then most math books. You don’t have to like nintendo, to be a gamer, but they do take risk more then most companies. Something has to make money to fuel innovation mario, zelda, and other ips do this. We need mario to get games like wonderful 101, pikmin, starfox and ect. We need a halo to fuel KI. We need naughty dog game to make a sly, and little big planet. Lots of things are involved in innovation, whether u find it innovation or not is up to u, but they still get things made

Thats mostly the media spreading things, iwata hasn’t done a whole lot wrong with his employees, but with wii u, and3ds(at the beginning) he made mistakes. He needs to learn from his mistake, a good president isn’t perfect and some times makes mistake I give iwata one more go, reggie is fine with me he really is for gamers, at one point we almost got rareware games on VC because of him, but iwata didn’t want a transaction between microsoft to happen.
Also investors only understand up and down and money they don’t understand videogames all that much. Nintendo is going a similar road like valve and might one day grew to be independent from invistors
another thing is iwata has only so much power he can’tover rule some of the board members there. If anything they would promote iwata, in japanese terms, its just as bad as being fired, he would have no power and would do nothing which is looked down on in japanese society
When SEGA went 3rd party, they lost the freedom to truly optimize their software w/ hardware & vice versa. Also, they have to put more money into their games to dev them on the hardware of others, which is partly why SEGA has shelved so many of their IPs (NiGHTS, Skies of Arcadia, Jet Set Radio, Somba de Amigo, Crazy Taxi, Virtua Fighter, Shining Force, House of the Dead, Phantasy Star, Shinobi, Toe Jam & Earl, Super Monkey Ball, etc.) If people think Nintendo over-milks their cash cows now, they’ll be in overdrive just to stay afloat as a 3rd party. Their quality, just like w/ SEGA, would decline & then who would be capable of filling that void? Those that were originally & still are 3rd party are having trouble keeping up, except indies, who focus on what matters (gameplay, innovation, & æsthetics). It’s largely shareholders that are pulling the strings & I’m glad Nintendo still has the clout to defy them. But if Sony & MS were to moneyhat Nintendo, even direct them, their games really wouldn’t be the same & the wish for Nintendo multiplats would mostly remain a wish. I think exclusives, beyond 1st/2nd party, are important. & w/ diminishing returns, hardware can’t be all about the graphics (I haven’t been impressed by graphics since REbirth).
Those “basic” features seem like clutter, & fluff to force a game’s relevance than any actual gaming incentives. They feel like gratuitous DLC. & achieving many of those trophies require little to no effort anyway. I’ve been gaming since SNES & the original Game Boy, & those “basic” features are the farthest from my mind. They’re just unneccesary to me. But the change I want from Nintendo is a new F-Zero, Wave Race, Eternal Darkness, mainline Fatal Frame (@ least in the US), Captain Rainbow (also in US), Elite Beat Agents, Earthbound, Star Fox, etc. I also want 3rd parties to return to a lot of the IPs they’ve shelved, especially the ones that catered to the Nintendo fanbase (Red Steel, Prince of Persia, Buck Bumble, The Conduit, RE Chronicles, a real mainline RE (Survival Horror, not 3rd person shooter), Billy Hatcher, Burnout, Ridge Racer, ‘Metroidvania’, fighters w/ Story Modes & unlocks (no online parity BS), etc. 3rd parties in the 8th gen rarely offer anything that interests me. I like that the Wii’s comparative lack in power forced 3rd parties to make games that focused on gameplay.
Nintendo is one of the few gaming companies who are solvent. Wii U is simply misunderstood. But if gamers today no longer want the games & genres of yesteryear, or the magic & quality that Nintendo provides (& SEGA used to), then I’d rather they commit industry seppuku, freeze their IPs indefinitely (to protect their sanctity), & delve into another industry.
Oh, & I’m compelled to add into my 3rd party wishlist a real Tomb Raider, one w/ silent tension, exploration, maybe a T-rex, &, uh, oh yeah, ‘tomb raiding’. Not shooting, shooting, & snuff-film Lara deaths.
But nowadays 3rd parties cater to the hardcore audiovisual crowd, & rely upon M ratings, & unfocused, open-world tedium. For the most part, they supported Wii, but when Wii U & its power arrived, they seemed to forget the Nintendo fanbase & port games that catered to the twin crowd. Thankfully, indies haven’t forgotten genres & gameplay.
I haven’t been envious of a non-Nintendo console libraries since the Dreamcast (though GCN picked up many of its games), & PS2.
@HollowGrapeJ,, I totally agree with you 100%. Nintendo has shown they no longer listen to their fans anymore and are now paying the price for that to an extent. I think they should go 3rd party to other consoles on their console games and remain proprietary on their handhelds since they still have a dedicated strong following and presence in that area.
How about no, they don’t go third party and instead die with dignity than become some third party sell-out.
If you want to play Nintendo games, buy a Nintendo console. Can’t afford two consoles? Get a better job or manage your money better. Can’t do that? That sucks. Or don’t want to? Tough shit! You’ll just have to learn to make sacrifices, won’t you?
I don’t have a problem with what you said since its your opinion but if Nintendo really does put their games on other platforms I will be so dissapointed that I will quit gaming forever…

Nintendo putting their IPs on other consoles would be the dumbest thing ever. They have too much money to give in and would no doubt lose even more money giving their franchises out to other companies. Nintendo doesn’t rely on “incredible graphics” or achievement systems cuz that’s not what makes a game great at all. Hell, if I can turn off those stupid trophies I would, they just get in my way. To me, Nintendo is like the Disney of gaming; memorable characters. Not every gaming company can do what they can, so to give up their famous characters to other platforms would kill everything they stand for which is the point of gaming: having fun. Who cares if their games aren’t as pretty as the others, or if they don’t have a DVD player, I didn’t buy a Wii U to play movies! I’m no ignorant Nintendo fan, I play all kinds of games, including Titanfall and Dark Souls, and my gaming collection always has room for my Nintendo games. Long live Zelda and Mario!!
Yes, I know you play all kinds of games and whatnot, but not everyone has that type of cash. If I could, I’d have gotten both a PS4 and Xbox One to go along with the Wii U. But I chose Nintendo. And prior to choosing Wii U, I played mainly third party games, and this feels like a step back for me. Too many people these days own Sony and Microsoft consoles and the gaming population is overpowering the Nintendo fanbase. Just look at Call of Duty. I don’t even play those games (Or particularly care for them either) but sales are sales. Devs go where the money is, and the other consoles seem to be generating much more cash than Nintendo as of recently. I haven’t seen a Mario game even come as close to CoD sales and this is disappointing. If the Mario games were made available to those CoD players, I can only assume that they’d make MUCH more money. Because as I said before, that’s where the money is. And people don’t seem to understand that Mario on other consoles=WIN. Because you’ve got all the third party you could ever need ALONG with Nintendo’s amazing franchises. You don’t have to sacrifice either! I like Nintendo as a company and I want them to succeed and this is the only option I see really possible. If you can’t beat em, join em.
if nintendo nintendo made a fps game and stoped playing safe all the time may be we could have a battlefield like game but with metroid and starfox characters. fighting and shooting like real war.
metroid that will kinda not happen that series has never been about that stuff. It kinda has a feel of isolation, and survival to it, to much action will kinda ruin it like RE
it does look like a major improvement from the wii’s mk. should be a fun distraction until smash bros arrives.

Look at what the devs brought to the Wii U when it launched; old games everybody has already experienced. Devs putting in 2% of their effort to port over games that were already going on greatest hits, expecting gamers to pay full price for some game they could find at their local GS for half the price. It’s obvious that games like CoD sell better on the other consoles because that’s where all the effort is put into. If Nintendo would put what treasures they have on other platforms, they’d be screwing themselves over due to the fact that the main crowd for such games as CoD and Battlefield are already established on those platforms. Nintendo’s games belong on a Nintendo console where they’re actually appreciated. Perhaps it’s the devs who need to put more effort (and games) into Wii U. Would’ve adored Diablo 3 on Wii U :)
