US Reviews for Kirby’s latest clay inspired adventure have started to pop up on online review aggregator Metacritic. I know a few of you aren’t too keen on the site, but Nintendo seems to love it. Anyway, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse currently has a Metascore of 74 based on ten critics. It’s not a bad score, but it could be better. Here’s a sample of some of the reviews that are currently out there.
By its very nature, it feels more at home on a handheld. Just in this case, it’s a handheld system that’s tethered to your living room console.

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse shines because it’s a simple game that delivers superbly on a simple concept. You’re repeating many of the same actions again and again, but with each new stroke it feels more refined, more graceful.
– Polygon
Nothing about the gameplay feels broken, it just feels soulless this time around.
– Giant Bomb

Soulless? Ouch
it’s polygon, they don’t know what a soul is.
Polygon loved the game. Its Giant Bomb who called it soulless.
You sure? darn, well can we still insult polygon anyway? XD
Not all the time… At least they don’t do paid reviews XD (most of their reviews are actually really good.)
hmmn, well I’ll take your word for it, I stopped reading them after their mariokart article.
Ben Kuchera is a cancer, and their Bayonetta one was shitty too. But if they don’t get too political they’re usually acceptable.
Well with how misleading and biased reviews for games have been especially recently I think I gonna just stop checking them at all.
a review is by concept biased….there is no such thing as an objetive review…
you can have an unbiased review it’s just that most of these companies have alterior motives.
Yeah, sometimes their opinion posts can be kinda stupid, but their reviews are good.
Opinion posts are usually horrible from any review site (at least the one’s I’ve seen) They’re what usually get me to boycott an author on certain sites.
I don’t really boycott authors… I kinda just deal with it XD (I mean if they make one bad opinionated post, that doesn’t mean that all of their posts will be bad…)
I think I’m just gonna stop reading too much into any sites reviews and just judge games for myself. It’s just tough because games are so expensive and I want to make sure I don’t waste my money but, lately my guts been pretty good and I really think I’m gonna enjoy rainbow curse!
I usually don’t let a review entirely influence my decision to purchase a game, but on the subject of Sonic Boom… XD
haha yeah, I was actually going to buy it because i love sonic but when I saw just how many people said it was aweful, and I saw those glitchy walkthroughs on youtube it was enough to scare me away. and I would say that I am less influenced when I’m hearing how a game is good than I am hearing how it’s bad.
Exactly XD. What made me not buy the game was the “I forgot how to even” video from the game lol.
oH my gosh that was so painful! “we threw it up the waterfall?”!?!?! haha it’s so bad it’s not even funny
*fly buzzes around Knuckles* *Knuckles swats said fly*
Ok so why a bad score if people saying good stuff about it am still getting it I don’t let reviews tell me if a game worth my money i’ll find that out on my own time everyone have their own opinions about games
Yep, don’t listen to reviews, blindly buy a game why don’t ya?
I completely agree with some of the reviewers. It should have been on 3DS.
Also, from what I have seen, it doesn’t look like the usual creativity we see with Kirby games. It looks like a cash-in using Canvas Curse’s style of play.
I’ll still look forward to the next Kirby game though.
meh, wasn’t never excited about this boring game. Waiting for X, Zelda Wii U and starfox + Devil’s third.
Apparently the idiot at Gamespot and the dumbass at Giant Bomb, reviewed the game together. And both sucked at it. The lady at Gamespot apparently didn’t even realize you have a rainbow meter to determine how much you can draw, and she was surprised when the lines stopped appearing.
These people get payed to play videogames wrong.
This… actually doesn’t surprise me. I don’t expect anything better from those type of review sites.
Butthurt fanboy.
I completely agree that this should have been a 3DS game, but I’m still willing to try it out, despite the score. I don’t let scoring greatly affect my choices about games anymore because there are a lot of games that I thought were pretty fun and challenging that received negative reviews.
I wasn’t really interested but thrown in the free Kirby Amiibo and I’m all up ons this! Plus I have a $10 Rewards check from toys r us so I’m excited.
I’m glad I’ll get to play this on my television I want to see this in glorious HD.
I don’t know what person had this idea of a game. It should have been either a 3ds game or an eshop game for 15 bucks. What happened to a game like kirby’s adventure or even return to dreamland. What they give us? A line drawing clay game that is repetitive.
But of course Nintendroids will pour their money into this game.
So fanboy if i buy this game lol
“I’m angry because Nintendo didn’t what I wanted them to do! I need to go on a website and cry and call people nintnedroids to fell better!” Grow up, man.
You’re basically proving his point you know…
Uhhhhhhh.. Nope. I didn’t actually. Did I once say that I was going to buy the game? Nope. Did I ever say that I didn’t hate the idea of the game? Nope. You have no idea what my standing on this game is. Try using that pink thing called a brain in your head before you comment.
Your last line of words is so wrong…
Nobody asked nor wants this game…
is a spin off…
I just want to point out that it has high scores, it only has a couple of 70s, the reason its that low I because giant bomb gave it a 40, and that outlier is keeping the game out of the 80s/90s which are the majority of the scores
You guys should watch Gamestop’s review, it’s pathetic. Even Gamexplain commented on their video review: “I respect your opinion. I just find it completely baffling.”

Kirby 64 and squeak squad and dreamland 3 had simmilar critical reception, and yet they were still very fun,so this dosent trouble me in the least.
Except Kirby 64 sucked ass
Im suprised it was scored that high. Just take a dumb stick and move it to he right the whole game.
I don’t see how this “should have been a 3DS game.”
All types of games can appear on any kind of console. Just because it isn’t as grand in scale and just because it uses a stylus doesn’t mean it is “meant” for the 3DS.
The Gamepad was made for a reason, you know. One of those reasons are for games like this.
You mean for creating a highly visual appealing game, that I cant appreciate on my tv since I have to look at the damn gamepad all the time? For me this game perfeclty underlines that Nintendo still dont understand the Wii U…or maybe it shows that they thought having 2 screens works on the DS family so it will work on a home console as well.
Would have bought this already were it available for EU…
too few reviews and too much variance to be significant as of now, give it a couple days
