This week’s Media Create game sales are now in from Japan. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D has been knocked off its chart-topping position by PlayStation Vita title God Eater 2: Rage Burst. Fortunately, the 3DS remake still retains a healthy number of sales during its second week with an additional 71k. Newcomers The Order: 1886 – which was number one in the UK this week – lands in fourth, while Dead or Alive 5: Last Round is just behind in fifth.
Hardware sales follow a different route this week with the PlayStation Vita taking top, while Nintendo 3DS garners an additional 38k in total sales and the Wii U drops once again to 6k. Below you’ll find the top 20 software charts, followed by the best-selling hardware in Japan.

Why is Vita TV dead?
It has never sold well, not even in Japan. It also supports less software (games/apps) than the Vita itself.
It’s a system with a lot of potential but none of it has been realized and I doubt that it ever will be.
I have had one since its launch in North America and probably only used it three times. Disappointing, really.

I tried the one game I thought would perfectly worked (Terraria for PSVita) and it didn’t work… I thought maybe they could just remap the buttons so that it could be playable on the PSVita TV, but it didn’t work that way lol. There are more games I wanna try for it, but I mainly got it because I just wanted to see if I could stream PS4 games to the PS TV. (You can!)

It has always done decently in Japan. Some weeks are just better than others. Next week 3DS will be back on top I’m sure.

While Vita hasn’t put out high numbers like this on a regular basis, it’s still been selling consistently well in Japan for a while now.
3dS as a whole still beats by 1000 units, but yes vita did pick up.

If Nintendo listened to us 3 years ago like putting Luigi’s Mansion on Wii U, and not waiting until the last minute to make Starfox and Metroid it would have breached 10million. ignoring we wanted SMBU Wii to have online and failed giving NSMBU onlinE. And after saying something about no online for NSMBU then no Pikmin 3. And after still complaining about no online, no online for DKTf. And still after complaining no online on games still same result for 3D World. They don’t listen. Yet Dr. TRE says we should not boycott splatoons All they do is put online on Mario zkart and Smash brothers. No online for Mario Party 10.
Sone would say every game doesn’t need Online. But who’s to say if a 3D/2D Mario tittle never got it in the first place?
Luigi’s Mansion didn’t do so hot on the GameCube which is why they made the sequel for 3DS and since LM2 did a lot better, the next game will likely come to Wii U or their next home console. Star Fox’s last game “Command” on the DS also didn’t do so well so the comeback now on Wii U should be a good time to bring both things back to the spotlight. Same for Metroid when Other M became its biggest failure yet and gave the series another pause until Tropical Freeze from Retro Studios got a red flag from its reveal for not being what the fans expected and it’s disappointing sales so due to those occurrences, Nintendo more than likely gave Retro Studios the green light to make 3D Metroid again.
Pikmin 3 should’ve had online and hope Pikmin 4 (if it happens) will have online co-op/battle modes. NSMB needs to end because it’s been the same game since after the DS version plus Mario Party sucked since 7 and with no online play at least for minigames isn’t helping the series at all.

It’s pretty disingenuous to generalize the entire game library for the Vita – it does have exclusives, and is actually a decent platform for a great deal of indie games. They may not all be AAA titles, but it’s a fine device for playing games.
And the idea that it’s only selling because of a “few RPGs” can be analogous to the Wii U only selling because of a “few 1st party games”.
I know it’s easier to hate something and to always be critical – Commander does it because he’s a douchebag elitist prick, but don’t fall to his level. Console and company bias to such a degree of hatred just shows how petty people can be.

If Nintendo thought about power in 2008 as well as estimate how powerful the PS4 would be 7 years ago then it would have sold more units. I own a PS3, wanted a PS4 but changed my mind (because PSN charging $50 for a shitty ass hackable service just to play online is bullshit; should’ve stayed free and so does Live) and have been playing PS since the first console plus I bought PSP and regret it ever since.
Mobile PS has never been keen to me which is a lesson I learned well from PSP and Vita has absolutely no reason to exist.
You can get a Borderlands bundle of the Vita for just under $200, but I digress.
I’d actually be genuinely interested to see how many of those Vita games are on the PS3/4. I know that there are a good number of remakes as well, but people never seemed to have an issue with Nintendo porting over old games to the GBA/DS, either.
Simply having that portability not just with old remakes but new games is reason enough for some people, but again, the indie market for Vita is exceptional, since it supports Unity and is developer friendly. There are numerous articles detailing good reasons why one might want to buy the Vita, as there are for any console. Just because you don’t think it a good buy doesn’t mean that’s true.
Still, I can get a Borderlands 2 GotY edition for $20 on PS3. WTF would I waste $200 for a DEAD system and a watered down port?
There is this really retarded mixed perception of the Vita, which has lead to its misfortune. People hate the system, but then they want its games on PS4. Even before the PS4 was out, it was the same, people just wanted it on PS3 instead or every time it got a good game all they did was compare it to console quality, when everyone knows it’s a handheld. Then they bitched and moaned when Sony slowed down support for the device (hmm I wonder why.)
Leaving Vita fans feeling betrayed because their exclusive games start showing on PS3 and PS4. When ironically enough, it’s their own fanbase causing the problem. It’s no different than Nintendo capitalizing on their more profitable system as well and giving it more attention than the Wii U gets. So how can people blame Sony for focusing on what is making them more money and what their retarded fans want more, sadly.

Japan has no use for XB1. Funny, neither do I. PS4 sells on the name alone. Shit exclusives for these systems. No difference between PS4 and XB1. I’m just waiting for a God Eater 2/Rage Burst localization announcement. I have been waiting on this game since the first GE 2 was announced. I played the Japanese trail on PS4 and loved it. It’s a really long trial too. Tons of missions you can go on.
I would still rather play on Vita though.
The reason why the long wait is because PS4 doesnt need that tittle to sell compared to Wii U needing Zelda and Starfox. That’s why GTA V is still top 5 and while Wii U is waiting for some tittles to surpass PS4 and Japan again.
It was a Vita/PSP exclusive first. This is the first time it has come out on PS4.
I wish I could say the same for Pokémon coming to Wii U. Yet put a popular fighting game for a home console to a fighting game. So all togather Smash is at 4 million. Now imagine if that was a Wii U exclusive it would never let Xbox pass Wii U in sales. they’ll take a popular software tittle traditionally for a home console and put and put it on their handheld. But won’t ever bring no traditional handheld software to Wii U. Yet Sony is. Good for Sony not dumb like Iwata.
Yeah, the way the Wii U has been handled hasn’t been good from the start. It is improving but may be too little too late.
There are tons of games that could make the Wii U skyrocket. Pokemon – a full Pokemon RPG with online, the trading card game built in, etc. could be the biggest thing for the Wii U and games in general that we have seen in a while, yet Nintendo says no.

You could say the same thing for the Wii U’s first year and any other system that has hit the market. It feels like everyone who makes these types of comments are playing video games for the first time. It usually takes about three years before a system starts getting a steady flow of quality games.
This new generation has actually been considerably better than previous generations and their first few years on the market.
On the note of The Order 1886, I enjoyed it. I hope there’s a sequel too. Everyone I know who has actually played the game, while not claiming it’s a GOTY contender, they have enjoyed it.
