Those of you that prefer having the original Japanese voice overs in video games will be disappointed to learn that they won’t be present in the English version of Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. The news comes from Eurogamer who recently had the chance to try out the localised version of the game. I’m sure it won’t stop you from purchasing the critically acclaimed RPG when it comes out in April.
Does the 3DS port add anything, though? There’s one omission that smarts a little, with the Japanese voice track that accompanied the Wii version entirely absent. In its place is the fully localised, fully voiced English dialogue, complete with the slightly amateurish, totally charming voice work that Nintendo has lent its RPGs in recent history. It’s the sole compromise that seems to have been made with this port.
Thanks, MasterPikachu6

And nothing of value was lost.
Idk, Fiora and Riki’s British voice acting was terrible imo.
And Mumkhar’s VA sounded like the the dev’s were drinking in a bar, took a drunkard from there and asked him to VA
No problem to me, I normally prefer the original voices, but regarding Xenoblade’s British dub, I find it hilarious in a good way.
Good! fucking weeaboos have to ruin everything with their Japanese wannabe attitude just fucking irritating.
Loser
Englsh dubs suck balls
Why turn the Japanese voices on when you can’t fucking understand them. This the thing i hate with subbed anime. You just there looking at the bottom of screen. What the point watching it when you’re sitting there looking at the damn bottom the whole time.
you must be the slowest reader ever if you’re always looking at the bottom of the screen when watching anime. The point is that the Japanese voices sound better to most
Sub is better than dub bruh
Sub takes the emotion out the anime and you’re fucking missing shit when you are staring at the bottom of screen.
Really? Wow…
Coming from a Scandinavian country, I hate watching dubbed movies and other dubbed stuff. Original language, English or not, all the way!
But in an RPG without lip-sync? It doesn’t really matter what language one has, so English would be prefered in that case!
Indeed, I don’t get how anyone can watch dubbed crap…
^This guy gets it.
No. There should be an option.
you are all fuckin weeaboos
And you’re what? Yeah, nothing
No, dubs take the emotion out. They often sound unprofessional and unnatural. And anime that takes place in Japan, it’s so dumb hearing them speak English. Most Japanese people suck at English. lol
Idk know what kind of dubbed you have been watching but all the ones I’ve watched have sound pretty damn professional
Most of the people who hate dubs, have a pretty good reason. I was wondering why so much hate existed on dubbed anime. I started watching dubs anime around 2006, and found the dubbed versions pretty damn good. Recently, I’ve gone back to watch older Anime like Love Hina, and other similar anime released around that 2001 period.
……………. I….I have never experienced so much pain in my life. Who hired these people?!
In any case, Bandai Entertainment and Funimation have some real talent in the mix.
And enough variety to have casts to fit a wide range of Japanese actors.
But I can fully understand why older gents are upset. The casting choices they made where unforgivable.
It all depends on which dub. There are some great dubs that I even prefer over the original, e.g. I fell in love with Holo’s voice in the Spice and Wolf dub (outstanding performance by Brina Palencia) and I am not even a native English speaker, so I am used NOT to watch English dubs.
You must be …. Not even going to finish
You should learn Japanese while watching subbed or you’re stupid. I don’t need the subs 70% of them time. Dubs are stupid and for children.
So you are saying the dubbed deadman wonderland is for children. The shit that’s said in that show is far from being for children
Yet you watch shit like Naruto ? Yea….
Why am I arguing with a pathetic fucker whose named anonymous.
Dubbed Deadman wonderland was bad though. I was previously a fan of Dubs mainly because I hadn’t watched any with subs, However watching a action packed scene is 99% better because English dubs fuck up so much of it.
Guys…guys. I get it if u like the J voices better… But you ARE looking at the bottom screen and miss the action while watching with subs, there’s no doubt about that.
Not true at all, you must be a slow as fuck reader if you’re missing the action or are purposely staring at the bottom of the screen
Call me crazy, but I like to read. I leave closed captions on when I watch TV. >.>
We all love to read Michelle. If we didn’t there would be no comment replies. You’re no where near crazy
Having to read watching movies etc etc is almost required these days since they mostly whisper and talk so softly these days…
This’ll be my first time playing the game. I’m really excited!
I bought it for the Wii a few years ago, but never really played it. Might check it out in the eShop if have some time to spare on an handheld game!
Oh boy! Here comes the Weeaboo fan rage!
This is just my opinion, but seriously, I can’t stand looking at the bottom of my screen and looking back up. I haven’t watched an anime in a long while, last one being The Big O that I rewatched, but I rather experience the anime fully so I can view the characters, artwork and story much better. In my opinion dubbed is the way to go for me. Hope the Weeaboos don’t attack me now.
You calling them weaboos is just asking for flaming….
Why are you even capitalizing weaboos lol
Now that I remember I did watch 2 animes subbed and didn’t really enjoy reading half the time. And I’m a fast reader, I just rather watch it instead. I liked the dubbed version of xenoblade chronicles and can’t wait to play it.
^This guy gets it
Here are a names of a few of my favorite animes that are dubbed:
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Neon Genesis Evangelion
The Big O
Gundam Seed/Seed Destiny
Tiger and Bunny
Gurren Lagann
Don’t forget
deadman wonderland
Inuyasha
High school of dead
Casshern sins
Rosario + vampire
Naruto and naruto shippuden
I’m glad you guys didn’t include DBZ in that list. The funimation dubs are so terrible. The Ocean dubs they originally had were far better, but I also love the Japanese voices. Japanese people makes sounds and such that americans just don’t lol. Adds to the anime weirdness.
I don’t like dbz. I try to stay away from funimation. Viz media has some good dubbing.
VIZ! That’s who I meant earlier. I get them mixed up sometimes.
Yeah I wondered why you said funimation had real talent lol
I love dbz and the funimation dub was awesome goku in jap sounds ridiculous ! you weeaboos wanna flame me for liking the superior language that is ENGLISH ? Well bring it on you wannabe Fuckers!
Thays cool I like deadman wonderland, inuyasha, and rosario + vampire as well. I also recommend Dance in The Vampire Bund. I also just got done watching Psycho Pass english dub on Netflix and loved it.
Is psycho pass the anime when that guy is obsessed with anime girls and hates reality.
No, that’s your life.
Go choke on a fucking dick
Yours?
No love for Full Metal Alchemist?
Love that one.
Are you from an English speaking country? If not, do you watch dubbed or subbed movies?
There’s no reason to use the word weeaboos. I personally don’t like dubbed anime, but your preference is all you.
After googling the word Weeaboo. It is by far needed in this situation.
Nope. It is like me calling you a dubbie.
am not a weeabo am an otaku
Hate to break it to you, but if you call yourself an Otaku then you ARE a weeb.
Great now I get to hear the awful english voice acting that accompanies almost every englished dubbed thing to leave Japan. If you don’t want to deal with subtitles that’s fine. At the least give us the option to download a free voice track through the eshop.
Fuck no you want a weeaboo version? import a japanese console ! i hate getting an anime game and its nothing but fucking jap voice ans eng subbs i sell that shit or dont bother if it’s like that unless you can turn that vile sounding torture off the game and just have music i wont even pick it up and waste my money.
I agree. I love the game project x zone for 3ds, but the Japanese voices are so annoying and a lot of people sound very similar even though there completely different voice actors.
heck yeah
So people can’t have OPTIONS? Don’t be a retard. Spend over $200 just to get one game, hurr durr
well if they are that hard up on being something they are not they should go the full mile if not they should stop being so elitist and get used to the fact of they should be happy the game was localized in he first place! Language of audio shouldn’t be a fucking issue!
That’s a shame. I was going to play with the Japanese voices this time. Oh well.
I know this news my come as a shock to some, but let’s not loose our ‘eads though!
Pass.
The English voices where awesome, i switched once to Japanese just to see the diference and the voices were horrible LOL
Wow you just have shit taste LOL
I’m cancelling my pre order. I still have the Wii game.
Lol, you must be fun at parties. If it bothers you so much. Import a Japanese 3DS (New) & buy the Japanese Xenoblade edition.
That sounds like quite the expensive solution to his problem
Wow and nobody even realized they’ve been reading dialogues in almost all Nintendo 3DS games…
I don’t enjoy dubbed anime in my native language or English especially when it’s a comedy because all the jokes gets lost in translation.
I played the Wii version with Japanese audio and English subs so playing it with dubs is almost new to me… But I’m not complaining, I’m just glad I can play the game anywhere.
Any half decent dub will replace jokes that rely on Japanese knowledge entirely.
Any decent dub will stick too the correct translation and only slightly vary the translation like Viz’s dub of Sailor Moo.
People will find anything to argue about, huh?
All day every day G! @.@
I guess I’ll get the japanese one someday. I hated the british voice acting its so annoying, I can barely stand shulk in smash
well the same here with the US voice, can’t stand them.
Playing a Japanese rpg in dubbed in English is destrespectfull to the game.
I’ll be just fine with this. I would have to get my cousin to translate, and blah and yah no. This is a good thing, so long as the English voice overs aren’t to ridiculous.
aww dammit i guess they had to make a compromise somewhere but i really liked the Japanese audio…
So many ignorant fools here. Just because you’re a unilingual idiot, don’t assume everyone else in the world is. I’ve heard some people even know more than 2 languages.
No Japanese, no purchase for me. I don’t need to hear that brutal english dub with it’s annoying British accents.
#### u vulcan jap voices made my ears bleed ! and gave me a head ache the only voices i can stomach are french and english
And clearly your opinion mirrors the rest of the world right?
nope only the retarded weeaboos there fore you opinion is invalid !
Nope only the retarded weeaboos therefore you opinion is invalid!
I’m soooo sorry for your loss.
Typical American^
well I just hope the English voice will be British and no US…
This isn’t tea and crumpet time with shulk.
What, this again? The Japanese language is too subtle for untrained ears such as mine, making it come off as repetitive and unengaging. Though considering the fact that the Japanese can’t seem to make a coherent story to save their lives 9 times out of 10, the latter may very well be the case for the voice actor.
You probably never played Xenoblade if you think it doesn’t have a coherent story
all japanese vas seem to sound the fucking same in anime anyway what are they that limited for talent they employ the same three people over and over?
It’s as if a million weeaboo voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
Faggot American ^
LOL a mad weeb. They’re everywhere now.
And their tears make taste so good ! muhahahahaha!
Reblogged this on NEOTAKU!.
Pre Ordering this game! Can’t wait! Would have been upset if there was no English dialogue, so I’m totally fine!
Well if the weeaboos are that hard up on being something they are not they should go the full mile, if not they should stop being so elitist and get used to the fact of they should be happy the game was localized in he first place! Language of audio shouldn’t be a fucking issue!
NOOOOOOOOOOO!… now I have to listen to British Shulk :,(
And this (too) is why they should get rid of region locking.
imo subs are kind of silly if you have no interest in learning the language. and if you are, you should have gotten a Japanese N3DS anyways.
You can argue all you want about subs having better voice actors, but that’s just you being nitpicky. You probably can’t even tell whether a Japanese voice actor is good or bad unless you’re really used to the language.
I personally enjoy sub a lot more. Dub versions can be good but during emotional encounters I can’t help but feel the dub VA’s just put no emotion into it.. or the tone of their voice doesn’t match what is shown. At least that is how I’ve seen it recently but it depends on your preference.
As for those who are confused as to why some prefer subbed version anime despite having to keep up with the subtitles below, not sure how to explain it properly but it comes down to practise with eye coordination. Soon you’ll be able to keep up with the text below and what is going on in the backgrounds, foregrounds or whatever else present. At first it can be a task but I feel as though when the voice actors speak, your mind naturally is in tune with what they are saying and what the written text below. Not sure if that explains well but that is how I learned. Harmonization I guess.
*…and the written text shown below.*
Actually, this DOES stop me from buying the game. I don’t want no dub-only games, and I’ll never buy them.
Hopefully the WiiU Xenoblade X game will have the original Japanese voices. My decision to buy a WiiU or not pretty much hangs on it.
