GameTrailer has reminisced all the times we’ve been excited for an awesome game, only for it to get cancelled and leave us in despair. They decided to rank the top 10 cancelled games on a scale of how much emotional pain their cancellation caused. Mega Man Legends 3 features on the list for Nintendo 3DS at number 3, and Star Fox 2 features at number 2– both pretty painful experiences. But, taking the top spot for most upsetting cancellation, is the very recent wound of Silent Hills after Del Toro left the project. So, what do you think of GameTrailer’s list? Which cancelled game project caused you the most pain?

Silent Hills cancellation definitely sucks. But Legends 3 is without a doubt the number 1 spot.
Us fans waited over 10 YEARS for a sequel. Only for it to be cancelled.

Don’t care about most of these, that said the cancellation of the new silent hill was just stupid , just stupid. Miss mega man dearly and I can only hope someone buys the IP that cap on refuses to use. Most devastating to me was the latest in the legacy of main series “dead sun” sure I wouldn’t be to excited to see square work on the IP, and I don’t care for their free to play spin off “nosgoth” but I still miss LOK games….

I downloaded P.T. a few days before it was permanently taken off the store. And I haven’t played it. I watched other people play it on YouTube and it looks terrifying. I had no idea it was a horror game before I downloaded it and I don’t usually like those kind of games. One day I might build up the courage to actually play it. But for now, it’s just sitting there. Waiting to be played. I scroll past it to my other games but I still cringe when I look at its details and it says “no content available”. It’s like a curse on my PS4…
Earthbound 64 is the game that killed me when it got cancelled. Not to mention the Mario Artist series. Never got over my disappointment about those.

Also, it’s not on the list, but Bomberman 3ds was cancelled when the shit Konami bought Hudson, I’m so frustrated, the game was almost complete..

The Bomberman games on N64 were a big part of my childhood. I think Second Attack was my favorite of the three.
Pity what White Bomber has become these days…
I can say the same, i have bought the bomberman 64 game again just to put on my collection and to remember my childhood, even not having a n64 console anymore.

I like how you guys dont mention Mother 3/Earthbound 64 as number 7….. It is a Nintendo game.
Most Mother fans say the series should never go 3D, but EB64 (for its time) looked like it would have been fantastic. The Mother 3 we did get is fine and dandy, but the original just had a darker, more gritty atmosphere to it, had a lot of content that was cut from it and the most disappointing lack of feature of them all was the fact that it looked like Flint was going to play a much larger role in the game then he did in the final version. Getting Mother anything from Nintendo would be like trying to squeeze blood out of a rock, but even more so then a Mother 4 I would want a 3D remake of Mother 3 done as an “extended cut” that reworks the games plot to include the missing original story segments.
There is absolutely no excuse for Nintendo to never have released or yet to release StarFox 2. The game is basically complete and what little was left has been fixed by fans to make a fully functional game. They should have released it for the DS in a bundle that includes the original SNES version, the Weekend Competition version and maybe like a rom hacked re-make of the original SNES one that is designed to be as a prequel game with James McCloud, Peppy and Pigma in the first fight against Andross.
And even though I would only buy it as a physical release, there is no excuse that Nintendo has not officially released the game on one of their eShops in all this time to make a quick buck with pretty much no effort on their part.
I am hoping beyond hope that the spiritual successor to Mega Man Legends 3 becomes the sequel/spin-off to Mighty No. 9. Doing a Kickstarter again would pretty much make it very similar to how they were originally taking fan ideas for the game.
Also didn’t watch the video, but the other 4 main cancellations I try and hold out hope will someday see the light of day are Jazz Jackrabbit 3D, WarCraft Adventures: War of the Clans, MegaMan Universe and Sonic X-treme (which would be awesome on the 3DS).
