Today is a good day for gamers as the Senior vice president of consumer and industry affairs for E3 has announced that there are now slots allocated to the general public. This means that you no longer need to be in the industry or games press to attend E3 this year. Rich Taylor, senior vice president of consumer and industry affairs for E3, has told Polygon that 4,000 to 5,000 non-industry people will be invited to the show via invites given out by companies who are exhibiting at the event.
“This year, for the first time, there will be prosumers in the halls. While fans have been let into the show in small numbers over the years through contests, the ESA says this new policy is a first.
About 4,000 to 5,000 non-industry people will be invited to the show, Taylor said. The passes, good for full access to the length of the show, will be handed out by ESA member companies which are exhibiting on the floor. The number of passes a company gets is based on the size of its booth, and thus monetary contribution to the show.
“Member exhibitors each have an allotment of some passes that they are permitted to distribute to their valued customers.”
Might make for some fun crowd reactions, if nothing else. Boo those Microsoft bastards right off that stage for me!
So how are the companies giving them out? Is that at their own discretion or are there restrictions the people at E3 have on that?
it must be a blast to go inside! One day I want to go, one day..
Awesome! This move will greatly help Nintendo’s standing among the gaming industry if Nintendo do the right thing at the Digital Event online at E3 2015.
Yeah, after I move like 800+ miles from L.A. Nice going. (- _ -)
You too? I lived, literally, 20 minutes away from the convention center. I moved to Chicago about 6 years ago though. This wouldve been awesome since I spent a lot of time in Downtown L.A. way back when.
Well I’ve been invited to go to Nintendo’s booth at Comic-Con the past two years. I hope I get invited to go to E3. That would be incredible.
How do you get invited?
It was just through email. The second year wasn’t that special because it was open to the public, but the first year was cause only people who were invited got to play the Wii U. And that was months before it was even released.
I WILL GO ONE DAY!!!!!!!!
It was inevitable really, Gamescon is open to the public and its starting to take the spotlight from E3. Either way, im glad we’ll finally get some REAL reactions from the Presentations.
These people aren’t fashionable.
I live in West LA.
Gamers, more like gaymers.
