Bloodstained’s Kickstarter Hits $5 Mil., 3DS Prequel/Roguelike Dungeon Mode Stretch Goals Unlocked

In the Kickstarter’s final throes, Koji Igarashi’s project Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night reached its final, $5 million stretch goal (combining the Kickstarter and PayPal backing numbers). With only 9 hours on the clock, backers of the game can now expect:

  • An upcoming free 2D, pixel-based, retro-styled prequel mini-game for PC/Consoles/Handhelds
  • A Roguelike Dungeon Mode

The past few updates have shed some light on these two stretch goals:

The Prequel Mini-Game, which you casually grabbed as you were sprinting to the bottom of the basement, is the kind of thing Inti has done before — see Mighty Gunvolt — but rather than a crossover, this game will be set entirely within the Bloodstained universe, casting some light on the events that transpired prior to Miriam’s awakening.

This game will later be sold separately, but every $28+ backer copy of Bloodstained will come with a FREEdownload of this game on PS4, XB1, Wii U, or PC! (So backers at Physical+Digital tiers will be eligible for 2 copies of the mini-game.) At the current pace of funding, it’s just a matter of hours until Inti is committed to develop the minigame for Vita/3DS as well.

That’s right: Procedurally generated dungeons. In this mode you’ll face a new castle every time, braving its treacherous (and massive) halls for loot, glory, and the simple, satisfying feeling of going where no Miriam has gone before.

Once you’ve explored its passages and defeated its boss, you’ll get a code that will enable you to share your randomly generated dungeon with a friend. (If you find a particularly hard one, you can even share it with an enemy! IGA isn’t picky.)

The game itself — everything you’ve come to expect from an Igavania — will be unchanged, but we’ll be adding a new mode to the game.

This is all terrific news for backers and ArtPlay alike — seeing that Bloodstained is now the most funded game on Kickstarter ever.

    1. Yeah, I hope we don’t have to wait too much time to see the finished product. Anyway, I’m very excited for this project, let’s hope it turns out to be great.

        1. 2 years and a half from now maximum sounds fair enough for all the content they’ll have to make. At least we’ll get the prequel mini-game while we wait!

It would be cool if they released the basic version of the game and then added in all the extra stuff as free DLC. Like what Nintendo is doing with Splatoon.

Then we can get the game on time AND get all the extra stretch goal content.

      1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

No thank you. I want a game to actually be finished upon release. And still got a month & 2 weeks, give or take a day, til August. Not to mention whatever days of August I have to wait for Splatoon to be fully finished with the missing content. And that’s if I haven’t lost what little interest I have left for the game.

    3. They’re targeting a March 2017 release – of course that’s just a rough estimation, it could take longer, as well as shorter, for the game to come out in the end.

      1. Oh, I see. I didn’t realize there were two payment options available. The kickstarter page doesn’t seem to update when it should.

      1. Damn, you basically rekt the hell out of him with that comment. Here’s a like for making my day. XD

  1. Ok. For $30 I can get it on my WiiU (and maybe 3DS? – I’m in.

Fuck Mighty #9, these guys keep adding serious content! I’m supporting Blood Stained. ;D

    1. (You get the prequel on your 3DS, not the entire game, but that is still awesome and you should absolutely pull the trigger. Love, unbiased blog writer)

      1. It is kinda a bummer the main game won’t be ported to the N3DS, as it’s my primary gaming system, but oh well. :) Sincely, Unbiased ecommerce marketer

        1. I think Koji should have ported it regardless — so much of Castlevania’s current success is based on the DS’s terrific library of Castlevania games. But at least it is seeing some love!

    2. For 30 you can DL 13 fukin emulators on android and play thousnds of games and hook up a physical controller if no android use a oc u pussy dont give ur 30 to this bootleg metroidvaina u coward gamer

      1. >dont give ur 30 to this bootleg metroidvania
        >spend your money on bootleg snes games on android
        >wat

            1. SNES: 49 million
              Genesis: 40 million

look it up stupid sega fanboy

go cry to mommy shit stain

      2. $30 gets mw the full game on WiiU, and the prequel on WiiU or 3DS. I’m a huge castlevania fan and played Mirror of Fate 3x through. If this game has the same quality, I’m ok paying $30. Also, I have a windows phone. Emulators and trash games are not in my Phone’s app store. (there is some trash, but not nearly as much)

  3. I bet this never releases on Wii U. By 2017 Nintendo will have thier new console out, and they will put bloodstained on that system instead… Guaranteed.

    1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I’d be cool with that, to be honest. The Wii U should be nice & dead by then if it doesn’t die in 2016.

  4. WOOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s great news. I can’t wait to get my Castlevania fix when this baby comes out
