We never did get our Retro Studios game at the Nintendo E3 Digital Event, but that doesn’t mean the development studio is sitting idly twiddling their thumbs. If you’ve been following Nintendo of America’s job opening Twitter account you will have noticed that there have been a number of positions open at the acclaimed development studio. It seems reasonably likely that their next project will be for Nintendo’s next platform which is codenamed NX. Development on their last game Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze ended in November 2013.
Thanks, icekirbyixi

>>>So at this point they are working on 2 games at once and will be begin on the third one most likely for the NX soon enough>>>
Two? Which ones?
>>>If we take into account that they have been hiring personnel for about 2-3 years now and I think it was Lord Miyamoto or someone else saying that they could work on 2 games at once for a bit over a year now, it’s likely that they are making 2 games right now, which ones I can’t say>>>
I had completely forgotten about Miyamoto saying that, you’re right. Fingers crossed.
Donkey Kong Country: Atlantic Summer
Followed by Donkey Kong Country: Arabian Mid-Season
>>>They’ll make Donkey Kong Country: Nintendo Commander travels to the Metroid Realm and ignores everything that happened before the wormhole travel>>>
They WERE working on 2 before DKC TF and their current one, now they are just working on their current one.
np :3
NX better have the killer titles ready at launch this time. Sad though that WiiU is pretty much ditched, unless they plan to do cross releases, which i doubt.
i hope to god it not for the NX i just dont want the wii u to die just yet, it hasnt even been three years since it was released. i loke the wii u and i hope the next game is for it.
Why. They ain’t making no real games for it or putting as much effort into the Wii U anymore. The later games are less graphical compared to the older ones. Yeah they pretty much given up on Wii u.
Just because they didn’t show that many games yesterday doesn’t mean that is it. I don’t understand why everyone is saying that, the next console could take 2 to 3 years to release.
I’d say 2 years at the most. We already have devs saying that they’re skipping Wii U development in favor of NX. The Wii U is pretty much over now, sad to say.
Nintendo is in a bad position right now. They are probably scrambling after that E3 Direct. I hope they offer us some great deals in the future to make up for their terrible, horrendous, disappointing mistake.
Maybe a couple free games here, some two for one deals, extra bonus content, etc, etc. Nintendo literally has to GO OUT OF THEIR WAY to win back each and every fan they crushed with their last E3 Direct.
That is their punishment.
Nintendo’s whole E3-
Smash Direct-Great
Nintendo World Championships-Amazing
Nintendo Digital Event-Meh
Nintendo Treehouse Event-Going good so far.
Overall, it’s actually been a decent E3 as a whole for Nintendo, barring the Digital Event.
>>>Too bad that the main focus was just what they failed at>>>
True. I still think that they should have crammed the Smash Direct announcements (Roy/Ryu/Tourney Mode etc.) and the Nintendo World Championships announcements (Mother 1/Earthbound Beginnings etc.) for the Digital Event. Then the Digital Event would be more fondly remembered…
No. Those things were cool in their own right, but wouldn’t have done shit for the Digital Event. DLC, a 20 something year old game, and a tournament don’t make the Wii U any better. I’ve seen a few people say this, and just no. The Digital Event would have just been a longer disappointment.
The Smash Direct was boring, because they revealed stuff that was already leaked. It wasn’t Nintendo’s fault, but still put a damper on things. Plus, the DLC was over priced which left a sour taste in people’s mouths. I only caught the end of the World Championship, but it seemed pretty cool, but I’m not going to say that it makes this E3 any better. Their digital event was so goddamn terrible I just stopped paying attention to Nintendo.
I have not watched any of their Treehouse crap since the direct, so all I have left is the terrible, terrible disappointment.
Very bad E3 overall for me and for most Nintendo fans who only really pay attention to the new games they are “supposed” to reveal.
Actually, I think the leak was their fault indeed. It is their job to keep information like that secret, but rumours about both Ryu and Roy being DLC characters started emerging literally months ago. It’s them who made it so easy for people to find out.
I agree 100%. Nintendo has got a lot of asskissing to do for us fans and I think they know it. They also gotta make a few deals with 3rd party companies and make a couple of more games for the remainder of the year. That Direct was a spit in the face of every Nintendo fan, new and old alike. Nintendo has got to get their shit together, as a Nintendo fanboy I’m just keeping it real
>>>We should create a new group under my leadership of course, the N-Dub Nation is still damage controlling and fighting the wrong enemy>>>
You are a fanboy, as is the Commander, but yet you’re both calling out Nintendo for their abysmal E3. I’m proud of you both for doing that. And quite frankly, it speaks volumes that even fanboys are lashing out at Nintendo. Nintendo has no excuses. They burned us all. It’s kind of strange though, because they are actually uniting fans and fanboys into an alliance. Ironic that something good actually somehow came out of all this haha. Boy Nintendo, you really blew it.
Very well said! I barely ever agree with what paidenthusiast says, but this time I definitely think he’s right. It’s exactly as you’ve said, Nintendo’s terrible show has really brought people with usually differing opinions together, hah. If only they had achieved that with an outstandingly good presentation.
I know. If they had blown us away, everyone would be celebrating together. Instead we’re revolting together haha.
No they don’t owe fans a things. Quit being dramatic. Everybody has lame press conferences. No one can expect a company to have good conferences every year. Just vote with your money like most people instead of whining like you are entitled to something.
MY GOD GUYS! It was a disappointing E3, that doesn’t mean you should get constant sales and such!
YOU HAVEN’T EVEN PLAYED THE GAMES YET! Stop blowing this out of proportion!
Or… Or… Or… Maybe you guys still defending Nintendo are underacting?
They’re just wanking their dicks
To be honest, I’m surprised no one noticed those posts. They’ve been happening for a long time now. So much that I thought we’d see a Retro game at E3 this year. Or at least a teaser or something.
Yeah, I seem to recall them expanding and looking for new personnel after they finished Tropical Freeze. Hopefully they’re doing more than one project, as the Commander said.
what do you recall them doing?
Expand… Dong?
We’re fucked, aren’t we?
Oh, they did. I remember it too. And yet they apparently have jack shit to show us. It’s been two years since DK and they have nothing?!?! They truly are a second party for Nintendo. Disappointment!
There is no reason that Retro should only contribute one game (a 2d platformer) for an entire generation. Nintendo needs to get to work and give the true fans who bought their most recent console some more content.
To be fair, they did help with the development of Mario Kart 7 (and maybe with some other titles that I don’t remember right now too), and there have been rumors floating around of them working on Diddy Kong Racing for years (which would be incredibly retarded, in my opinion).
Rumours say that DKR2 is co developed by MonsterGames and Retro, which i´ll believe would mean similiar scenario as with MK7, Retro is only to there to provide help, perhaps lending them character models from DK games to faster the development and such, while Retro themselfs would be working on whatever they work (perhaps the real Metroid game everyone wants)
It’s a possibility, but I think that Nintendo picked Retro in particular to work on MK7 so they could familiarize themselves with the development of racing games. If that was the reason, they’re probably helping with more than just the models of DKR (not like Monster Games needs the extra experience that Retro brings to the table when working on a racing game, anyway).
Im donne with nintendo. I’ll keep my wiiu until 2016 so i can play star fox xenoblade and zelda amd after it i’ll sell it.
Im not going to pick up an nx so tjis is a goodbye to all of you nintendo comunity. Keep enjoying what you like! I’m finally done with gaming.
Thanks nintendo.
Well just lost another Nintendo gamer due to Dumbtendo’s dumb decisions in R&D again. I’m not buying an NX right away. I’m going to sit back and watch this time.
I think most of us are going to play the waiting game. But then Nintendo will say the hardcore gamers aren’t there or some BS and go back after casuals. And fail all over again. And eventually go bankrupt. And then the fans will piss on their grave.
Actually they are working on Zelda U. Sadly, people will whine and moan over anything they are working on that isn’t Metroid.
Miyamoto already confirmed that Retro wasn’t working on Zelda U and we’re already working on another title. The studio working on Zelda U needs to be close to Miyamoto for oversight, and Texas is too far away from Japan.
Was lame to have heard nothing from them. The WiiU forecast is pretty bleak.
