Thank you for everything, Mr. Iwata.
— PlayStation (@PlayStation) July 13, 2015
The sudden passing away of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has been felt all over the world. It’s not just Nintendo employees and fans that have paid their respects to Mr Iwata. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has tweeted a touching tribute to Satoru Iwata and he isn’t alone. The official PlayStation account has also paid tribute to him along with Michael Pachter, Capcom, Ubisoft and many more. Again, our wishes go out to Satoru Iwata’s colleagues and family. Here’s some of the tweets.
Sad day for Iwata-san’s family, friends, and gamers everywhere. His passion, creativity & leadership elevated our industry.

"Our deepest condolences & sympathies go out to Mr. Iwata’s family & everyone at Nintendo. He will be missed." – Yves Guillemot

Sad news this morning, rest in peace Iwata-san. Our thoughts are with his family and our friends & colleagues at Nintendo

Thanks, SimplyG

Ye
YEEEE
wait, wait, wait Pachter as the Nintendo hating Pachter? Wow guess Pachter does have a heart (a very small black one! but it’s there)
Still can’t believe he’s passed away what the fuck.
Same
xbox
It’s the dumbass fans that make the war, not the company.
So many people will give their hearts to iwata and if you don’t like it. Then bitch I’d suggest you get knocked in the fucking head with a hammer.
Well, let’s not be naive here. Yeah, it’s largely the fans that make the “console war” and all the fanboyism, but let’s not pretend like Sony execs like Jack Tretton never took swipes at Nintendo, or that Sega didn’t once don the competitive ad “Nintendon’t.”
The playful competitiveness shown by companies is nothing in comparison to the vehement and vile behavior commonly seen in the gaming community over “console wars”.
Industry personnel are mostly friends behind the scenes. Fanboys take it to extremes. There’s a huge difference between the behavior of both.
It’s good thing that I like Sony and there are some people from that side (the company and fans) that actually went out of their way to pay their respects to him. Too bad there’s the vocal minority of Sony fans laughing about this and saying things like “Hurr Nintenfags like you don’t deserve to have the company alive after this asshole’s death”. But it’s best to ignore trolls like that since their sole existence is to piss people off.
inb4 Nintendo Commander says something stupid and Xbots and Sonyians and other immature talk
You’re doing it wrong.
>>>I refuse to believe what these Sonyans and Xbots say>>>
lol Yves from Ubisoft is a prick and he lied to Iwata and Nintendo.
Exactly! He’s not a good ubisoft representative to talk about Iwata.
It’s not really Sony or Microsoft that is the problem, but rather their Fanboys who desire nothing but Nintendo’s doom. And no I’m not talking about every fan, just every fanboy, I’m actually a part Sony fan too, they can be very imaginative sometimes eg: Little big planet, Ratchet and Clank, FF, KH, and plus Uncharted is amazing! Nintendo is better though, I have a never ending list of amazing Nintendo games, and that’s in a big part thanks to you Iwata, RIP.
Not saying it’s entirely the Fanboys either, it’s also in a big part the Company, especially Microsoft. So I guess it’s actually closer to 50-50 than I implied in my first comment.
>>>Like the rest of the imbeciles in here, you’re wrong>>>
“Hey Einstein I’m on your side!”
quiet my boy.
>>>No, this is the day of Lord Iwata alone, everything else is irrelevant>>>
Yes! And staying quiet is the ultimate fucking tribute. Ignore those irrelevant bitches.
>>>For you maybe, not everyone has the same way of mourning>>>
Yeah and there’s also a wrong way to go about mourning someone’s death as well. Iwata didn’t care about fucking haters. Just follow in his footsteps for once.
>>>Tell that to the ones bashing me for no reason>>>
>>>And all I’m doing is following in his footsteps, most of you have no clue about how much this means to someone like me>>>
Maybe if you didn’t act all high and mighty all the time. Saying each and every human is fucking cattle. Then yes, people will finally see how much this means to you. But I know how you feel because you cared about iwata before he ever died, unlike some of these bandwagon fuckers who are just joining in just because.
>>>Cattle = everyone that hates Nintendo, its fans, me, this base and pretendos that know nothing about Nintendo and yet act like they are fans>>>
Wait are you calling yourself cattle?
>>>Can’t you read? I’m none of those>>>
Go look at the way worded that. You listed off everything that was cattle to you.
>>>No need to have “hates” in everything but if you like to have hate in front of everything then fine>>>
I’m fucking lost now.
>>>Anyway I’m off for today, I don’t have time for these idiots that know nothing about anything>>>
Later tetrabitch. Don’t let these irrelevant bitches bring you down. Never…
>>>Never, but today, my energy goes to Lord Iwata>>>
Good.
Cattle = large ruminant animals with horns and cloven hoofs, domesticated for meat or milk, or as beasts of burden; cows.
So no, go back to school Human.
>.< It's called slang, dude. A puppet is a wooden object with strings attached but that doesn't mean humans can't be puppets. Don't take every word so literal & actually join the rest of us in the modern age.
I hope people don’t bitch about the companies being ‘ nintendo haters’.
But they aren’t…
Apparently you haven’t been reading gamerfan2009’s comments. He made a few anti-Sony & anti-Microsoft comments. So sadly there are some people doing what Mr.L said.
I meant that rival companies aren’t Nintendo haters.
Oh. Nevermind. >.<
There were many, many, many others but obviously Sickr can’t post them all or the post would be way too big. But it just goes to show how far reaching Iwata’s influence was globally. Even my local news was reporting on it.
He will be missed. It’s a time to be united as gamers – no matter what preference you have in games – and pay respects to a man who did so much for the industry and for us as gamers.
Shuhei Yoshida also paid tribute on Twitter. It was in Japanese though.
During this tragedy, it’s really heartwarming to see so many people of the industry coming together and expressing their deepest respects for Iwata, no matter if considered “competitors” or fellow developers. Just shows how important Iwata was as a developer, president, and human being, seeing how many people genuinely care for him.
I got emotional reading tweets from different people online from famous and non famous. It’s a tough day for the business alright. I hope nintendo makes a Muppet amiibo of him to celebrate his contributions to the company!

OMG RIP. :(
This just goes to show that yes, they are competitors, but they are also human and actually nice to each other.
This warms my weeping heart that Sony and Microsoft have shown their respect for the CEO of a competition company. May the Lord bless them and may the Lord game on with Iwata San by his side.
Game the fuck on! (Sorry. I couldn’t resist.)
AlphaOmegaSin reference?
Yep. Speaking of, I wonder if he’s made a video yet of Iwata’s passing. He’ll have a lot of stuff to talk about because of the filth on the internet celebrating this tragedy.
Actually, he did make a new video about his death and I’m watching it now. I can seriously feel him the more I hear his tone on the issue. :(
I should watch that later after I’m done going through all of my wordpress email notifications for this site.
I’ve been going through a tremendous grief due to Iwata’s death. I barely slept this night.
I’m so terrified by this suddenly loss that I’m going to schedule an appointment with a primary doctor ASAP — sounds crazy, but yes, I’m going to do that.
Yikes. You are definitely over grieving.

…….
Damn it! Now I’m wondering if maybe I should get off the computer right now & go hug my son. ._.
It’s very touching that even Sony payed there respects since Nintendo betrayed Sony by going behind there back and team up with there arch rival Phillips at the time, Thank You Iwata and Sony for not holding a grudge <3
Someone doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Sony wanted full licensing on all CD based games. Nintendo weren’t going to get screwed over.
Iwata’s resting place will be in heaven and the souls of thousands if not more humans. So really, Iwata will never die but instead live on through us. It’s sad that it takes a death to bring the use of the word God about without bashing or flaming.
I don’t think he would want people to be sad and down though, he stayed relatively positive and down low about his condition. So much so, that I don’t think anyone (other than those closest to him) knew it was so bad. I still firmly believe Nintendo needs change, this just wasn’t the way I wanted it to come about.
Oh god! Now that you say that, just watch. An atheist coming to bash you is imminent.
Okay. That’s a bit of an insult to atheists because not all of them are like that. :/
A troll coming to bash you is imminent.* Fixed.

I wish every gamer was being like this. Sadly, we got a few trolls & fanboys doing the opposite.
Bungie also said a message.
Tons of companies and individuals said things about Iwata today and last night. Too many to list.

That’s nice, it’s sad this happened this news came out of nowhere.
The outpouring of respect and tributes filled with love and memories from all over the world really makes me feel proud that I’m a gamer, and that I had the chance to be entertained by such a wonderful man like Iwata. It must be amazing to have made such an impact on the world that even people who have never met you are crying and pouring their hearts out in grief over your passing. Wow! Satoru Iwata will live forever!
It’s been 8 years since then, Iwata-san would be proud.
