Zelda: Skyward Sword, Mario Galaxy And Metroid: Other M Could Be Coming To Wii U

It looks like the Wii U console’s Virtual Console lineup could be expanded with more Wii games soon. According to Nintendo’s database, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, the original Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid: Other M are among the classic titles that could be coming to the service. Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Punch-Out!! and Donkey Kong Country Returns are among the Wii games that were re-released via the Nintendo eShop on Wii U earlier this year.

    1. Personally, I think it’s because they still like the game.

In all honesty, I don’t think they’ve truly recovered from the whole Other M controversy. I think they truly believed that it would be a new platform for Metroid to jump from. In other words, I think they were really proud of their work. Unfortunately, the fans didn’t share that optimism.

      1. Well, optimism is the wrong word, since your referring to the past. The fans actually did share optimism with the developers. We all thought it would be great. But it turned out to be a big pile of steamy dog shit.

But I agree with you about them still thinking the game is great. Almost like they are in denial. If you walk into a Walmart, Metroid Other M is still fifty dollars. Yes, $50.00 fucking dollars to buy Metroid Other M at retail. What a joke. What the fuck is Nintendo thinking charging fifty dollars for that game. Hell, they’re charging only $30.00 for Mario Galaxy.. So yea, I agree with you. They are in complete denial about Metroid other M. But I had so much optimism for it.

I had too much for Other M as I actually liked the game when I played through it the first 3 times. Now, I’m in agreement with every other core Metroid fan about the game. Sadly, I still have Other M with my other physical copies of Wii & Wii U games. Then again, I think it best that game rot in my physical library of games to make sure no other poor soul ever gets tricked by the game’s fun gameplay.

        1. It is not, though. Say whatever you want about it, but it shares none of the fundamental design characteristics the series is known for. It has nothing to do with liking the game or not. I love Resident Evil 4, and consider it a terrible RE game. A great game, but a terrible RE. Learn the difference.

          1. I enjoy the game for what it is and that’s it you can whine and bitch all you want but don’t do it towards me do it towards Nintendo and I will try federation force for myself

  2. That’s right.
Re-release titles that still exist worldwide at select retail stores and are already backwards compatible with the Wii U itself.
Did that suddenly slip your mind, Nintendo?
Seriously, what’s with these irrational decisions?

    1. Yes, that is dumb. I mean, perhaps for new gamers who are only like 10 years old now or something, but HD remakes would have made me much happier since I missed some of these games the first time around for various reasons and HD versions peak my interest enough to pay 50 bones for them

  3. Why no gamecube tittles? IS project cafe that weak? I mean sure Wii is more powerful than Gamecube but the OS on Wii U probably too weak slow and stupid to handle Gamecube tittles where as Wii games is on the backwards capability area on the weak box.

    1. I’m not sure how they can when everything revolved around them. For SS to have no motion controls, the ENTIRE game would probably need to be rebuilt from the ground up. You’d need to fix the first two fights with Ghirahim, the giant eye puzzles, the list goes on.

How about no? Skyward Sword is one of the rare games that did motion controls right. Besides, motion controls is integral to the game so they’d have to remake the game from the ground up. That kind of development is better suited to making new Zelda games.

Oh the days when Other M was widely hated & most people that did enjoy it kept their mouths shut about it. But since Federation Force was announced, terrible Metroid games have been getting a lot of undeserved defense & protection from people that probably wouldn’t know a true Metroid game if it slapped them in the face.
