Takashi Mochizuki from the Wall Street Journal says that Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima has stated that the immensely popular amiibo figures will play a bigger role in the company’s video game business. How they plan to do this remains to be seen, but giving them more functionality could be a good thing depending on how its implemented.

Based on Nintendo’s most recent model of business… Yeah, I can’t say that is not true.
If I agree or not with this direction… I’m aware the problem is all mine.
I get it now. The NX will be an amiibo only console. I can’t wait for the new Mario Kart amiibo board game!
I don’t collect Amiibos because I don’t want them and besides I find them too expensive given the sheer amount of different Amiibos. I hope this will not become detrimental in my future Nintendo game purchases. Now if they release Amiibo cards then I’m all game.
No thank you i’m completely fine with the stuf the give now personally i think the best way to use amiibo is that they costumase your character or make the thing’s that amiibo unlock also avaible but you have to do something and amiibo just unlock it faster ( like costum’s in Mario maker )
Or maybe they are talking about a amiibo game
Oh yes, amiibo definitely weren’t being prioritized enough already, them playing an even bigger role in the future sounds exactly like what Nintendo needs! /s
Hopefully better stocks on hard to find ones. I want a game that allows you to use the character based on your amiibo figure in different worlds based on that character. But each world will play out like a world from a specific character.
So like Skylanders and Disney Infinity which was what inspired amiibo in the first place.
or like Yu-Gi-Oh
I’m hoping Amiibo will be the actually way to purchase games. This will appease the physical only crowd, the collector’s and even the digital (as the amiibo will just have an attached digital code. Honestly, if they don’t do that it will be a missed opportunity. I know I would buy them if it meant they were a complete game instead of the way they are used now. Because every game they make uses a distinct version of their IP (theme, look, etc) they’d always be able to come up with new ideas. Make it $60 total (game and amiibo) just like they are doing for Yoshi and TP HD. I’m telling you, that will work
Physical only crowd, myself included, we want our game cases for display.
Amiibo collectors, myself included, are a different crowd which want the figurine. The only reason I purchased TP was due to the Amiibo, otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered buying that title again.
So it begins. Once again, Nintendo gets the WRONG idea as to why something is selling. :/
Or why something is not selling.
What do mean why something not selling Amibo are selling out all over the place
This second comment of mine obviously isn’t talking about amiibo. You must be new here. Not all comments stay on topic on this blog site. My first comment was talking about amiibo. My second comment was talking about stuff that doesn’t sell which doesn’t include amiibo.
Like what? More Microtransactions? I’m still waiting for a game that actually lets you play the goddamn figurines within the game.
Hope this means an “Amiibo-Infinity” or “Amiibo-Landers” game is coming.
That would sell more than a calculator could count.
Mamma Jynx is alive?!
Hmm…I mean if you look at Kimishima’s past he has always been top tier when it comes to being a business man and getting profits in the end. So Kimishima is easily capable of solving the low Amiibo numbers…some people forget he alone was responsible for North America even getting Pokemon Gold and Silver when he was Nintendo Of America’s President (before Reggie), so Kimishima does actually pay attention to what North America wants…least he did in the past. So if Nintendo can actually FIX the Amiibo shortage problem, then over time everyone would have every Amiibo or most of them and games using them would be fine. As long as a game doesn’t FORCE Amiibo usage to work or to be played then I’m fine.
You know what would actually be cool? An amiibo battle game. Not smash. It can only be played with amiibos, but what you do is set them up on the wiiu, make a team, and take on other amiibo teams locally or on the internet. They level up, get stronger, learn new moves, and it plays out sort of as an rpg turn-based style game. And the twist is that amiibos from all the genres can fight each other.
Please no Amiibo Buttons in future amiibo games.
That is a stupid way to play the game.
What I do like is how one amiibo gives you something in many games.
It makes the price more worth it!
Store profile information on the amiibo and make it so it can rest on the console or be scanned on the controller. Maybe even have one come with the system and make it so, everyone would have one and it is more like an addition to the controller that might also unlock some things in games, but nothing mandatory.
If Nintendo went any sort of cloud route in the future (far future perhaps) the amiibo could be a link to that cloud storage, eliminating the need for big hard drives. It would have to be much better of course then any sort of cloud gaming now, but with VR as well, it seems that Nintendo won’t just do something when it isn’t ready, perhaps like some experiments in the past.
People will always collect them so even if they gave one with the system and people could use essential capabilities without buying a separate one, they will still sell.
whatever though… I’m high
*it’s
All I hear is how popular these things are but when I look at them in Target or Best Buy, they are always on sale and the shelves are full…
THE CONSOLE ITS SELF WILL BE AMMIIBO UPGRADABLE,GAMES UPGRADABLE MORE HARDWARE INSIDE THEM
WILL NOT UPGRADE JUST ONE GAME BUT WILL BE SOLD ON KEY UPGRADES,BUT WILL BE OPEN TO SUPPORT MANY GAMES…
THE CONSOLE EXPERIENCE WILL BE BSED ON CONNECTING HARDWARE TOGETHER
BASICALLY AMIIBOS WITH COMPUTING POWER ON BOARD GAMES THAT SHIP AS AMIIBO’S ETC
IMAGINE A BASE UNIT CONSOLE WITH A ADDED MARIO AMIIBO WITH A GPU AND RAM INSIDE AS ADITIONAL COMPUTATION UNIT COME CLOUD SERVER CLUSTER COMPUTING
NX AS POWERFUL AS YOU THE CUSTOMER WANTS IT TO BE….
