Japan: Wii U Sells 101K And Nintendo 3DS Sells 160K

This week’s Japanese software and hardware sales charts are now in courtesy of Famitsu. It was a great time for Nintendo platforms over the festive period as the Wii U sold 101K units and the Nintendo 3DS sold 160K, easily making them the best-selling formats. However, it wasn’t all great news for Nintendo as Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem only made its debut at number 13 which is likely lower than expected. 1. No wonder IR#FE (we really should stop calling it SMTxFE at this point) is not doing great. I don’t know about Japan, but Nintendo is not drowning us with info exactly.

        1. Really? Wow, I feel dumb for not knowing that, specially after calling that octothorpe a hashtag while I read it XD thanks for the first tib bit of te day lol

  2. Man it looks fucking awesome to see Nintendos home console at the top. Now if only the West changed a bit and Nintendo made a few changes to their old ways.

  3. WOW!!! Nintendo has been very dominant in Japan as of late. It’s amazing how Splatoon has been the game that has turn Nintendo’s fortunes around for the most part……well at least in Japan. It has become to that country what the Grand Theft Auto series has become in the states and Europe and that is a phenomenon. Even considering the popularity of Splatoon, it’s still shocking that the Wii U has been doing so well even when the PS4 just received a price drop in Japan not to long ago

      1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

Be sure to get Scalebound so you can tell me if it’s worth getting for when I inevitably get an Xbone for Rare Replay! lol

        1. I’ll let you know then. It does look intriguing but that last gameplay trailer left me a bit uneasy. It wasn’t running smoothly. Frame drops and tearing riddled that thing to no end but in its defense it was only pre-alpha footage.

      2. I’m drooling for scalebound. So far, I’ve been very impressed with the power and games for XB1. Even if it’s single handedly raising my electric bill.

        1. Lol I did notice my bill spiked a bit after I got it but I didn’t 2 and 2 together XD I hope Scalebound turns out good, anything Platinum related has me worried at the moment. They seem to be taking on too many projects and it seems to be hurting them.

          1. Yeah, I saw your comment on the Alpha gameplay. I’ll tread lightly. I hope they haven’t bitten off more than they can chew, I really want them to stay in the game for a while.

            1. Oh it should be. The game is hilarious, if you’ve played any previous Ratchet game, you’ll know the humor these guys have. I’m not going to oversell it and call it the greatest game on the XBO because its not, but its fun as hell. It feels like a game that should be on a Nintendo platform.

              1. I’ve been a Nintendo-exclusive loyalist all my life. I have no idea what you’re talking about, BUT, i will definitly check out Sunset Overdrive. I love some good humor and so far, every game I’ve played has been amazing!!

                1. Wow, I love Ninty but staying exclusive to them is crazy lol, not in a bad way, but you surely are missing out on a whole mess of games. Although, If I did have to side with one platform, in the end I would probably chose Nintendo, most likely the handheld side though.

heres a few of the cutscenes and gameplay of Sunset Overdrive. I wouldnt suggest watching the whole thing though, what with it being over an hour long and well, im sure towards the end itll be full of spoilers.

                  1. I’m sure I’ve missed out on a few games, but I’ve had no regrets until this year. Now that I’ve broken out of my Ninty chains, I’m so excited about the games I can play on my xb1… And they are so fucking gorgeous.

Thanks for the Sunset Overdrive recommendation. I’ll just get the game, I don’t want to watch any potential spoilers. Lol.

Nintendo forced my hand. I have been obsessively a Nintendo Fanboy since I was like.. 10. I grew up on gaming whem the coolest games where on cassette takes.. Commodore 64, Atari, .. But Nintendo fucked me for the last time. So I had to get another box. And I can’t express how happy I am with my XB1.

Nintendo will always be my favorite, but I’m done with their consoles for now. Handhelds, I’ll get day one… But that’s it.

                    1. Yeah, Xbox One has gotten a lot better since last year. It’s definitely worth getting now.

          1. I have to say, I’m a huge fan of Commander and his loyalty to Nintendo. I can say, I’m Half the Nintendo fan he is, since I bought an xb1, but I am still 100% behind him!!

            1. He’s something alright. Hes not a bad guy but he is a die hard, and one of the more extreme ones. In the end though, hes a pretty good guy with mad love for Ninty so I can respect that, its just his XBO bashing that dont care for lol. Doesnt he game on PC though?

              1. He might game on PC… Hard to say… And he is WAY more logical and reasonable than he lets on. He’s a true gamer. And I’m happy to support his Nintendo-Only RP account. ;) He’s not the crazy person some may think. He’s REALLY bright. I don’t know how he keeps his Nintendo-worship character so well preserved. He’s def a smart guy.

I’m Moodeeb on XB1 by the way!

                1. Yeah he’s a smart dude. Yeah! That something I can actually admire, no matter what his RP always stays intant. Lol that takes alot of dedication and some serious determination.

Cool, I just added you right now, my GT is: BasickAlphabit.

Same. But it is fun to mess with him from time to time when we’re on the opposite sides on certain subjects.

When was the last time the Wii U sales were this great in Japan? Or any country for that matter? *shrug* Well least it’s doing well for now. Considering the backlog of Wii U games at this point, it should do better for at least a couple of months. As long as the line up of new games for 2016 is also great, the Wii U should finally start selling some consoles. If this keeps up, I can finally stop calling the Wii U a sinking ship.

They need to put Gamecube games on VC altogether.
