A new trademark listing for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild suggests that the NX will use cartridges in some way. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing similar reports regarding the media format for Nintendo’s upcoming system – but the company itself has yet to make an official announcement, which could come before the end of this week.
Nintendo NX Cartridges Mentioned In New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Trademark Listing

I a know what the NX looks like. Dr. Egadd made me a his own version for some extra ghost h-h-hunting…
Hope the ghosts weren’t too scary
“Well your lucky darling, Luigi. I still haven’t gotten any information. Feel free to slip me some notes, I won’t tell the lumas.”🌟👑
||The doctor has been imprisoned for his lie…||
Sorry Luigi, but Mario is already in the know. I guess he takes his non-disclosure too seriously.
The more we hear about it, the more I want it to be true. Time to go retro!
Basically a lot of rumors every where that we notice.
Even if this has resurfaced again, it’s still old news at this point.
It will not look like those bulky NES cartridges, it will most likely be similar to a 3ds, ps vita cartridges, or sd card.
Ok. But it also says “video game discs” and “video game memory cards”.
I don’t think this really means anything.
Wii U is the Dices. NX is the Memory Cards. lol
I forgot this game was coming to the Wii U to be honest.
We all almost did as well. lol
Basically they are covering all bases. However, I’ve heard that game cartridges are better then discs when it comes to reading speed, storage space and production costs. I’m not sure about the last one, but the other two are legit.
Uh huh. Sounds about right.
This is 100 true. If you look at the email address, cojk.com it’s Seattle Washington Law Firm of IP which is where Nintendo is based at. Makes sense.
As long they get stuff out of the way. I wanted to see what this mysterious thing is.
There’s only one main thing that makes me not like the cartridge idea. The fact that the cartridges will probably be hard to clean if they get dirty (like DS and 3DS game cards). With Nintendo’s past, retro cartridge consoles, they all had those security screws that could easily be removed (with the proper security tool bit), and you could open up the cartridges and give them a proper cleaning. I always hated any console that had cartridges that couldn’t be opened. Like how Atari 2600 cartridges had the screws underneath the label, and you had to damage the label in order to open the cartridge (same with some unlicensed NES games). Because of that, my Atari 2600 games are the most dirty out of all of the games I collect.
Other than that one problem, I welcome cartridges. And my body is BEYOND ready for the NX announcement! Never have I been more eager for a Nintendo Direct than I am now. Or, however it gets revealed.
But then again, it also says video game discs after it.
That’s the Wii U version.
Wii U version. It also says downloadable game program. (And downloadable game software too.)
0 loading time? Just like myself. I like it.
How about we do this we all keep our options open until Nintendo actually reveals it and not just speculate and believe every rumour to pop up from reddit, 4chan etc? Plus I’m pretty happy with the wii u and 3ds to me it feels like a current gens gamer will say once a new fad comes out throw the old one away.
I want to see this thing already!!!

hopefully the cartridge for tLoZ:BotH looks like the original Zelda cartridge.
Wondering whether or not cartridges will become a mainstream thing in the industry again.

With how much memory they can fit onto tiny chips now a cartridge would probably work again. The 3DS game cards can be up to 8gb, so making a larger cartridge would allow them to put in quite a bit of memory. Not to mention it’d probably load faster.
If this is not a hoax or whatever & is 100% legit, Nintendo needs to get ahead of this & reveal the NX soon. It’s only a matter of time before other leaks hit the web. We don’t want another Cranky Kong fiasco.
It also mentions memory cards.
