Rockstar’s very own website has confirmed what some had feared, and that’s that the Nintendo Switch version of L.A Noire will be priced $10 higher than the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. There’s no explanation yet from Rockstar regarding why it’s priced higher than the other versions, but it does seem to be becoming a trend.
Oh no. Not again. The same f*****g story again.
Cartridges?
dumb, d-dumb, dumb dumb
Are they trying to Sabotage the game? History is repeating itself again, come the fuck on, the game won’t even use PS4/Juan assets
off course there sabotaging it WHAT ELSE DID YOU EXPECT
Yeah it’s obviously the company purposely sabotaging their own products. You are dumb.
Now that I read more of the issue, it seems the price hike is because the game will use a 32Gb card, which is more expensive than Blue Ray, remember guys, the Xbox 360 had 3 DISK for the game, it all makes sense now.
That is pretty interesting. For this type of game, I hope the cartridge helps with load times… or at least Id like to see the difference
It would help if the price of the other versions was mentioned on this, so I can figure out the overall total with $10.00 added.
$40 for PS4 and X1.
$50 for Switch.
Well I guess I won’t be buying a copy for EITHER SYSTEM!!
Im not giving you $40 or $50 for a old 360 game that goes for $5 to $8.99 at Disc Replay & Gamestop!!
That’s crazy prices for a game that’s already been out for years. I probably only paid $10.00 or less for the PS3 version. Unless this one coming to Switch etc. is a different game.
They finally release a game on a Nintendo system for the first time in a long time, and then they partially sabotage it? I understand, manufacturing costs are a bit higher for Switch cartridges at the moment (and obviously there was more work put into this version than just a simple graphics upgrade + VR), but this is going to hurt sales. $10 can make a difference on whether or not people buy your game (*cough* Ultra Street Fighter 2 *cough*).
The price difference has not hurt any game released that way. Most consumer will buy the one they want.
Dude, wtf… I totally understand the physical version being more expensive, but why can’t it be cheaper on the eshop?
Yes, exactly what I thought
This is due to a deal between game console companies and brick and mortar stores. Brick and mortar stores know that less cost is involved with digital sales. So the price can be cheaper. So digital store fronts can beat the brick and mortar price every time. Brick and mortar stores can’t lower the price too much or they would lose money due to production cost transportation cost ect. So they threaten to not carry the console of a company if they don’t allow the price of games to be the same in order to make it fair. You can’t download the console. So gaming companies agree to rule. Occasionally you’ll see a digital game come in cheaper but on the whole it will be the same entry price as physical. (until it gets older).
Probably because then retailers would complain that there’s no point in them stocking the Switch version (of this and any other game with this issue) if Nintendo is gonna cut their sales short by offering it cheaper on their own digital platform from day 1 which would damage Nintendo’s relationships with their retail partners which could result in retailers allotting Nintendo less shelf space, etc. and that would hurt all their physical sales (games, amiibo, etc. ) revenue.
I am unsure why this is, but Sonic Mania is also more expensive on the Switch eShop. It is less; 3-4 dollars or so, but still…
It is a very stupid marketing strategy.
||Unless someone purchases a copy for me, they will never see a quark of my resources…||
Likewise Commander. And it would take a lot for someone to convince me otherwise.
Why isnt the PSVR version the same price?
So is Rockstar the first major 3rd party to do this or have there been others? I think I’ve only seen price hikes on indie games so far.
Capcom and if I remember correctly, Konami.
This is a trend we’re seeing more and more…
It is a trend I don’t like.

This is a reply to why digital is the same price as physical.
Switch games cost more because of production of the cart. Not new news.
Hopefully Amazon prime has a discount for this game so I can at least it get the same price as on other platforms
Meh. I’ll still be picking up the Switch version, despite this being lame.
Looks like the attack rate for the Nintendo Switch is going to suffer like with the N64. That console had the worst attach rate for Nintendo (without considering handhelds). Luckily first party games are priced as usual, but it’s going to hurt third parties in the long run.
What? The attach rate for third party games on Switch has been stellar so far, what are you talking about, going to suffer? There’s 6 months of data you could research you know, instead of this knee jerk reaction and comment.
But are you a normal or are really that out of the world? Attachment for the Switch is 1.94 as far as I know (Nintendo games included). If you have other data you can share it. It’s very low, while understandable since that console is almost new. Still software sales aren’t high at all for now AND those that are making that figure less dry are Nintendo games.
Anyway I will appreciate if you just skip my comments, you aren’t the type of person I would be happy to talk with, very impolite.
so no graphics upgfrades and a tenner more ROCKSTAR DESIGNING THE GAME TO FAIL THEN BLAME THE SWITCH OWNERS
I TOLD YA SOOOOO
There is going to be minor upgrades in graphics but not on the same level as PS4 and Xbox One
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this amount of pointless crying on a MNN post.
Just shut the hell up and don’t buy a port if you don’t want to.
Savage
It’s due to the Game Cards and bonus features that are being included into the game, so of course it’ll be more expensive compared to the others.
I’m still going to get it because I had fun the first time on PS3
Cartridge prices? $50 bucks less won’t kill me.
I gots da monies
Trying to keep me from buying it? I’m calling your bluff. I’m still getting it.

Pingback: L.A. Noire $10 More on Switch Compared to Other Consoles - NintenCity
Didn’t they mention LA Noire will take advantage of the Switch’s unique controllers’ functions like HD Rumble & that you can even use the touch screen for stuff if you undock it? If true, I can honestly see why it’s gonna be 10 dollars more since the Switch isn’t getting just some direct port while the other systems are with only updated graphics. If so, better get use to the idea of paying more for some, if not most, Switch ports, guys.
