KOEI TECMO America announced today the upcoming western release of Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings for the Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Windows PC via Steam®. Slated to release in Early 2018, this latest entry to GUST’s popular Atelierfranchise continues from Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Bookand Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey, concluding the Mysterious series with an all-new heart-warming narrative.

The gripping conclusion to the Mysterious series marks the 20th Anniversary for the Atelier franchise, following the tale of the alchemist twins – the reserved but caring Lydie Marlen, and the eccentric and carefree Suelle Marlen. The young twins work alongside their father at the family atelier, but due to his inexperience in alchemy they rarely see any customers. While working hard to hone their skills, the duo uncovers a mysterious-looking painting, and as they reach out to investigate the girls are drawn inside a world bountiful with rare materials… perfect for Alchemy! This fateful discovery is just the beginning of the twin’s adventure leading them to their joint goal… to run the best atelier in the country.

To celebrate the reveal of Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings, KOEI TECMO America released a selection of screenshots and a brand new trailer introducing the game’s protagonists and a first look at the beautiful environments they will explore on their journey.

  1. These games have been almost PS exclusive since the 90’s with other platforms getting remakes or spinoffs. The Switch getting one day and day with the PS4 is really telling. Pretty soon all youll really need is a Switch, and a PS3 if you want to play all those ps4 remasters for cheaper. 😅

  2. Well I would be happy about this if it wasn’t just the third game in that series lol I’ve never played any of these games why would I want to start at the third game.

    1. Its actually like the 100th entry 😅

They dont really depends on eachother. The only thing that really connects them is that the main character from the previous entry is the teacher in the new entry. Theyre all pretty much the same. They just introduce minor mechanics to newer entry and they get prettier every generation.

      1. Lol yea I know they have lots of games in the series but I thought each trilogy had it’s own unique story continuing on from the previous game. I really never looked into the games because they always seem the same with each new announcement.

        1. Well kind of, think of it like zelda. You already know what point A and Point B are, but its whats in between the reason you play those games, to see the new mechanics at work and weapons.

Same with the atelier games, the stories dont differ much, you play them to see the new alchemy mechanics. This is the 3rd in the ‘Mysterious’ trilogy and if you have played the rest youll catch a few throw backs, like Sophie (the main character of the first in that trilogy) coming back, just as she did in Atelier Firis. If you are worried about missing much you can always wait for the next trilogy.
