UK Charts: Sonic Forces Enters At Number 5

It’s Monday which means it is time to see how the various software releases performed in the United Kingdom. It’s once again Call of Duty: WWII which settled itself at the top of the charts followed by FIFA 18. It could be dethroned by the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront 2 which releases on Friday. What is interesting though, is the disappointing Sonic Forces entered the charts at number five which just goes to show the strength of the brand. Here’s the best-sellers this week:

  1. No matter what happens, I’ll be hoping for a sonic adventure remake eventually, in the style of Crash N Sane Trilogy.

    Oh well, like that’s ever going to happen. Time to go back to playing Breath of the Wild!

    1. It’s not exactly incredible or great but at least it’s not\ where near as terrible. It’s like Sonic Unleashed But Unleashed was at least longer, simple and subtle with its plot and no overabundance or useless characters. XP Oh yeah and the villain/Monster is better directed.

    2. Incredible is not the word I’d use. After you beat the game (which is incredibly short)… then what? Revisit the same bland levels to collect red rings? Avatar stages were just atrocious when it came to control/movement. Last boss was laughable. The cut scenes were so cringe-worthy, over the top “grunge” style story. Generations was twice as better. All the Sonic Team has to realize is we want a sandbox style game with Sonic, something similar to Sonic Adventure (Maybe even Sonic 06 but make it good this time)…. throw in Chao Gardens even, so it’s something we can pickup post-game. Honestly I wouldn’t reccomend it, not even a first time around. Save your $.

  2. I don’t get why everyone shits on Forces. It’s not great, it’s not what it should have been or what it was being hyped to be, but it isn’t terrible. Yes it’s way too short and Classic Sonic’s presence wasn’t needed (any other character should have gotten those stages- all throughout the game the other characters in the resistance go on missions, but we never see theirs- we only ever see the Sonics’ and Avatar’s sides. I would kill to be able to play as Silver again), but I’ve found the boss fights to be fun and everything works, I haven’t seen one glitch.

    1. It’s like federation force (which I also hated) in that, it’s not the actual game’s fault at all, it’s just not what gamers wanted…and considering many people have been waiting for another sonic adventure or heroes since over ten years ago…y’know.

      I feel bad for the developers who probably wanted to make the games we fans actually wanted the most (at least what the majority wants) as think about it; would you rather of been known to of worked on samus returns/prime 4…or federation force? Same principle for sonic. It’s just a shame developers often have little say in where the series should go…speaking of things going…

      I think Iizuka and even some of the higher ups at sonic team need to leave. Mania effectively outdid their best efforts tenfold!

      1. In addition, I personally wasn’t a fan of the physics of classic sonic (or him even being in the game), modern sonic felt very automated, and the avatar was ok. At least the story was better than the colors era stuff we’ve come to expect, but that’s about it.

        Also, no Chaos 0 boss fight ;_;

      1. I think it controls alright, but I say that having not played the game on any other console/PC at 60fps. I have had one instance where I think the controls felt sluggish from framerate- early into Modern Sonic’s Chemical Plant level there’s a grind rail that holds a Red Star Ring right at its end, meaning your jump to the other rail needs to be timed perfectly if you want to grab it and survive.

        Also, during fights with Infinite, if you get hit, you get messed with by being in some virtual reality where there can be something new in literally every frame. *You* might react accordingly, but sometimes it feels like the controls don’t. Maybe it’s part of when you’re stuck in it, but the controls do feel a bit less responsive then.

        1. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King {Sony+Nintendo=Sonyendo!}

          I know Infinite’s power is based on bending reality to his will, so I’d be willing to chalk the problems against fighting Infinite as intentional.

  3. Infinite Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King {Sony+Nintendo=Sonyendo!}

    I’ve decided I’m gonna get Sonic Forces alongside Xenoblade Chronicles 2 next month. Just deciding on whether I’ll get Forces on Switch or PS4. It’ll be one of the very few multi-platform games I get for Switch as I’ll no doubt get the next Sonic on Switch, too, if it interests me.
