RiME for Nintendo Switch received an extremely welcome patch today and by the looks of things, it seems to be running much, much better. Fans had to wait a considerable amount of time for the Switch version to get released whilst PS4, Xbox One and PC players enjoyed the gorgeous title. When the release finally came round, it’s fair to say that we were greeted by a game that performed poorly. However, Tequila Works has been grafting hard behind the scenes working on a patch and now RiME fans can play a much more improved version of the title on Switch thanks to a major patch that went live today.
Check out the comparison video below to see for yourself how well the game runs now.
Definitely runs better. Looks like some of that performance gain might have been from thinning out the grass.
They reduced AA, that’s what you’re seeing.
Nah, the reduced AA is what’s causing the flickering in the gap in the distant tower at the beginning. There’s definitely less grass. It’s most noticeable at the bridge at 2:15.
Ah yeah, in a few area’s.. But it’s a quite minute reduction. The reduced AA is much more noticeable when looking at the grass. So I thought you meant that ;-)
I mean, the grass density looks to be halved in the areas I mentioned. It’s probably been halved overall but it’s less noticeable in the areas that have a yellow-orange texture beneath. I don’t really notice the lack of AA on the grass, probably do to YouTube’s
compression.
Yeah on the bridge it looks shorter, before that I think it’s mainly a matter of perspective due to the footage not being synced.
As for the lack of AA on the grass you can see it basically all the time on the top of the grass that’s a few meters away. There’s typical flickering that isn’t at all present in the footage of the original.
Seems to be a decent effort on their part, the game is actually playable now..
Have you played rime on switch with the patch then as I may be interested in buying this game now.
Sorry, just seen this now. The game is much more playable with the patch. Still has some issues but definitely a huge improvement. The game is pretty good as well, if you like that type of game play.
Still not interested about it
Yeah, they lost me with their shit work on the last version release.
Your loss!!
Looks a lot better, really pleased as I was always interested in this game but the port quality put me off. I waited for the patch to come and they’ve definitely improved things. Sold
MUCH better. But kinda too late to remedy the backlash and lost sales.
Too late my ass I’m glad they fixed the game as I’ll probably buy it now.
As a general mass, it’s already too late to recover from the bad port job, considering that there’s so many games out there right now and coming within a few weeks.
You can’t release a rushed half-weapon and expect everyone to rush to buy it once it has been repaired.
This is what I’ve been waiting for!!! Can’t wait to get this now!
