UK Charts: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze Enters At Number Two

This week’s UK video game sales charts are now in thanks to the team at GFK Chart Track. Friday saw the release of the excellent Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch and the game catapulted itself into second place which is very impressive. The game couldn’t dethrone God of War on the PlayStation 4 which was once again the best-selling title in the UK. Here’s the top ten best-sellers in the UK.

In just one week, the Switch version of the game [Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze] already accounts for nearly 17% of the total number of copies the game has sold in the UK (physical units only). Week one sales of the Switch version were 53.7% higher than week one sales of the Wii U version (although Switch does have a considerably higher install base).

Last Week This Week Title

    1. Mario Kart is probably the biggest Nintendo franchise in the UK. It usually does really well and for a lot of people this is like a brand new game rather than a port

      1. Am I the only one that finds this Mario Kart dreadfully easy and too kid friendly?

I mean I miss the old days when reds followed you in a straight line, now their just glorified blue shells…

Oh and don’t get me started on the ‘at least once a lap’ blue shell spamming….
