This week’s UK video game sales charts are now in thanks to the team at GFK Chart Track. Friday saw the release of the excellent Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch and the game catapulted itself into second place which is very impressive. The game couldn’t dethrone God of War on the PlayStation 4 which was once again the best-selling title in the UK. Here’s the top ten best-sellers in the UK.
In just one week, the Switch version of the game [Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze] already accounts for nearly 17% of the total number of copies the game has sold in the UK (physical units only). Week one sales of the Switch version were 53.7% higher than week one sales of the Wii U version (although Switch does have a considerably higher install base).

Mario Kart is probably the biggest Nintendo franchise in the UK. It usually does really well and for a lot of people this is like a brand new game rather than a port
Am I the only one that finds this Mario Kart dreadfully easy and too kid friendly?
I mean I miss the old days when reds followed you in a straight line, now their just glorified blue shells…
Oh and don’t get me started on the ‘at least once a lap’ blue shell spamming….
