The official Splatoon 2 artbook reveals a slew of interesting information on the origin of the popular Nintendo Switch title. One such tidbit is related to Off the Hook member Pearl, who was originally going to be an Octoling – akin to her co-host, Marina. However, in the end, Nintendo decided to create Pearl based on a more traditional Inkling design. I think is Pearl looked more like that, people wouldn’t be so harsh to her TT^TT

But her eyes are connected. How is she an Octo in this pic?
She appears to be a hybrid of some sort in this pic as the eyes are connected, but the suction things are on the outside colored part. Inklings usually (as far as I can tell) have the suction things on the inside white part. The world as I knew it no longer makes sense…๐
I feel the internet would have had a tantrum if the both came out as octos so maybe Nintendo decided to side step by making one of each. I donโt know why I feel like this, I just do. After all itโs not like the internet to throw tantrums at every chance now is it ?
