SEGA Confirms New Sonic Game In Development, Will Be Revealed Another Time

Those of you who were hoping for a tease for the next mainline Sonic title at the Sonic the Hedgehog panel at SXSW this evening will have come away disappointed as SEGA has confirmed that while they are working on a new Sonic title (surprise, surprise!) they have nothing to show the audience today. So, I’m not sure when they will decide to unveil it.

    1. There is no confirmed SA remake. Just because Iizuka has said he’d like to make one that doesn’t mean it’ll definitely happen. I’d love for it to happen, but let’s not set expectations for something not guaranteed

      1. I’m actually indifferent towards the remake.

On one hand, SEGA regains their footing in the Adventure brand. On the other hand, I already own Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Cut for the Gamecube.

  1. There used to be a time where I would be excited about a new Sonic game, but they’ve been a miss ever since Unleashed for me (Mania being the exception).

    1. Even Generations and the handheld games? Barring Lost World on 3DS, I thought they were pretty good

      1. I’d say I’m 50/50 on Generations, the gameplay was the only time I felt like it was actually decent in this current era of Sonic, but the writing still suffers from its current writer. Even with how Sonic 06 was handled the writers still seemed to care about the product they were writing about, but with how Sonic is handled today it feels like they’re not even trying to the point of the writer having self loathing for being associated with something like Sonic. It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth that I think Generations was okay.

  2. Please SEGA, just make Sonic Adventure 3 with the best elements of Adventure 1 and Adventure 2. And also, make sure the developers of Sonic Mania are involved to ensure that we get the most relevant features of the Adventure games.

Also, give us Sonic Adventure DX and Adventure 2 Battle remakes to tied us while you make this new Sonic game.

      1. Forces isn’t the absolutely terrible game some would have you believe, but I wouldn’t say it is good either. It was disappointing, but kind of okay, I guess.

      2. Forces isn’t really bad. Just….disappointing.

It has a lot of neat concepts that could have been better explored, but the execution is spotty at best. The story had a lot of missed potential, the levels are neat but are way too short, and Classic Sonic really had no reason to exist other than fanservice.

  3. I used to get so hyped fo Sonic games but things like this anger me when all they do is release $%^&*

    1. You got that right. I wish the writers would take time to write. Yet they rush these games and make hype. Then when we finally buy, we realize this Sonic game just ain’t our type.

  4. They need to keep the source codes for ports. I heard that the adventure 1 and 2, heroes, shadow the hedgehog, riders, unleashed, and colors no longer have the source codes. I want tails, knuckles, amy, cream, team dark, blaze, espio, vector, metal sonic and silver to appear on the next sonic game.

  5. Wish I could say I’m excited, but I’m not. I honestly just want Sonic Team to have some consistency.

I don’t care if it takes years, give him a break and give other franchises more attention in the meantime.

  6. Cant they just release a Sonic Adventure 2 for the Switch? This way I can take it anywhere on the pitch. Buy two green controllers to match the skin of this beautiful witch.

  7. Okay, Here’s a few things I would think would make a good game
-Let the Mania crew handle the game base
    -Stay consistent
-last but not least, give some of the more minor characters more attention, cause we love them!!!
