Nintendo Boosted Speed For Switch CPU During Zelda: Breath Of Wild Loading Screens In Recent Update

Restera Era member Cucholix is reporting (via beta tester ZachyCatGames) that the recently decreased loading times in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are due to the fact that Nintendo has activated a boost mode on the Nintendo Switch in the recent update for the game. The default Switch CPU is 1Ghz in both handheld and docked mode. The 8.0 update has seen Nintendo increase CPU speeds during loading times in Breath of the Wild to 1.7Ghz.

In botw v1.6.0 (and maybe mario odyssey 1.3.0) the game seems to switch over to 1.7ghz CPU when the game is on loading screens, then switching back to 1ghz once they’re done

Very interesting. This may be how they improved loading times in the new update

  1. That is very interesting indeed. Can they use the boost for the FPS stability in the CPU intensives parts of certain games to prevent frames rate drops?… LETS WAIT AND SEE…
