Super Mario Maker 2’s Course Maker Has Simple UX Changes To Make It Easier For Creators

Nintendo has made some super-smart UX changes to the mechanics of  Course Maker in Super Mario Maker 2. As shown on the Nintendo Treehouse stream, you can easily create courses by zooming in and out without hassle, use the magnifying glass to switch between different object wheels, which are categorised for user benefit, and easily switch enemies out for different designed forms by tapping and holding, rather than shaking your stylus.

Other changes have been made to make it easier for creators to re-use the same materials on courses. For example, being able to pin the object you continuously need – such as an item or ground block – to the top tool bar saves a huge amount of time when creating courses. Other items such as the newly introduced Koopa Car only have three hit points before they fall apart, but you can kindly allow players another try by placing the Reset Door into your course. As always, it’s trial and error – as players will find out on June 28th, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
