GDC survey says 19% of developers are planning next game for Nintendo Switch

The annual GDC state of the industry survey has been published for 2020 and 4,000 developers were quizzed about their plans going forward. While the focus is on next gen and who is developing for Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, Nintendo seems to be coming away unscathed. “17% of developers said their current project would be released on the console, and 19% were planning their next game for it.” You can read the full report as well as breakdowns for development on each platform, here.

  1. Still pretty small for what will be the console with the biggest active install base for at least the next few years.

    1. What standard are you using exactly? Are you just making one up? I’m looking at the actual numbers of the survey here and the leading console platform is only 6% higher.

  2. π‘΅π’Šπ’π’•π’†π’π’…π’ π‘π’Šπ’“π’”π’• 𝑢𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒓

    Come. Bring your games.

  3. So 89% of developers dont do nothing. That explains why no constant Metroid, Pikmin, or Starfox immediately and no constant Nintendo Direct. You have nothing to direct if your devlopers havent started on games.

  4. Those are poor numbers for Switch and you just know that most of those are Indie developers. The Switch is rife with old, high priced ports.
