Famed Platinum Games video game designer Hideki Kamiya recently participated in a Hamster Games Arcade Archives stream. Mr. Kamiya was asked about his busy schedule and the projects that he’s been working on including Bayonetta 3. He told Hamster boss Satoshi Hamada that he hopes he can give an update on the highly-anticipated game at some point during the year.
Hamada: I believe that you’re very busy with new projects?
Kamiya: Well, I suppose… we’ve been working on new stuff like Bayonetta 3, not that I can say too much… but I hope we can give an update during the year.
Hamada: I see.
Kamiya: – and give updates on a few more unannounced projects too. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say that, but I said it anyway.
Hamada: (laughing hysterically) Ah, so that’s how it is, huh?
Kamiya: The point is – I’m trying to do a lot of stuff this year.
Hamada: Got you! Thank you for the comment.
Kamiya: Please keep an eye on us. I’m hoping to bring some hype to this industry.
Hamada: I hope so too! I really would like to see you succeed in making AAA games. Meanwhile, we will focus more on classic games.
Kamiya: I’ll do my best, thanks.

Or how about: “We weren’t satisfied with the quality of Bayonetta 3 and started development from scratch with our pals at Retro Studios”.
“I hope we can give an update during the year.” Not exactly what I was wanting to hear when then game is going on 5 years in development. Development isn’t going THAT well if they can’t pull together a gameplay trailer this year.
That doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. It’s also very possible that the game is just very ambitious or that a very small team is working on the game.

It could still absolutely be coming this year. Nintendo has recently developed the habbit of announcing new games only one or two months ahead of release. so it’s absolutely possible for them to show a first trailer of Bayonetta 3 in summer and then release it in fall or something like that.
Why, Platinum Games! Why! I already forgot about the game and was happy. Why did you have to remind me that Bayonetta 3 is in developement leave me in agony not knowing when I can finally play it.
