IGN has revised its top video games of all-time feature and the new No.1 is none other than the excellent The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is available on both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. It is certainly an interesting top ten (you can view the top one hundred here) with a mix of newer and older video games. Nintendo has five games featured in the top ten which are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Super Mario 64.

these kind of stuff always ends up being a popularity contest, whatever is recent mixed with some cliche big names like OOT and HL2 just to make it look more legit
I mean, that’s kinda the point? Lists like this are based on what most people consider to be the best games, regardless of their reasons for it. It’s completely dependant on popularity.
It’s not meant to be a “definitive” or “objective” list, there’s no such thing as an objective “best games of all time” list anyway.
Everyone has different tastes in games.
It’s all so subjective anyway. But good lord, did they play it safe.

I personally think SM64 is overrated in 2021, but its influence can’t be denied. I also think Tetris and Ms. Pac-Man deserve a showing, and a Street Fighter or other Capcom fighter should be there. But then, I’d also throw in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, so why even listen to my opinion? lol.
Also, I won’t challenge Super Mario World, but I think Super Mario Bros. 3 might be considered in its stead. Might.

Uncharted 4 over Uncharted 2? Wow, that’s a first. I don’t think Uncharted 4 is even remotely as good as 3, and 2 is far beyond better than 3. But an opinion is an opinion 🤷

I agree, but it strayed too far from what made Zelda games what they were. That’s why many hated it back then. Funny thing is, BotW did the same, and people loved it for that reason.
