Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie nears $300M global takings

There’s no let up with cinema goers wanting to watch the latest Sonic the Hedgehog movie as Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has nearly earned $300 million globally, which will clearly satisfy both Paramount and SEGA. The film has done particularly well in the United Kingdom where both the Sonic franchise and the SEGA Mega Drive were unstoppable in the early 1990s with the movie having earned $26.3 million so far.

“The international Sonic 2 cume is now $142M for $287.8M global meaning the little blue critter will zoom past $300M any day now. Leading the charge for Sonic are the UK ($26.3M), Mexico ($15.7M), France($14.3M), Australia ($13.1M) and Brazil ($8.9M). Sonic goes head-to-head with the Fantastic Beasts in the Middle East next weekend. Japan is on deck for August.”

  1. It’d be funny if it ended up being Sonic had the mediocre games but great movies and Mario had the great games and a mediocre movie (the new one).

  2. So Sega can use the money to make a Soniv Adventure 3. I been waiting over 20 years for it. Built I know how it goes make one game wait 30 years for a sequel.
