As you are most likely aware Microsoft has been battling it out with the Federal Trade Commission regarding their proposed take over of Activision-Blizzard. During the proceedings plenty of information has emerged which previously hadn’t been made public concerning Microsoft and its competitors. Court documents show that Microsoft believes that Nintendo is planning to release its successor to the popular Nintendo Switch sometime next year, which lines up with the general rumours and speculation surrounding the successor to the Nintendo Switch family of systems.

I mean, it’s a safe guess at this point. I recall Nintendo saying they will finish Mario kart 8 deluxe dlc by the end of 2024. My guess is they just want Nintendo to hurry up and make the next smash bros since no console has ever had more than one new smash bros.

Yeah 8 dlc ends this year it was only really 2022-2023 like the last wave probably won’t come out till December or November.

Very surprising move (if they do) by Nintendo, considering its still selling like hotcakes.
I think the demand could be there to sell a Switch 2 concurrently with Switch 1 (at a much lower price point)
I mean it’s not bad if they do the smart phone/iphone strategy, have everything be backwards compatible, but that could also pose big issues with marketing and having people buy switch 1 and want switch 2 games. Remember when there was like dsi exclusive games or whatever, creates that headache, but if all games can play on switch 1 as well, that makes developers have to make sure their game works on the lowest denominator. That isn’t an issue with phones releasing yearly since it’s always incremental, but with a new console every 5+ years that’s a substantial amount of power the next switch will have over the 1
Yeah I think I hear many publishers mentioned this a few times. I think maybe Nintendo will mentioned the next gen system after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe last wave being released for the game. I can tell.
I can see the next console being teased in October 2023, revealed in November 2023 and then Released in March 2024 with a couple of first party Titles, I can see Metroid Prime 4 not being a launch title but will be released within the launch window for the new system and the Switch.

For anyone who wants to read the full statement, it is located on page 92 of the pdf source and it reads: “Switch was released three years earlier, and Nintendo is expected to release the successor to the Switch as early as next year, whereas PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S are at a different stage of the console life cycle.” and is credited to Spencer, which presumably is Phil Spencer.
Unless Nintendo decides they won’t fulfill the “prophecy” of launching in 2024 and do it in 1-2 years after said “prophecy”

I’ve been saying late 2024 early 2025 window for years. It’s looking more and more likely my prediction is coming true. Most people back then argued it would be sooner because they wanted a stronger machine that could handle 3rd party games, and I get where they were coming from. But I always knew Nintendo would want to ride the wave of the Switch’s success for a full 7~8 years. It is the 3rd best selling platform of all time after all and they’re sales numbers for games was phenomenal.
