Nintendo’s latest financial report had a lot of interesting data. However, there was one thing in their report that may surprise you. You see, around this time every year, Nintendo likes to provide an update about how successful Nintendo Switch Online is doing. So, it isn’t surprising that Nintendo did the very same thing with this financial report.
According to Nintendo, there are now over 34,000,000 users that are paying for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription as of September 30th, 2024. As for more details on this, all Nintendo says is that “although we did observe a year-over-year decrease in membership, partly due to fewer new releases in the past year focusing on online play, many people continue to enjoy Nintendo Switch Online”. They also said that “additionally, the number of people opting for the higher-tier Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack has been steadily increasing since the service began in 2021”.

Haha they won’t tell us how many are subscribed to the online + expansion tier. Must not look that great.
I guess they been watching their charts on their screens.
Not surprising to hear that the numbers have dropped, considering that Super Mario Party Jamboree is the only new Nintendo-made game this year to properly feature online modes.
That said, I am glad that the + Expansion Pass numbers have been increasing steadily, that is good news!
Well now that the Expansion Pack is truly worth having, sure its numbers have gone up. I know I waited a bit before I went in on it.
I haven’t subscribed to this. And glad that I haven’t. In my case, I would just end up giving them money for nothing. Playing online isn’t something I do on Switch, and personally I think that aspect should be free anyway.
you are not missing much, just some emulation and bad online, good choice pal
I did and I don’t regret with all we get :)
Since NSO will be carrying over to the next system, I imagine they’ll add Gamecube & DS (and maybe Dreamcast if Genesis is anything to go by) games on there next since there will be more horsepower. (Even if it’s not a very large power upgrade.)
