The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct may be just a little more than a week away, but there are still some lingering questions about just what Nintendo has left to release the Switch 1, if there’s anything else at all. Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends Z-A are still releasing on the Switch 1, and in the former game’s case, there hasn’t been any new information on it since last summer. Meanwhile, leakers and insiders have been very adamant that Nintendo still has a few first-party offerings left to go for the Switch 1.
Still, the last thing anyone may be expecting right now is a presentation of some kind for Switch 1 games. However, a recent rumor has surfaced indicating that this may very well be the case. Multiple people have been coming forward the past day with cryptic posts that have stirred up speculation that Nintendo may be doing something this week.
Things have now reached an even greater level, as gaming leakers PH Brazil and NateTheHate have now come forward to state that they have heard that Nintendo is planning something this week. Nate has specifically mentioned a Nintendo Direct, though he states that he is “not 100% certain on the format at present”. So, it’s not ruled out yet that the Direct, if it happens, might not be a general one, but a Mini, Partner or Indie Direct. Whatever presentation it is, Nate said that “I believe it is on/around Thursday”, so we won’t have to wait long to find out.

did someone say mini? :,D
Makes sense, seeing as it could be at least a while before switch 2, hopefully there will be some mp4 footage
A full-fledged direct would be fascinating, especially with a tease/notice to tune back in the week after for The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. I’d say there are likely a few of those remaster/remake titles (i.e. Super Mario RPG, Pikmin 1 + 2, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD) ready to be served. If the Switch 2 drops in, say, mid-July, they could announce a few titles for April, May, and June until then. A Nintendo Direct Mini makes more sense, in that case, but I could see a high-profile 3rd Party title (i.e., Persona 3/4/5, Nier:Autoamata were announced for Switch) being able to fill in the gaps. Titles that wouldn’t be as insane to see announced for Switch 2, more ‘expected’; I could see a few releases into Spring/Summer filling this? Very interesting, though.
Where’s that Doomed guy when ya need him
Maybe an Indie World?
That’s good news, but the waiting game continues, officially ending next week.
Looking forward to seeing a new metroid prime 4 trailer in any case. A better look at Mario kart 9. Hopefully a new 3D Mario game. Zelda Wind Waker. New 3D kirby game. Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong racing.
Gamecube virtual console, Nintendo DS virtual console. Pikmin 5. Mario maker 3. Xenoblade Chronicles 4. Yoshi’s wolly world. Toads treasure tracker 2. Bayonetta 4. Twilight princess HD. Wario world 2. Luigis mansion 1, metroid samus returns. Pokemon Ruby, sapphire upgrades. Mario galaxy 2.
Zelda Oracle of seasons, ages remakes. Mario 3d land. Bomberman 64. Wario land 1 and 2. Metroid prime 2 and 3. Chibi Robo. Super Paper Mario. Wario land shake it. Zelda a link between worlds. Kirby planet robobot.
Oh, is that all?
We have no idea about MP4. Not the same situation as BotW. WiiU and Switch have different forms of media. With Switch 2, you’ll be able to take a Switch cartridge and pop it in no problem. MP4 could just be a Switch game that is also playable. Maybe there will be an upgraded Switch 2 version either day 2 or later. Maybe Switch 2 will automatically give it a performance boost. Who knows, whatever the case, if it doesn’t look better on Switch 2 then I doubt we see it on April 2nd direct.
There’s no such thing as a Switch 1; it doesn’t get a name change just because a sequel exists. This is the same issue we’ve had for games for decades! We’re smarter than this, Switch is the 2017 console, Switch 2 is the next generation. If you say Switch, guess what? We all know what you mean! If you say Switch 2, same thing! If you say Switch 1 though, nobody should allow that nonsense. There’s no PS1, there is a PSOne however but it doesn’t have it’s own games so there’s factually no PS1 games in existence. It’s incredibly simple and easy to use the proper name. It’s Xbox, not OG Xbox. It’s NES, not original Nintendo. If you’re talking to someone who is confused, they’re not a gamer and you need to walk away
I completely agree.
Theres more to life dude rather than getting bent out of shape about numericals.
Pikmin 1 is the official name.
…What’s the point?
Switch 2 Direct is next week already. It’ll be compatible with the games from the OG Switch. Metroid Prime is all but stated to be releasing natively on it as well, just like BotW launched on both Wii U and Switch. I highly doubt the Switch will receive a big port until the release of the next console.
So what it’d be? A Mini with some minor titles that won’t make a difference and, certainly, not worth watching a Direct for? A Partner with some small-scale port that won’t sell that well due to coming at the end cycle of the console (if it isn’t badly done, while we’re at it)? I’m not saying it won’t happen, but I genuinely can’t see the necessity or benefit of having a Direct for the Switch 1 with 2 on the horizon already.
By the way, I’m fairly sure Pokemon Legends Z-A will come to Switch 2 as well. So yeah.
One more surprise for a Nintendo Switch system.
Just drop a Tomodachi Life port Nintendo
For real. TL is a Top-3 best use for Miis. But at this point I’d rather have a sequel, or if they would just port it, that it gets a hefty amount of extras (more foods, more rooms, more gifts, etc.), as well as allowing Miis to have same-gender relationships. I don’t care how unpopular that might be, but I know a lot of people in my real life that swing that way so if I were to add Miis of them I’d want the accuracy.
This is literally the best time to drop it, Mii are getting so popular on the internet recently, if they ride the wave in time they could sell a ton of copies and make tomodachi life a staple franchise in the Nintendo brand, it sold like hot cake on the 3DS, it would sell like crazy on the switch, unless they are trying to make a switch 2 only sequel but I really don’t see how tomodachi life would need that much of a power boost.
Nintendo find the internet a confusing place, they still use fax machines to get info between Japan and the greater continents.
Oh yeah, not a bad observation lol
“NateTheHate” yup we are done here, nothing’s gonna happen folks.
Actually he was right the last time
Well well well. Looks like Nate was right people
Well I’ll be damned
“He heard that…”like in September when he had “heard” that the successor to the Switch was going to be presented to be released at Christmas when everything indicated that it was unlikely…?
And I don’t see why Nintendo would release this a few days before the presentation of its new machine. For me it will be rather incorporated into the one of the new switch since it is backwards compatible switch….
