Bloomberg: analysts expecting Switch 2 to be biggest console launch in video game history

If you managed to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 ahead of its June 5th release, you’re in luck. Switch 2 pre-orders have been selling out just about everywhere around the world. So far, all signs seem to be pointing to Nintendo‘s new console being a sales success. However, some Bloomberg analysts think that the launch could be a lot more than you may be expecting.

The analysts that spoke to Bloomberg are predicting that “Nintendo will be able to produce between 6 million and 8 million consoles by the time the Switch 2 hits shelves on June 5. Sony’s PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 are tied for the best launch to date, with each selling 4.5 million units in their first two months on the market”. If this happens, the Switch 2 could end up being the biggest console launch in video gaming history.

  1. I mean the question has never been how many Switch 2’s they can sell but rather how many they can make. It’s also a bit of a risk putting so many on the market early because if there are any issues that show up when you suddenly have millions of people using the console for the first time, then it could end up being quite costly. Launch day players are semi-beta testers.

Anyway, good luck to everyone here who’s trying to get one on launch day! I hope you all get one!

    1. I’ve gotten several consoles on launch day and never had any issues. Especially with nintendo platforms. The only big fiasco I can think of was the red ring of death for Xbox 360. I’m sure everyone picking up day one will be just fine.

    2. I’ve had my original Switch for over 8 years. Got it when it launched on March 3rd, 2017. Never had any issues with the hardware, it very easily lasted. I think Switch 2 will be fine…

  2. Went around town today and managed to get myself and my brother a base Switch 2 console each. Good luck to everyone else!

  3. I think this analyst is smart and against Nintendo, He says this so he can say later the launch was disappointing.

  4. Im going to get a Switch 2 this year. I already pre ordered DK Banaza. I dont have no problem buying games before the console. I did the same thing with the st Switch.

    1. Same wait about an 1 hour on Walmart app but I was able to preorder the mkw bundle and pro controller I can get donkey Kong preorder later in month on the eShop by than

      1. I also went in on a pro controller, and a carrying case for when people ask me to bring my gear. I’m not sure about DK Bananza, but even if there are no other games I want right away, I think it’s better to get the system now for when games I do want are released.

        1. Yeah cause who knows how the next few waves will go when they restock the switch 2’s I do feel like them launching them close to summer is a good thing that way it can be easier to get for people who miss out on it for the following upcoming fall/winter lineup

  5. I didn’t want to pre-order it right away but my husband insisted. Arguing that there is a risk of a shortage, it is clear that for the moment he is right.

So it was pre-ordered with elden ring and cyberpunk
